Ford Fusion 2014 problems
The Ford Fusion is a mid-size car that was manufactured and marketed by the Ford Motor Company. From the 2006 through 2020 model years, two generations of the Fusion have been produced in gasoline, gas/electric hybrid, and gas/plug-in electric hybrid variants. The Fusion was manufactured at Ford's Hermosillo Stamping and Assembly plant in Sonora, Mexico, alongside the Lincoln MKZ, and formerly the Mercury Milan, both of which share its CD3 platform.
Production on the first Fusions began on August 1, 2005. The Fusion replaced the Mondeo for the Latin American markets—except in Argentina (where the current European Mondeo is available) and in the United States and Canada (where it superseded the then mid-size Taurus and the compact Contour). The Fusion is positioned between the compact Ford Focus and the full-size Ford Taurus. In the Middle East, this model is sold alongside the Mondeo. Versions sold there are available only with the 2.5-liter engine. Unlike in the United States, Canada, and Latin America, no V6 engine is available in that region. The same is true in South Korea, where only the 2.5-liter engines (including those for the hybrid model) are available as of the 2012 model year.
The second generation line-up includes a gasoline engine option, an EcoBoost engine option, a next-generation hybrid model, and a plug-in hybrid version, the Ford Fusion Energi, making the Ford Fusion the first production sedan to offer these four options. Sales of the gasoline-powered and hybrid versions began in the U.S. in October 2012 under the 2013 model. Sales in Europe and Asia as Ford Mondeo began in 2015, along with South Africa, where the Fusion name was used. Deliveries of the Fusion Energi began in the U.S. in February 2013. The entire 2013 Fusion line-up was awarded with the 2013 Green Car of the Year at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show. In 2019, the Fusion was the seventh-best selling car in the United States.

These vehicles were previously recalled and repaired under recalls 15V-246, 16V-643 or 17V-210, however the repair may not have been completed properly. A component within the door latches may break making the doors difficult to latch and/or leading the driver or a passenger to believe a door is securely closed when, in fact, it is not.
- Consequence: A door that is not securely latched could open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant.
- Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the latch date codes to confirm if the repair was done correctly, and replace the side door latches if necessary, free of charge. Owners will also have the option to inspect their own vehicle's door latches and enter the date codes into a website to determine if the latches are correct. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 27, 2020. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S30.

- Components: STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM
- Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles manufactured February 3, 2012, to March 20, 2015, and 2015 Ford Edge vehicles manufactured February 26, 2015, to February 28, 2015, and originally sold, or currently registered in, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia. In the affected vehicles, snow or water containing road salt or other contaminants may corrode the electric power steering gear motor attachment bolts.
- Consequence: If the bolts corrode, the steering gear motor may detach from the gear housing resulting in a loss of power steering assist. Loss of power steering assist would require a higher steering effort, especially at lower speeds, which may increase the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will apply sealer and replace the steering gear motor bolts as required. If one or more of the steering gear motor attachment bolts are broken or missing, a new steering gear will be installed in the vehicle. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The driver and passenger seatback assemblies may have been produced with sub-standard weld joints used to attach the seat back recliner mechanism to the seat frame. The affected seat backs may have insufficient strength to meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 207, "Seating Systems."
- Consequence: The back of the subject seats may become loose or lean while driving and potentially increase the risk of injury in certain crashes.

I purchased this car after owning a 2007 Fusion that never required any repairs beyond regular maintenance such as tire and brake replacements. With 22k miles on the new car, I only experienced one issue with a faulty seatbelt in the back, which the dealer promptly replaced. The new Fusion is a definite win for EcoBoost, as it gets 27-28 MPG with 240Hp (2.0l turbo), compared to my previous Fusion's 26 MPG (2.3l 4-cyl manual transmission) on my commute to work. Although my Ford Touch can be slow at times, I still love it. The heated and cooled seats are amazing, but the heated steering wheel could use some improvement as only the outer rim heats up. This is the first automatic transmission that I have not disliked. I usually prefer manuals, but my wife convinced me to try an automatic since she cannot/will not drive a manual. Update: After almost 40k miles, I have not encountered any new issues. I simply change the oil, fill up with gas, and drive. Once the construction on my way to work is finished, my gas mileage should improve. Sitting idle in traffic jams does not help. With almost 50k miles, everything still works perfectly. I love the cooled seats, which were definitely worth the investment. During a long trip, I averaged 32 MPG over 2000 miles, which is not bad. The rain-sensing windshield wipers work very well, but they struggle with fine road spray after a rain has stopped.

We purchased our 2014 Fusion in February of that year and absolutely loved it. The car has great looks, especially with the blacked-out rims, and the Dark Side color is fantastic. However, during the heating season, we've had issues with the windshield constantly fogging up, starting at the bottom and working its way to the top. While Ford says this is normal, we tend to disagree. Unfortunately, we've received poor answers from Ford service advisors and regional service reps. Despite these issues, we still love the car, but we may have to consider other options from different competitors.

Hi there! I just wanted to share how much I adore my Fusion S with the 2.5L 6spd auto. It's my go-to car for my daily commute, which is a 75-mile round trip to work. While I reserve my 06 Mustang GT convertible for fun, this car is perfect for everything else and such a great value. It even impresses my customers! The car is smooth, quiet, and attractive, and I love having 175hp when I need it. Plus, I'm getting an amazing 38-41 MPG on the highway, 30 in the suburbs, and 36 combined. How great is that?

I traded in my base model BMW 328i for this Titanium Fusion because I wanted a longer wheelbase and a better ride with more amenities. I recently took the car on a road trip that used to be uncomfortable in my harsh-riding BMW, but the ride quality of the Fusion was incomparable. I'm not comparing the two vehicles, just how my body reacts to the different road feel. I have no regrets about switching to this car, despite the odd looks from my neighbors and the dealership staff. The Fusion drives just as well as my BMW and my VW CC prior to that, but it's more substantial, which is exactly what I was looking for. The handling is tight but not harsh, and I love the increased size of the car.

Excellent car so far! It's very comfortable and has every safety feature imaginable. I understand that you wish it held its value better.

I have brought my brand new vehicle in at least seven times (probably more) in roughly two years. That is absolutely unacceptable for a new car. Below are the major issues that I've brought my vehicle into the dealership for. It's frustrating to not be able to trust this car to be reliable in the future. At this point, I am fed up and on the verge of trading this car in. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Ford to anyone. The regional area managers keep referring me back to their dealerships and they can't seem to correct the numerous issues with their product. All I've gotten from Ford is a Premium Care Extended Service Plan for 5 years 75k for all of this....thanks for nothing! There are obviously issues with Ford and their designs/quality. The 635f transmission on this car, especially, is problematic. Here's the list of my troubles with this: On February 5, 2015 - My vehicle was leaking transmission fluid at 6,412 miles. The front axle shaft assembly needed to be replaced. February 21, 2015 - Transmission was making a grinding noise, shifts rough randomly usually 1st to 2nd, flares shifting when cold, slams into gear from park to reverse randomly. (The dealership said they couldn't reproduce the problem.) May 16, 2015 - Weather stripping on rear door was loose and the p/s wheel well cover was loose due to missing pins. June 16, 2015 - Light sensor was inoperable at 9,255 miles. (The dealership checked the transmission for the same issue as above, but gave the same answer.) July 11, 2015 - I brought the vehicle in for a power steering recall. The mileage display faded in areas when it was hot inside. (The dealership checked the transmission for the same issue as above, but gave the same answer. They were also unable to replicate the mileage display problem.) On February 20th, the rear headliner was hanging down. The audio speaker on the passenger side makes a vibrating noise during certain bass frequencies. The dealership disconnected it and then plugged it back in, but they were not able to correct the issue. Resetting the ACM for the transmission helped for about one week...Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to bring to your attention that the passenger side speaker has been consistently sounding terrible when wet and cold, even after it was replaced. Additionally, I've been experiencing some issues with the transmission and mileage display. I've had to bring my car in for repairs seven times already, and while some of those visits may have been unnecessary, there are still some lingering issues even after 16,000 miles. I would really appreciate your help in resolving these problems. Thank you!

Firstly, I must say that the car looks great! The performance is sweet with the 2.0 Turbo and 240 horsepower, making passing a breeze. I absolutely love the convenience of not having to take the key out of my pocket to start the car, open the trunk, or lock the doors. However, there are a few negatives to consider. As someone who is 6 ft. tall, I find it difficult to get in without banging my head. This design may not be suitable for drivers over 6 ft. or taller. Additionally, the glove box is poorly designed, requiring you to move things around just to shut it, and it's not very spacious. The Ford Touch screen can be frustrating and distracting, as it turns on by itself and adjusting the heat and cool requires pointing your fingertips on a + or - sign. I would prefer old school round knobs that I can turn left or right. The trunk is long, but not high enough to make loading any amount of luggage or cargo practical. Lastly, it would be nice to have daytime running lights and a rear window wiper. Overall, it's a decent car, but Ford needs to prioritize driver ease and practicality.

I recently purchased a 2014 Fusion and took it on a trip to Virginia Beach. Unfortunately, the transmission slipped and the tachometer raced, causing concern. Despite this setback, I was able to safely navigate the car back home at a reduced speed. While there have been some issues with the car, I am confident in my ability to address them and ensure that it runs smoothly in the future.

I purchased a used 2014 Fusion SE with 20,000 miles on it. Unfortunately, at 40,000 miles, the transmission suddenly failed without any warning. Additionally, I have had some trouble with the SYNC system, as it seems to have a mind of its own. For example, the air conditioning will turn on when I want heat. Overall, my experience with this car has been less than ideal. If I could go back in time, I would not have purchased it. Furthermore, I had a negative experience with Kunes Ford in Wisconsin. The staff was not very friendly and made promises they did not keep. When I brought up the transmission issue, they were dismissive and unhelpful. I will not be returning to Kunes Ford in the future. Thank you for taking the time to read my feedback.

The shifting can be a bit challenging at times. It may downshift unexpectedly when going down a steep hill, and occasionally it may not shift at all, causing the RPMs to rise. I took it to the dealer twice, but unfortunately, they were not able to replicate the issue. I reached out to Ford and was informed that they are aware of the issue and are working on a solution. In stop-and-go traffic, it can be a bit jerky when shifting between 1st and 2nd gears.
