1990 Honda Civic problems
The Honda Civic (Japanese: ホンダ・シビック, Hepburn: Honda Shibikku) is a series of automobiles manufactured by Honda since 1972. As of 2023, the Civic is positioned between the Honda Fit/City and Honda Accord in Honda's global car line-up.
The first-generation Civic was introduced in July 1972 as a two-door fastback sedan, followed by a three-door hatchback that September. With a 1,169 cc transverse engine and front-wheel drive like the British Mini, the car provided good interior space despite overall small dimensions. Initially gaining a reputation for being fuel-efficient, reliable and environmentally friendly, later iterations have become known for performance and sportiness, especially the Civic Type R, Civic VTi, Civic GTi and Civic SiR/Si.
The Civic has been repeatedly rebadged for international markets, and served as the basis for the Honda CR-X, the Honda CR-X del Sol, the Concerto, the first generation Prelude, the Civic Shuttle (later to become the Orthia) and the CR-V (which, by extension, was used as the basis for the Honda FR-V).
The Civic is one of the all-time best-selling automobiles in the world, with over 27 million units sold since 1972 as of 2021.

This car was exactly what I expected, and more. Although I was a bit disappointed with the 92HP engine, the car is still very responsive and fun to drive. The handling is great, and the front seats are very comfortable. The only downside is that the car sits quite low, which can make getting out of it a bit of an interesting experience, and it tends to scrape across the bottom when going over speed bumps. However, compared to other compact cars, even newer cavaliers, this car simply blows them all away!
Keeley Marvin 2024-11-20
I've had this car for 13 years and it has never let me down. It starts up every day, even in the harsh Minnesota winter. I recently purchased a new 2002 Civic Coupe and I'm hoping it will be just as reliable. Here's to another 13 years!
Gust Heathcote 2024-11-15
Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with my Honda. I bought it from a private party two years ago with 183,000 miles on it, and it's been such a great car! The previous owner took excellent care of it, and I've been able to keep it going strong even with the extra miles. Of course, I've had to replace a few things like the brakes, radiator, master cylinder, AC, and tires, but those are just regular wear and tear items. Today, I put it up for sale for $2000, and I've already had some interested buyers. It's bittersweet to see it go, but I know I'll definitely be getting another Honda in the future!
Kaleigh Schmeler 2024-10-28
We bought this car new 13 years ago and we still love it! It's extremely nimble and saved us from an accident at the last second. The simple design is utilitarian and looks great. We realized how great the looks were on Hondas/Acuras in the early 90s and how they deteriorated later on in the 90s, but now it's starting to get its spunk back.
Brayan Harris 2024-09-24
The car is excellent! Although it was bought completely bare bones, without A/C, p/s, p/w, p/door locks, pass side mirror, etc., it has proven to be a reliable ride. Despite being poorly cared for since day one, it started right up when I turned the key. I have driven it almost 500 miles since owning it and have had absolutely no motor problems. It is an absolute BLAST to drive and hopefully it will aid in getting me through the next 3 years of college.
