2008 Ford Fusion problems
The Ford Fusion is a mid-size car that was manufactured and marketed by the Ford Motor Company. From the 2006 through 2020 model years, two generations of the Fusion have been produced in gasoline, gas/electric hybrid, and gas/plug-in electric hybrid variants. The Fusion was manufactured at Ford's Hermosillo Stamping and Assembly plant in Sonora, Mexico, alongside the Lincoln MKZ, and formerly the Mercury Milan, both of which share its CD3 platform.
Production on the first Fusions began on August 1, 2005. The Fusion replaced the Mondeo for the Latin American markets—except in Argentina (where the current European Mondeo is available) and in the United States and Canada (where it superseded the then mid-size Taurus and the compact Contour). The Fusion is positioned between the compact Ford Focus and the full-size Ford Taurus. In the Middle East, this model is sold alongside the Mondeo. Versions sold there are available only with the 2.5-liter engine. Unlike in the United States, Canada, and Latin America, no V6 engine is available in that region. The same is true in South Korea, where only the 2.5-liter engines (including those for the hybrid model) are available as of the 2012 model year.
The second generation line-up includes a gasoline engine option, an EcoBoost engine option, a next-generation hybrid model, and a plug-in hybrid version, the Ford Fusion Energi, making the Ford Fusion the first production sedan to offer these four options. Sales of the gasoline-powered and hybrid versions began in the U.S. in October 2012 under the 2013 model. Sales in Europe and Asia as Ford Mondeo began in 2015, along with South Africa, where the Fusion name was used. Deliveries of the Fusion Energi began in the U.S. in February 2013. The entire 2013 Fusion line-up was awarded with the 2013 Green Car of the Year at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show. In 2019, the Fusion was the seventh-best selling car in the United States.

- VIN: 3FAHP08148R
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: took in for two recalls to Serramonte ford, airbag recall fixed, braking issue not fixed due to as dealer put it, issues with computer system and was not given a timeframe to have it completed, vehicle was returned to me.
STRUCTURE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-10-07
- VIN: 3FAHP081X8R
- Components: STRUCTURE
- Summary: Door handle is stuck/broken. Door cannot open from the inside or outside. Passengers are stuck in car.
SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2019-06-03
- VIN: 3FAHP06Z48R
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: The vehicle brakes will engage at random intervals without the brake pedal being touched. This happens at all speeds, and even at a stop. Issue still occurs daily, and has been ongoing for 5+ years. Brake master cylinder and aux boost pump have been replaced twice with OEM parts, and three complete brake jobs (pads, calipers and rotors) in the last 5 years. At slower speeds, it manifests as a drag to forward motion. At higher speeds, the drag is more pronounced, and causes the car to decelerate. It has also caused the tires to "hop" during travel, causing loss of vehicle control. Luckily, no accidents so far. I am aware of the recall for the HCU (ABS Module) for this vehicle, but four different Ford dealerships have declined to examine closer, citing recall 19S54 as a "customer experience" issue, not a safety issue. The brake fluid replacement (DOT3 to DOT4) has been done, but dealer declined to examine or replace the HCU, citing "out of warranty".
UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-15
- VIN: 3FAHP07Z58R
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: This isn't an incident. I just want to report that Ford Motors will not replace the Hydraulic Control unit that is under recall for my 2008 Ford Fusion. They will only replace cars that are 15 or less years old. My car has 117,000 miles on it. Far less than the yearly average of 14,000 miles. If this truly a safety issue, then I feel that my car should be serviced under the recall. I chatted with the Ford Customer service rep and he informed me that it was safe to drive, But he did tell me to take it to a Ford dealer (of course) and that I would be financially responsible for the repair. So I own a vehicle that is under a recall, but since it's 1 year past the 15 year ownership date, Ford will not repair it under the recall. Thus any Ford owner that owns a vehicle that is older than mine is also out of luck Thank you for taking the time to read this and maybe encourage Ford to do the right thing. My car should not be any less safe than a 2010 car
STEERING,SUSPENSION,STRUCTURE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-02-27
- VIN: 3FAHP08Z58R
- Components: STEERING,SUSPENSION,STRUCTURE
- Summary: I want to file a safety complaint against Ford car company for their vehicle in which I purchased which is a 2008 Ford Fusion SEL for excessive and dangerous rot and rust problem on the frame and suspension and under component which can lead to accidents if one of these components fall apart . I purchased a 2008 Ford fusion SEL in Connecticut which used to be a Massachusetts state government vehicle before I've obtained it. It was well maintenance and had no flood damage. But just like a wide range of cars from Ford especially this model that I've purchased has a serious problem with excessive rust which make the car very dangerous to drive. Mind's speaking I've had to have framework done to my vehicle and change multiple suspension parts because of all the rust my transmission pan literally fell apart and all the oil came because it was so rusted. My stabilizer links and control arms have fell apart in which obstructs the steering which also caused a safety hazard for me and other people on the road. Ford has a duty to design their cars with a certain level of weather resistance. After doing research I found that there is a wide range of customers who's having the same having the same problems with this year make and model just like other vehicles that are made by ford. All the problems that stated in this complaint having verified by ASE certified mechanics that I've been working on my vehicle. The contact stated all the original metal components like control arms, tie rods, suspension shocks and struts and frame all have a issue with rot rust and corrosion which led to vehicles having alignment issues.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-01-16
- VIN: 3FAHP08178R
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: The dashboard has warped. The seems on the dashboard around the passenger side airbag cover have become partially unattached to the rest of the dashboard and have caused an opening above passenger side airbag that may allow for debris/dirt to enter into safety equipment and could potentially lead to serious hazards to person if airbag unit deploys. The plastic vent and sensor under the windshield located in the very top front of the dashboard has cracked and has also become dislodged and lifteb from dashboard housing and can pose safety issues if in a collision. There is also some notable brittleness arising in the dashboard material. The warping of the dashboard and its components pose strong safety concerns and a risk to service departments doing recall repairs for manufacturers. There are many similar vehicles produced by this manufacturer during this time that have had same dashboard failures and at the very least it was been the root of stress anxiety for owners and repair dealerships.

- Summary: I discovered my drivers rear brake light bulb melted in their socket. The socket themselves are burnt black and the drivers side tail light case has been hot enough to melt. A quick search on the Internet turns up a lot more chatter about this same issue. Even scarier is the fact that this happening with zero warning. No blown fuse, no codes, nothing to indicate your frying stuff in the back at all. The dealership denies hearing anything , Ford denies hearing anything, even though it's happening all over the country and I found at least five other complaints listed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administratiion. I took car in for oil change and discovered this but want $250 for repair and no guarantee it won't happen again. I'm a senior with limited income and it's a 2008 Ford fusion SE HELP NEED RECALL!

These vehicles are equipped with certain air bag inflators assembled as part of the passenger frontal air bag modules, and used as original equipment or replacement equipment. In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the front air bags, these inflators may rupture due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to absolute humidity and temperature cycling.
- Consequence: An inflator rupture may result in metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
- Remedy: Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until the repair has been performed. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. Ford mailed interim letters informing owners that parts are not yet available on July 15, 2016. Owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts become available. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S01.
- Manufacturer: Ford Motor Company
- Components: EQUIPMENT
- Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain all weather driver side accessory floor mats sold for use in model year 2006-2011 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan, 2006 Lincoln Zephyr, and 2007-2011 Lincoln MKZ vehicles manufactured November 9, 2007, through October 31, 2010. The affected floor mats may move and possibly interfere with the accelerator pedal.
- Consequence: The floor mat could shift such that it could interfere with the accelerator pedal, preventing its return to an idle position, which could result in unintended vehicle speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will install new replacement mats, free of charge. The recall began in July 2014. Owners may contact Ford's customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S07. NOTE: Vehicles built after October 31, 2010, while potentially equipped with the same floor mats, are equipped with a Brake Over Accelerator (BOA) feature that prevents simultaneous accelerator and brake application, allowing the vehicle to be safely stopped by pressing firmly and steadily on the brake pedal.

The Ford Fusion is a fantastic American alternative to imported mid-sized cars. It's impressive that Ford was able to create such a great car by borrowing a Mazda platform. The Fusion is spacious, comfortable, and has decent build quality, although there are a few minor issues. It's also quite enjoyable to drive, especially with a manual transmission. While it may not have the same aggressive driving feel as the Altima or the refinement of the Accord, it still handles well and looks fantastic. I'm a big fan of the SYNC system, although I have had some trouble using a thumb drive to store music that Ford hasn't been able to solve. The engine is smooth and revs well, but it could use a bit more power and is a little noisy at highway speeds. I've been getting a combined mileage of 27mpg, which is great.

I had test-driven several competitors such as Accord, Camry, Altima, Saturn, Jetta and Malibu. I was almost set on purchasing the Altima, until I saw the Ford commercial for the Fusion SE Sport. After test-driving the car, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and features it had to offer. I ended up buying the 4-cylinder model for its gas mileage, which is perfect for my teenager who is about to start driving. If gas prices were lower, I would have gone for the 6-cylinder model. Overall, Ford has done an excellent job with this car. However, when it comes time for my daughter to drive, she may not get to drive this one.

I bought my Fusion with the intention of parking my full-size truck. I opted for the 4-cylinder with a stick shift, moon roof, and audiophile stereo. It's a great car on the highway, averaging 31.5mpg. I tested the Accord, and with the same features, it was $10K more expensive than my Fusion. For that price, I would have had to give up 190HP. After 7 years of being a Chevy fan, I am happily moving back to the Ford family. The price, style, fuel economy, and never-quit attitude of the 2.3L engine are all impressive. Keep up the good work, Ford!

We didn't plan on buying a Ford, but we stopped at the dealership on our way to our next destination. My wife fell in love with the car, especially the parking assist feature. It compared favorably with the competition and was much more affordable. So far, it seems sturdy and of good quality. It's a joy to drive for most general uses, including taking children to college. Although it's hard to shake off the past image of Ford, this car is a winner and definitely deserves serious consideration. The only areas that need improvement are the night mirror (too much reflection from the map light fixture) and it's a little underpowered. The I-4 is fine for most uses, but if you can afford the V-6, it's worth considering.

You have 72000 miles on it and have only had one problem with it in 72k, which was the Alternator going out at 50k. Fortunately, it was covered under your bumper to bumper so you only had to pay 100 bucks to get it fixed. You get 28 MPG with the AC on doing 75 to 80. You put Michelin energy saver tires on and are hoping that gets even better. The SYNC is the best and you use it every day because it's so easy to use. The V6 is great; put your foot to the floor and it goes. This is by far the best car you have ever driven.

I have experienced several repairs on my car within a short period of time, including ball joints, serpentine belt, idler pulley, wheel bearings and casing, heater blower, and timing belt and pulley system. These repairs occurred before the car reached 36,000 miles, with the exception of the idler pulley and serpentine belt that recently went bad. Despite having only 52,000 miles on the car, I have found this to be frustrating. Additionally, the car's gas mileage is not ideal in the winter, and the sync radio does not function as it should. However, I acknowledge that many people have had positive experiences with this car, and I wish I could say the same. Overall, I am confident in my assessment of the car's performance based on my personal experience and observations.

After owning this car for nearly 3 years, I have found it to be reliable but expensive. Unfortunately, I recently experienced an issue with the fusebox causing my battery to short and still powering 30amps when the car was off and everything turned off.
