- Summary: 12/4/2023 while attempting to pull into a parking spot in a parking garage car suddenly accelerated forward at a very fast rate, just prior to acceleration felt like it shuddered. Afraid that it would keep going and go over edge so I pulled to the right while trying to brake and hit a concrete barrier. Terrifying! October 23, 2019 another couple had this happen in another parking garage downtown Indianapolis and they were killed. Car went over the edge. Must have been on my mind! Have owned this car since 02/23/2022, no problems whatsoever, checked out in September of this 2023, all maintenance up to date. Weather was dry and floor pads were not in way (bringing this up because I was asked this by a friend). Been driving 50+ years and never had a car do this. Hit the front drivers side of the car, air bags did NOT deploy, but the insurance company totaled my car. The Capitol Police happened to be in the garage at the time making rounds and were on the scene in seconds from when it happened. Luckily that morning I decided to park on the upper level of the garage and no one else had their car damaged and nobody was hurt including myself. Just prior to trying to turn into the parking space the car had been traveling uphill to the 5th floor - going very slow. A lot of people walking and other cars around trying to park. Don't know if this has anything to do with it but on Tuesday, December 19th, another employee had the same thing happen in the same garage. Her car was a different make and model and was not damaged hardly at all but her airbags deployed! The only thing in common is same garage and there has been extensive construction going on in the garage for months now. Not trying to get anything out of this but this could have had far more serious consequences if this had happened at one of the half dozen intersections I went through that morning before arriving in the garage. Lucky no one was hurt or killed. Apparently this happens a lot!

While traveling in the right lane on the Interstate (I-43) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, heading southbound with a semi-truck in the center lane, the rear of my vehicle seemed to Lift/Rise off the ground and move (as if the rear of my auto was floating) to the right. I was at the point of being between at the semi-trucks front right tire and his bumper. I was involved in an accident with said semi-truck, thinking he was changing lanes from center lane to right lane and bumped my Left-Rear-Quarter-Panel. After much though and calming down, it seems as if my auto was pushed or lifted in a hydro plane effect by the air between my auto and the semi-truck. The day was clear and dry out around 10:45 AM, on July 15th. 2021. My question is: How many of these Ford Fiesta cars (with manual transmission) have had some type of highway collision with a semi-truck? Or, an unexplained loss (effect) of control while driving on the Interstate. Yes, a rear kind of Hydro-Plane affect with air pressure. Did I really have this happen to me while driving this car, I believe so.

I bought my 2017 in 2018 and I absolutely love my 5 speed SE! It's so comfortable and gets an amazing 45 miles to the gallon. Plus, there's plenty of room inside. I just can't get enough of it!

Your car sounds great! It has been reliable with only minor issues, such as the airco vents tapping and the occasional radio start-up. The firmware upgrades have improved compatibility with Amazon Audible, Google maps, and more. I appreciate that you have a manual geared car, as the automatic gearboxes on the Fiesta are not great. The ST has an awesome gearbox! The suspension and tires are a bit rough, but swapping them out for 16The 4 cylinder version can easily be equipped with a larger turbo (generating a bit of lag) doing 250HP with a mild stage 1 or 2 tune. Some people say the engine could potentially do 400HP, but 300HP has been done before. 250 is really all it needs, while still being able to run standard gasoline! Additionally, it's worth noting that the 4 cylinder version is lighter and more efficient than its counterpart with a higher torque figure.

I would definitely buy this commuter again! It's a manual and so much fun to drive. Plus, I've put 70,000 miles on it and haven't had a single issue.

Hello everyone! I recently had to upgrade to a 2017 Ford Fiesta after my 2011 Ford Fusion was totaled, and I have to say, it was a blessing in disguise. This car is one of the best I've ever driven! Not only is it efficient, but it also has great power and handling. As someone who drives between 200 and 300 miles a day, I can attest that this car still gives me 30 miles per gallon even when I'm driving at a continual rate of 80 mph. In comparison, my 2011 Ford Fusion with a base four-cylinder only gave me 12 to 16 miles per gallon. The Fiesta has enough power to keep up with just about anything on the road, thanks to its 4.04 Final Drive ratio. Ford really hit the mark with this car, and I would definitely choose it again over another Fusion or a Focus. Although I've only had this car for a couple of weeks, I really like how you can shift gears yourself, which comes in handy in traffic. As others have mentioned, it can gear hunt sometimes (keep in mind it is a dual clutch manual), but overall, this car is amazing! I was lucky enough to get mine with a sunroof, but unfortunately, I did not get the Sync Three system as another reviewer recommended.I think Ford may have intentionally made the Bluetooth audio a bit difficult to work with the base radio. As a delivery carrier, I get in and out of my car about 25-30 times a day, and I find that it often switches to AUX. Instead of just pressing one button, you have to inconveniently go through the menu and switch to Bluetooth again. However, this is a cheap car, and if I could do it all over again, I would have tried to search for the Titanium model. But then again, this is a used car. I would recommend anyone searching for one of these cars to get the Sync 3 system, as it's really hard to find a radio that fits this kind of car. I've never been able to get the stated mileage or EPA of the vehicle until I got this great commuter car. It's perfect for one to two people, but I would not recommend it for families, as the reviewers have said this car does have a small trunk and small backseat. However, I own another vehicle for that purpose. This would be a great vehicle if your expectations are something to get just you around town or a first-time driver's car. I still recommend it for first-time drivers because if they have passengers and they want to complain, they can get their own car. My advice if you get one is to keep it, as I see these things becoming what 90's Civics used to be: fun and efficient. But maybe not reliable, I'm not sure about that part yet.

I appreciate your love for the car on dry roads. However, it seems that the car struggles in snow, rain, or mud, even with mud and snow tires. It's interesting to note that you have owned front wheel drive vehicles in the past and never had an issue on snow. It's unfortunate that this car doesn't perform as well in those conditions. It sounds like it may be best suited as a garage queen for the fall, winter, and spring. It's great to hear that you have a Subaru to drive during those times. While this car may be a great fit for California, it may not be the best option for where you live.

If you're considering purchasing one, I would recommend getting a pack of earbuds! After Hurricane Harvey, our insurance company offered us a rental car from Hertz. While I'm grateful for the assistance, I'm not a fan of this particular car. The noise on the highway is quite loud and can be unbearable. Personally, I wouldn't even accept this car for free. However, I will say that the mpg is impressive at 35.6! :)

I was really interested in buying the 2018 ST model, but unfortunately, the dealerships in my region were selling them for more than they were worth last year. Even the new 2019 North America model was less of a value. I wonder why Ford doesn't bring the same specifications offered in Europe at a value price to entice buyers like me. I searched high and low last year and this year, but the pricing was higher this year than last year. I think the car is extremely attractive at 16-17k, but any higher than this and the car quickly loses its appeal as the car depreciation appears to be extremely high. After searching high and low for a deal, I ended up getting a used car that offers better technology and value. I gave the car a low two-star rating primarily based on its price. If you can get one for 16K new, then the car would be a 5-star for its featureset and value. There are lots of nice cars out there for the price, not new but good nice cars.

I purchased my car in February and unfortunately, today I had a bit of a frustrating experience. I needed to fill up my gas tank, but I didn't have enough fuel to make it to the gas station. It was dark and raining, but I wanted to be prepared for tomorrow morning, so I went out in my other car to get some gas. When I returned, I tried to pour the gas into my car, but it spilled all over the side. I realized that I needed a funnel, so I went to search for one. After finding one, I tried again, but it still spilled everywhere. I later discovered that I needed a special funnel to pour gas into my car. Although this was frustrating, I am grateful that it wasn't an emergency situation. I am also disappointed that the plastic around the windows is slowly peeling back on my back window and that there is a leak in the trunk. Despite these issues, I am hopeful that I can find a solution to these problems.

This car has had several issues since I bought it brand new. It struggles with long commutes and steep hills, and is not ideal for bumper-to-bumper traffic. Despite keeping up with scheduled maintenance, I have experienced emissions problems and the car won't start after refuelling. Unfortunately, the dealership did not address this issue when I brought it in for the check engine light, and Ford stated that emissions issues were not covered under my maintenance package. Overall, this car has not been reliable for my needs, especially for frequent and long-distance driving.
