2015 Ford Fiesta problems
The Ford Fiesta is a supermini car that was marketed by Ford from 1976 to 2023 over seven generations. Over the years, the Fiesta has mainly been developed and manufactured by Ford's European operations, and had been positioned below the Escort (later the Focus).
Ford had sold over 15 million Fiestas from 1976 to July 2011, making it one of the best-selling Ford nameplates behind the Escort and the F-Series. It has been manufactured in the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela, Mexico, Taiwan, China, India, Thailand, and South Africa.
The Fiesta was discontinued in 2023, after over 22 million units had been made. The final Ford Fiesta rolled off the production line on 7 July 2023.

Common 2015 Ford Fiesta problems
Based on complaints from owners of the Ford Fiesta 2015, several common problems have been reported. Here is a detailed list of these issues:
- Door Latch Failure:
- The door latches on certain 2015 Ford Fiesta vehicles are prone to breakage with normal use. This can lead to doors not closing properly, potentially opening while the vehicle is in motion, posing safety risks to passengers and other road users. The repair involves replacing the door latches on both sides of the vehicle to ensure proper closure and safety.
- Risk of Engine Cylinder Head Damage:
- Ford Fiestas with the 1.6L GTDI engine are at risk of running low on coolant due to a faulty sensor. If the engine overheats due to low coolant levels, the cylinder head might crack, leading to potential engine damage and safety hazards. Technicians need to inspect the engine for damage and may replace the coolant level sensor or even the cylinder head to resolve the issue and prevent further damage.
- Fuel Pump Failure:
- Fiestas built in mid-2014 are prone to fuel pump failure due to improper manufacturing of internal parts. When the fuel pump fails, it can cause the engine to stall, potentially leading to accidents if the vehicle loses momentum unexpectedly. Technicians can resolve this issue by replacing the faulty fuel pump and ensuring it operates at the correct fuel pressure levels.
These common problems reported by owners of the Ford Fiesta 2015 highlight important safety and performance issues that should be addressed promptly to ensure the vehicle's reliability and safety on the road.

ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-01-22
- VIN: 3FADP4CJ2FM
- Components: ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: For as long as I've had my car - 2017 till now - it's had what I term a "hiccup" after receiving gas. The engine would slightly shudder for the first 5-10 minutes after I filled the car with gas. This was not from overfilling the tank as I never max out the tank. I didn't think much about this until a few months ago. A few minutes after filling my car with gas, the engine shuddered severely and the RPM dropped to zero. This caused the engine to die and left me unable to exit from the turn lane. No warning lights appeared on my dash. I turned on the hazard lights and rolled down the window, but eventually all the lights inside the car died. I was stuck in a left turn lane, unable to move. I had to stick my hand out the window to direct other cars to drive around me. I requested a tow via my car insurance company and the drive arrived within ~15 minutes. The tow truck driver was able to restart my car and we towed it to the local Ford Service center. I explained the issue to the service department, but they were unable to replicate the issue and thus did not resolve it. Since then, the same issues has occurred every time I refill the gas tank. Regardless of how much gas is added or how full the tank was after receiving gas. After adding gas, I have begun immediately parking at the gas station to wait out the engine shudders. They do stop after ~10 minutes, but during that time they have caused the engine to die again. In the past weeks, I've also begun to observe a minor engine shudder even when stopped at a red light. I have never observed a warning light. Online research has shown a number of other people experiencing this issue. It seems the likely cause is a faulty fuel vapor purge valve. This valve may be allowing liquid fuel to flow to the engine, causing the engine to shudder and die. I will be taking my car to a different service center in hopes of the issues being resolved and not getting stranded again. POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-03-05
- VIN: 3FADP4EJ5FM
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: I’ve owned my 2015 Ford Fiesta for about 7 years now. Within the first year, I contacted the Ford dealership explaining noises when driving and my dual clutch shifting gears. I sent them video sound recordings. They said it was typical of this transmission. The car has never felt smooth but “ok enough,” until 18months ago when I reported gears slipping. No error codes were detected but parts of my clutch were replaced. Now, 16,000 miles later I brought my car into ford dealership saying I felt the gears slipping. They diagnosed a few other maintenance pieces like brakes and tires but said nothing was detected with the transmission and clutch. 3 weeks later, I was driving on a highway - lake shore drive in chicago, and my check engine light came on. My car would not change gears or accelerate past the 30mph I had been going. I felt like I was in neutral. I exited, fearing an accident. In stop and go traffic I used my hazard lights because I could not accelerate at each stop sign. I made it to a safe spot to pull over and then realized i could not reverse! I had my car towed to the ford dealer from 3 weeks prior. At this point they could read a few clutch error codes but cannot be certain of the actual cause. In order to do so, they need my consent of a possible $1500 service charge for investigating the issue. Ford costumer service line has said “oh wow, we’re glad your weren’t in an accident. I’m Sorry, your car does not meet criteria for any support from Ford.” Ford has knowingly kept these faulty transmissions on the road and now they are telling me that they will not help look into my vehicle’s transmission and safety issues. This seems unreasonable when the issue is clearly linked to the faulty dual clutch Powershift system. 1.5 million Ford Fiestas may still be registered and driven with Ford offering nothing other than “I’m really glad you dodged an accident and made it off the highway.”

It's a small car that can fit up to five passengers, although it's more comfortable for those who are on the thinner side. It's a great car for people who prefer smaller vehicles. I bought it because my wife enjoys driving compact cars.
-
I hope you're doing well! I wanted to let you know that I never have a problem. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help.
-
Although I only have 25000 miles on my car, I have never had any issues. The only downside is that the trade-in value to dealerships is not great.
-
I had this for two months and I absolutely love it! It feels so comfortable to drive and I especially love the rims and seats. The inside is spacious and the front is roomy. The grill and color are also fantastic!
-
I am so glad I purchased this for my mom on Mother's Day 2017. Unfortunately, she was hit by a car yesterday and the impact was so strong that the car's passenger side rear tire was separated. Thankfully, God was with her during the impact and the side airbags deployed. Despite being 81 years old and having renewed her driver's license just last year, she is doing okay. I am planning on purchasing another one very soon.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to let you know that I recently purchased a car from Ford, but unfortunately, it seems to have a transmission issue. Although I'm a bit disappointed that they didn't mention it to me before selling it, I'm hoping to get it fixed soon. I've noticed that this seems to be a recurring issue with the automatic vs model since 2011. Have you experienced anything similar?

Hey there! I just wanted to share my experience with the Ford Fiesta. Unfortunately, I had some trouble with the transmission and had to have it replaced twice in a short period of time. As a result, I decided to sell the car. Interestingly, the person who bought it from me also experienced transmission issues just 6 months later. I hope this information helps you make an informed decision!

I owned a Ford Fiesta 2015 SE for 5 years and unfortunately, my experience with it was not great. While the gas mileage was decent, I found the plus and minus buttons on the shifter to be a bit problematic. They caused the car to level off the ground about an inch or 2, which made it difficult to shift in sport mode. Additionally, the car did not provide good lumbar support, making it uncomfortable for long drives. Another issue I faced was accidentally pressing the + button while reversing, which caused the car to level off the ground and created a blind spot, especially for someone who is short. It was quite frustrating. Furthermore, the Sync and Bluetooth stopped working at the end of the warranty, which was disappointing. I'm not sure if this was a common issue among other owners, but it did make me question the dealership I got the car from. Unfortunately, I also experienced other defects with the car, such as the ABS light and leaky struts. Overall, my experience with this car was not enjoyable after the first year.

The car has performed well, but I had to replace the passenger seat belt and recently the check engine light came on. However, since the repairs earlier mentioned, the car has been reliable.

I own a 2014 and a 2015 Ford Fiesta. I have made 5 complaints to the NHTSA so far. I would like to share my most recent experience with the 2015, which was pretty unbelievable. I am 100% disabled but work occasionally via the SSA Ticket to Work program, making deliveries using my 2015 Ford Fiesta SE. On 9/11/22 at 4:30 AM, I was delivering a package in Waterford, MI, on the north side of the road. As I backed out of the driveway, now facing east and a busy road, Hiller Rd., I had only just gotten in the car with no seatbelt on and was going to back up and buckle my belt. I switched from reverse to drive, foot still on the brake, and the car took off as if I had stomped on the accelerator, but my foot was still on the brake. I hit the brakes, but the car flew almost to Hiller Rd. The brakes were not working, but the steering worked. I tried to slow down and was on the south side of the road on people's lawns. Going so fast, I went into a ditch, then came up out of the ditch and narrowly avoided mailboxes. The last house before Hiller Rd. on my right was at least 1/5 mile away, and the car was tearing down the road. I tried to slow down in the large lot next door to that house, but it didn't work. They have huge boulders along the edge of the grass, and I not only slammed into a boulder, but they had chopped down trees too and laid them down along the edge of the grass with the boulders. The car went up against gravity onto one of these trees before hitting the boulder. If you can imagine, from hood to bumper and further out each end, I was up on top of a tree, the bumpers dug into it, so the 4 tires were loose on each side, and the front hit the boulder. I hadn't put on my seatbelt yet, and my head slammed into the steering wheel. The airbags didn't deploy again, and my $400 cell phone screen split and cracked. I hit my head so hard that it knocked me out, and I'm not sure how long I was out for. I came to and was on a tree, and I tried to somehow dig the car out with a flashlight and crowbar. The tow driver had to chop up the tree I was on and pull me back from the boulder. I was stuck there for hours. My phone screen shattered and had to be replaced. I also had to pay $125 for a tow and my car got scratched and bumped due to the incident with my Ford Fiesta. I had a scary experience while delivering in a rural area during snowfall. Luckily, I had my seatbelt on and was not hurt. A kind farmer and his girlfriend helped me out of the ditch and noticed my car's basic S-curve. I spent $325 on new brakes and rotors. Overall, it was a stressful experience, but I am grateful for the help I received. Here is another NHTSA complaint in case you experience similar issues. About a year ago, I spent over $1,000 fixing everything on this car, but no one offered any information about recalls. At only 21,000-23,000 miles, I noticed some odd shuddering at low speeds, like shaking, but only when going slower. Then it did other things, seeming like maybe it was when parking or backing up. The car would switch to neutral on its own. Additionally, the car kept starting even after I removed the remote starter. I would find the car running by itself with no key in the ignition. I have a two-year-old battery from Costco under warranty. Last week, coming home, the car lost all power, but luckily I was able to glide into the garage. I spent days checking everything, from terminals to fuses, but the battery should have been 12.5 amps, and it was only 3.5 amps, so it could not be jump-started. I had to tow it to Costco, then Midas. After spending $1,100, I got a ride to pick it up, but when I started the car, the dashboard showed an orange wrench and said,
