1995 Honda Civic problems
The Honda Civic (Japanese: ホンダ・シビック, Hepburn: Honda Shibikku) is a series of automobiles manufactured by Honda since 1972. As of 2023, the Civic is positioned between the Honda Fit/City and Honda Accord in Honda's global car line-up.
The first-generation Civic was introduced in July 1972 as a two-door fastback sedan, followed by a three-door hatchback that September. With a 1,169 cc transverse engine and front-wheel drive like the British Mini, the car provided good interior space despite overall small dimensions. Initially gaining a reputation for being fuel-efficient, reliable and environmentally friendly, later iterations have become known for performance and sportiness, especially the Civic Type R, Civic VTi, Civic GTi and Civic SiR/Si.
The Civic has been repeatedly rebadged for international markets, and served as the basis for the Honda CR-X, the Honda CR-X del Sol, the Concerto, the first generation Prelude, the Civic Shuttle (later to become the Orthia) and the CR-V (which, by extension, was used as the basis for the Honda FR-V).
The Civic is one of the all-time best-selling automobiles in the world, with over 27 million units sold since 1972 as of 2021.

Common 1995 Honda Civic problems
The 1995 Honda Civic is a popular car known for its reliability and fuel efficiency. However, some common problems and issues have been reported by owners over the years.
One of the most common issues with the 1995 Honda Civic is related to the power window motors. The motors that control the power windows in the car have been known to run out quickly compared to other cars. This means that the window may not roll up or down smoothly, or may not work at all. This issue can be frustrating for drivers and passengers, especially during hot or cold weather.
Another common problem with the 1995 Honda Civic is related to the headlights. The headlights have been known to get dim rather quickly, which can make it difficult to see while driving at night. This issue can be a safety concern, especially if the driver is unable to see pedestrians, other vehicles, or obstacles on the road.
In addition to these issues, some 1995 Honda Civic owners have reported problems with the timing belt. The timing belt is a critical component of the car's engine, and if it breaks, it can cause serious engine damage. Some owners have reported having to replace the timing belt more than once, which can be a costly and time-consuming repair.
Other common problems with the 1995 Honda Civic include issues with the fuel pump, ignition coil, and spark plugs. These issues can cause the car to run poorly, stall, or have difficulty starting.
Despite these common problems, many 1995 Honda Civic owners report that the car is still a reliable and fuel-efficient vehicle. With regular maintenance and care, the 1995 Honda Civic can be a dependable and long-lasting car.
Are 1995 Civics reliable?
They're known for their impressive lifespans, and your '95 Civic... well, it's got a sturdy shell of its own. The Honda Civic, particularly from the 90s, has a bulletproof reputation. Seriously, it's like the Nokia phone of vehicles—almost indestructible.
What was a bad year for Honda Civic?
What Year Did the Honda Civic Have Engine Problems? The Honda Civic years 2001 – 2006 is a notorious batch of vehicles in the lineup with multiple engine and airbag issues. However, models from 2006 to 2008 and a few 2009 models had coolant issues such as leaks that could blow up your engine.
What is the common problem of Honda Civic?
Brakes. Some Civic owners have complained of squealing brakes; Honda is said to be aware of the problem and working on a fix, though it's worth keeping in mind that any Civic you test drive with noisy brakes may not be easy to fix.
Can a Honda Civic last 30 years?
Regular maintenance along with making the needed repairs the Civic can last 20+ years. All cars need something repaired or replaced during a lengthy ownership. For my personal example I own a 2009 civic, the only repairs needed in 10 years has been the CV axles have been replaced.

When you bought your Civic 2 months ago, it had 107,000 miles on it. The car was proposed to have 125hp when new. After a few upgrades, you had the car dyno'd and it topped off at 141hp @ 6800RPMs. Not bad for a car with over 100k miles. Your only issue is that the automatic transmission changes gears roughly, although this is a known problem with this model Civic. Some auto transmission lube and conditioner helps dramatically.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with a car I owned back in 1995. It was an absolute gem! The EX model with the VTEC system provided a great amount of power at high revs, although it was a bit slow at low revs. The car was incredibly reliable and the Acoustic Research stereo was top-notch for its time. As the car aged, the handling wasn't as tight as it used to be, but it still had a sporty feel even after 13 years. The five-speed manual transmission was a must-have. The interior was very well made with great dash and door panel material. This car was definitely more of a sports coupe than an economy car, and it even performed great in the snow with Bridgestone Blizzak snow tires. Overall, I had a wonderful experience with this car and I highly recommend it!

Congratulations on your graduation! It's great to hear that you've been a loyal Honda owner for so long. Your 1995 Civic Ex 4 door sounds like it's still going strong with only 122,000 miles on it. As you know, regular maintenance and oil changes are key to keeping Honda/Acura vehicles running smoothly. It's interesting to hear that you also have a Ford SUV to tow your Civic to the track. Speaking of the track, it's impressive that you circuit race your 95 Ex and have even replaced the original drivetrain with one from a 94 Acura Integra GSR. It must be a thrilling experience to drive such a fast go-cart-like car that pushes about 202 hp at the wheels. Keep up the great work!

This Honda hatchback is one of the best cars they've made! It's incredibly reliable and that 1.6L VTEC engine is very promising. I'm so happy with my Honda that I might keep it forever and give it to my future son. Plus, the gas mileage is great - it costs less than $30 to fill up!

This car is really peppy! The manual transmission is so smooth and the routine maintenance is a breeze since the fluid reservoirs are very accessible. Plus, it's extremely reliable and still gets 35 miles per gallon.

I purchased the car in May and immediately noticed that it was burning oil at an alarming rate. Despite this issue, I continued to drive it and monitored the oil level, filling it up as needed. I even took it on a 4-hour round trip to Bloomington without any problems. Over the course of the next few months, I put over 2,000 miles on the car while commuting to work almost daily. Unfortunately, by the end of September, the engine had completely failed. After taking it to the shop, I discovered that it was running on only 3 cylinders and the engine was beyond repair. Despite my disappointment, I am confident that I took all necessary precautions and did everything in my power to maintain the car. It is unfortunate that the car did not last as long as I had hoped, especially considering it only had 170,000 miles on it.

This car has presented a few challenges since we acquired it. Unfortunately, the passenger door handle broke on the first day and the windshield wipers fell off soon after. Additionally, the car does not alert me when I leave the lights on, which has resulted in a few dead batteries. Despite these minor setbacks, we were able to address the issues and move forward. We experienced a breakdown during a long trip, but we were able to get it fixed and continue our journey. Although there were a few other issues, such as the timing belt and radiator, we were able to resolve them. We are currently addressing the AC issue and a few other minor concerns. Overall, we are confident that we will be able to address any issues that arise and continue to enjoy this car.

Hello! I've had my '95 LX for just over a year now and it's currently up for sale on Craigslist. While it may not be the fastest car out there, it's great for parallel parking and gets an impressive 36 mpg in the city - which is why I bought it when gas prices were high. It's a perfect car for a single person who commutes without any kids, pets, or a lot of stuff to carry around. I do want to mention that I've noticed some rust underneath the car and have had to replace the CV joints and rack boots annually, but overall it's been a reliable car for me. Let me know if you're interested in taking a look!

Overall, this car has been pretty good to me. It has only left me stranded twice due to a cracked plastic radiator and a broken alternator belt. However, it gets pretty good gas mileage. Now, with 232,000 miles, it's time to say goodbye. Unfortunately, the starter just went out, oil seals are leaking, and it leaked on the timing belt. The back power windows are also leaking, and the trunk is leaking water from the back window. But this summer, I had the CV joints, brakes, and rotors replaced, and it was driving like brand new. I got this car with 90K miles on it, and we had a good run. Just remember to get the timing belt replaced every 90K miles, and you will be fine. I got this car in college, and it has lasted through my first job. It will be missed.

I hope you're doing well! I wanted to share my experience with my car. I've driven it for quite a while now and it's been incredibly reliable. I've even managed to roll 175K on it! Can you believe that? It's still on the original clutch too. It's a real fuel sipper too, I'm still getting around 35MPG on the highway. It's a great mode of transport that's super cheap and reliable. Mine doesn't even have A/C or power anything, but guess what? Nothing has broken on the car yet. Best regards, Chris
