The Ford Mustang Mach-E is a battery electric compact crossover SUV produced by Ford. The vehicle was introduced on November 17, 2019, and went on sale in December 2020 as a 2021 model. The vehicle is in the Mustang series, with model name Mach-E inspired by the Mach 1 variant of the first-generation Mustang. The car won the 2021 North American SUV of the Year Award.
Overview
During development, the Mustang Mach-E was originally teased as the Ford Mach 1, but was retracted after strong public opposition, with Ford CEO Jim Farley describing the name tease as an evaluation.
The Mach-E has buttons that open the doors, and a small door handle protruding from the front doors, instead of door handles. Smartphones, or a keypad built into the B-pillar, can be used as a key.
The interior has a wide dashboard and built-in soundbar; the dash is equipped with a vertically mounted 15.5 in (39 cm) touchscreen infotainment system fitted with a rotary dial. The majority of the car's systems are controlled through the screen, which uses Ford's recent SYNC 4 operating system, updatable wirelessly. There is a 10.2 in (26 cm) digital cluster for the driver, and the steering wheel has several physical buttons.
The Mustang Mach-E uses the Global Electrified 1 (GE1) platform, which is a heavily reworked version of the C2 platform shared with the fourth generation Focus and third generation Kuga/fourth generation Escape. It offers a traditional cargo area at the rear offering a volume of 29 cu ft (821 L), and a 4.8 cu ft (136 L) waterproof trunk under the hood and can be charged by a home AC charger or by DC fast chargers at up to 150 kW.

In February 2022, we sold my wife's 2019 BMW X3 M40i and ordered a 2022 Mach-E GT Performance. Our Mach-E order arrived in October 2022 and we couldn't be happier. The Mach-E is a fantastic car that trumps our old BMW in just about every area. Ours is the GT Performance Edition in Cyber Orange, and it's a real head-turner. We've had many nice cars, but none have garnered the attention we get in the Mach-E. Driving it is an absolute joy. The torque is amazing, and you can't help but grin when you step on the pedal just a little. And if you really put your foot down, it's downright exhilarating. Surprisingly, the ride around town is quite smooth, and highway trips are likewise comfortable. The Bang & Olufsen stereo is fantastic, with good bass and sharp, clear highs. And for such a heavy car, it handles really well. One-pedal driving is a hoot, and we may drive this car over 100,000 miles and never replace the brakes. Charging is easy and cheap, and with our electric rates, it only costs about $9.00 to charge from near empty to 100 percent, which gives us around 250-270 miles of range. During the winter, we get super low electric rates that will cut that cost in half. We have not used public charging and probably never will. We use the Mach-E for all of our local every-day driving, so it's easy to keep it charged at home. The interior on the Mach-E is nice, with high-quality touch materials and excellent seats. The big screen works well, too.It's definitely a bit of an adjustment, but overall we were pleasantly surprised with how well the screen works. It's super fast, responsive, and very clear. Plus, the backup camera view is incredible! In summary, this car is a fantastic value for the money. Actually, it's a great car even without considering the cost. We've owned Mercedes, BMW, Range Rover, Jaguar, Lexus, and a host of others, but the Mach-E is quickly becoming a new favorite. That 600 plus lb-ft of torque off the line never gets old, the cabin is nicely done, the ride is surprisingly smooth and quiet, it handles quite well, and it looks great--much better than a Tesla. However, the buying experience was a bit of a letdown. This is my first Ford since the 1970s (excluding Jaguar, which was owned by Ford when I purchased most of my Jags). Ordering on the Ford website was easy, as was tracking my order and tracking the car once it was built. But the dealer experience was less than ideal. First, the dealer tried to discourage us from taking delivery, saying we should wait until next year as this is one of the last 2022s--we strongly suspect this was so they could then sell the car for $10k-$20k over MSRP. Then, when we showed up to take delivery, they tried all sorts of tricks to pad their wallet. First, they added some worthless paint protection, even though I had it in writing from two of their representatives, including the new car director, that they would NOT add any extras to the car. They tried to tell me that they put it on all cars, it was already on this car, and they could not take it off. Perhaps this was another ploy to get us to walk away from taking the car. In any event, I told them I would walk and complain to Ford, and they took off the stupid paint protection charge.When I asked for a breakdown of the taxes and registration fees, the dealer was hesitant to provide it and kept giving me a total number. I had to escalate the issue to the director and it turned out that the dealer was charging double for taxes and registration. It was a frustrating experience, but we eventually got the deal done after spending 5.5 hours at the dealership. On the bright side, we are very pleased with the Mach-E and highly recommend it. It's a great car for local errands and drives up to about 75-100 miles one-way. We have had no problems with it to date and home charging is easy and inexpensive. If we need to drive more than 100 miles one-way, we take our Subaru. While the range is not great, it is about as predicted. Overall, we are very happy with our purchase. For you, this car will work out great as you can use it for almost all of your local errand-running and charge it only at home. However, the real-life range for freeway driving is likely just north of 200 miles, which could make you nervous if this was your only car.

The car's reasonable range and good pickup are definitely a plus. I can understand why the quiet and comfortable ride sold you on the car. It's great that you find the dashboard easy to use and the large monitor helpful for navigation. The hatch is also a great feature, providing ample cargo space for trips to the grocery store and home improvement store. I love the idea of using the frunk to keep things cold on your way home from the store in the winter, and filling it with ice for summer drives is a great idea too!

Awesome driving experience. Have never owned a Ford but after looking closely at and driving competitive EV's, we decided on the Mach E. It is so much fun! Crazy, right- now acceleration & great handling. Ride is firm but not harsh. Having owned BMW's for years, ride and handling isn't that different with this model of Mach E. Build quality and fit & finish is excellent. Very nice, quite and comfortable interior with a great sound system. It is an EV so there are lots of customizable options and connected features with the onboard control/ display interface which is really easy to use but does takes some familiarization & getting used to. The live connected smart phone integration provides lots of useful data and driving insight. Self driving feature has been flawless.

I am really impressed with the fit and finish of this car! Although some may say that Ford has jumped the shark with this product, I believe that this car is the future. The seats are comfortable both in the front and rear, and the visibility is excellent. While the GT version has less cargo space in the hatch due to a larger battery, I am more than happy to make that trade. The electronics have a substantial learning curve, but the customization options are extensive. I found that the Ford app works really well with my iPhone. I purchased a home charge port running on a 60 amp breaker, and it pulls 48 amps. Recharging from 20% takes about 8-10 hours, but the last 10% takes the longest. The car is very quick with typical instant electric torque, and the handling is impressive considering the weight. Even though I own a Porsche 911 and an Audi Q5, I have to say that this car is FUN to drive! It's eerily quiet around town, but there is some wind noise on the highway. The Blue Cruise works so well that I find myself bored on the highway with not much to do except look forward. The sound system is the best of any car I have owned, and there is hardly any maintenance to be done - just tire rotation, cabin filter, and a bunch of things to check but nothing to replace. One pedal driving is a must for regenerative braking, and it works well. It's fun learning how to anticipate stopping and making the most of net positive electron flows. However, there are a few things that I would like to rant about. There isn't much utility considering they call it an SUV - the cargo area is small, there is no trailer hitch option, and no roof rails for carrying. The glass roof is huge, but there is no sun shade and it doesn't open. When in one pedal driving mode, shifting from forward to reverse causes the car to roll freely, which is unexpected considering that when one pedal driving is engaged, if you remove your foot from the accelerator, the car stops. I have only done one 190 mile trip so far, and I found that highway driving at 75mph decreases the range from a stated 270 miles to about 220-230 miles at 75 degrees with a light load. However, I stopped at a 50KW DC fast charger and picked up 70 miles in about 13 minutes!The car is a great vehicle for commuting and local driving. However, during long distances in cold weather, it requires patience and extra time for charging, which most people don't have. Despite this, I am a happy customer and have had no issues so far with 2,000 miles in. The car comes with high-quality tires, a variety of adapters, and charging cords. The operating costs are extremely low, costing me approximately $16 per charge at home with no significant maintenance. The brakes should last indefinitely considering most stopping can be done with regen one-pedal driving. I am a satisfied and happy customer so far. Great job, Ford! At 7,000 miles, all is well, and I have had no repair issues. However, the range in the winter is diminished, which is not a problem for local driving, but we routinely do a 190-mile highway trip. Going 80 mph with the heat on doesn't give me the range I need. Slowing down to 70-75 mph and relying on seat heaters is required. The highway charging infrastructure is still problematic, and you never know if the charger is available or working. This is not Ford's fault, but it is still unsettling. All EVs suffer from the same charging issues except for Tesla, which has heavily invested in its charging network. At 14,000 miles and 14 months later, I still feel the same about the vehicle. The rear cargo area shade is worthless and flaps annoyingly when windows are open and it is in place. However, WiFi updates are convenient. At 22k updates, the battery has lost 22 miles of range, and the high voltage controller had to be replaced twice. That's the bad news. The good news is that I still agree with all previous statements.

Now that you have 15k miles on your car, let's talk about it! The Premium trim 2 wheel drive with a 230 mile range is a great choice. Let's start with the minor issues, which were quickly resolved. The windshield and sunroof needed to be resealed, but the dealer took care of it in just three days and even provided a nice loaner car. There was a software recall in June, but it only required a half-day drop off at the dealer. The rear seatbelt also needed a replacement part, which took two weeks to arrive. Overall, the experience was positive. Ford's techs may seem puzzled at times, but they are always eager to help. And let's be honest, it's not a five-liter, but it's still a great car! Now, onto the good and great features. Charging the car in the garage is a breeze with the supplied cable, no need to buy a juice box or wall box and save yourself five hundred bucks. The ride is smooth and quiet, even better than my Macan S. It beats the BMW X3 as my dogs' beach car. The B&O stereo is the best I've ever had in a vehicle, and CarPlay and maps are effortless. The phone as a key feature is also a great addition, although Ford only provides one key. Lastly, it's fast, quiet, and good-looking. Pro tip: save your money and buy the Ford rubber mats instead of wasting it on the junk from Weathertech. If you want one, get in line!

That car is fast and looks good. The sound system is decent and it has a beautiful glass roof, but it comes at an extra cost of $1500. Unfortunately, the GT with Performance package is currently priced at around $70k, and finding an honest car sales agent is rare. The delivery fee is also higher than usual, ranging from $1100 to $1400, which is non-negotiable. The interior of the car is not up to par, with cheap-feeling steering wheel and unattractive seats. Despite the tax incentive, the monthly payment at 5% interest is still high. The advertised 276 miles of range is only attainable if you drive conservatively. The car is overpriced and not worth more than 57-62k for the GT PERFORMANCE model plus the incentive. While it is a Mustang, paying more just for the emblem is not worth it.The Tesla Model Y is a great car overall. It has a higher range and better quality batteries, giving you more range. Although it may not look as good from the outside 🤷🏻♂️, it's still a fantastic car. I think the MACH E base models should be priced at around 50k and the GT should come with the performance package included at around 58k - 62k, PLUS incentives. It might be worth waiting a few months to see how the interior holds up. The range changes abruptly, but it's still a powerful car. Who needs 500 horsepower anyway? If that's the case, you might as well get an ICE vehicle and wait for battery technology to improve. I'm not a fan of the BMW I4 or the ix4's kidney grills, but that's just my personal preference. Sorry, Mustang enthusiasts, but I think the hype is overrated - don't be fooled.
