Ford had sold over 15 million Fiestas from 1976 to July 2011, making it one of the best-selling Ford nameplates behind the Escort and the F-Series. It has been manufactured in the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela, Mexico, Taiwan, China, India, Thailand, and South Africa.

I researched any recalls and found "Part 573 Safety Recall Report 23V-905", which only covers two different models, the Focus and the Eco Sport, with precisely the same EcoBoost 1.0 Liter engine. I recently sent it to an independent service station to perform that which the recall describes, as a recall notice did not happen, but the service foreman stated it cannot be successfully repaired, as the oiling system was completely compromised, causing catastrophic damage to the valves, cylinders, turbo system, and vacuum pump.

- Summary: My clutch slave cylinder failed with approximately 64000 mi on the vehicle. This is a hydraulic system sharing the same reservoir as the brakes. The clutch pedal stuck to the floor leaving me unable to change gear while driving on the highway. Had to pull off on the side of the road and manually pull up the clutch with my hand. After that it functioned seemingly fine. I took the car to a local garage who diagnosed the issue and said it was fairly common on these cars. Part has not been replaced yet so it cannot be inspected but it is scheduled to go in to have the transmission dropped and slave cylinder replaced. There were no lamps messages or other warning signs prior to the incident on the highway aside from a slight softening of the clutch feel which occured during the months proceeding the failure. The clutch in this vehicle is notoriously soft to begin with so it did not feel much different. Thank you

- Summary: I started to notice a bit of resistance when pressing on the brakes. Minor initially, but then if you had to apply slightly more pressure the car would jerk/pull hard to the right. The harder and faster you had to press, the more intense the jerk. I took her in to the dealership and they noticed something with the reservoir into the hydraulics unit that feeds fluid into the brakes. The fluids are not circulating back into it and the caliper is not building enough pressure to close. They said it's the ABS Hydraulic Control Unit: D2BZ-2C405-E and the part is on national backorder with no ETA. The car is unsafe to drive without the part. She's a 2014 with only 28k miles and it seems strange to have this failure with such low mileage. I just have texts with the dealership right now. I spoke with Ford directly today and they guesstimated 5-6 months for the part. I ordered a used part and will take her to another mechanic to get it replaced in the interim since the dealership won't work with a used part. At that point I will have invoices. Thanks.

Vehicle year: 2012
I highly recommend purchasing a Fiesta with a 5-speed manual transmission. I have personally owned one for almost 5 years and have driven it for 96,000 miles with virtually no maintenance issues, aside from routine oil changes, brakes (once), and tires (once). I have found that those who have had negative experiences with the Fiesta typically had the poorly designed 'automatic' transmission, which tended to leak oil onto the clutches and shift poorly. In contrast, my 5-speed stick-shift has had no powertrain issues whatsoever. I continue to get an impressive 36 MPG, even with a 60/40 highway/city commute. Although the driver's seat and floor mats are showing some wear and tear, the car itself is holding up very well for an econo-box commuter car. It's worth noting that the back seat is not suitable for anyone over 4 feet tall. Overall, I highly recommend the Fiesta as a reliable and efficient car for daily use.

This car is perfect for those who love to drive! The suspension is tight but not punishing, and the optional Recaro seats are awesome. The handling is stunning, although there is a little too much body roll for my liking. The car has lots of power on tap, but the main thing is that it's simply a blast to drive. While there are many cars that can beat it in a drag race, few can keep up with it on a windy road. The reason it doesn't go 0-60 faster is due to traction - Ford severely limits 1st gear boost, gives about half-boost in 2nd, and then full boost in 3rd and beyond. This is because the car is very light, and with 197 hp and ~230 ft/lb torque at the wheels (Ford severely underrates its power), it would sit and burn the tires without reducing boost. The good thing is that Mountune makes Ford-approved modifications that don't void the warranty. After almost two months with the car, I am still thrilled every time I get to drive my ST. All the YouTube videos are right - it's surprisingly fun to drive. And if you can keep your foot out of it, you can get some great MPGs on the freeway. I got 34 on a relatively flat freeway drive at about 68mph. This is the best car ever, seriously. It has all the fun of a small Porsche or BMW without the snobbiness, high cost, and bad gas mileage. I have owned it for 19 months now and love it even more. I bought an AccessPort to load custom engine tunes and the Mountune intake. Randy Robles did a 93 octane tune that came with the AccessPort. It's unbelievable how powerful it is now. I also added a Hey there! Unfortunately, they don't have 93 octane fuel here, but I found a great solution. I purchased a 91 octane tune from Dizzy and an e30 tune from Dizzy that allows me to mix ethanol with 91 octane. I don't drive the car hard at all, but I do enjoy an occasional pull in the passing lane or on a freeway onramp. With the 91 tune, the car feels very quick, and with the e30 tune, it's too fast for its tires. The best part is that it's easy to switch back and forth if you can't find e85. By the way, it will go at least 15 miles after reading empty! In the winter of '18-'19, I sprayed the underside and wheel wells with Fluid Film. This definitely kept salt away from anything metal underneath, and when I washed it all off in the spring, everything looked like new. If you're in a salt state, definitely take time to do this. I must mention that the blend door actuator that directs where ventilation goes inside the cabin is the ONLY common flaw on this car. At just over a year of ownership, mine stopped working, so the heat/AC is stuck on foot well and dash vents. I could have it replaced under warranty and still might, but I'd rather know the dash is going back together correctly than have a dealer leave me with squeaks or rattles. It's not hard to do myself, just need time.

My 22 year old son and I needed a car after a lady wrecked his new scooter. We went for the least expensive safe new car we could find and the Ford Fiesta came through big time. We can't believe what a great value this fun-to-drive car is. No complaints, just love!

I bought my Fiesta back in September 2011. I had to order it because they don't stay on the lots for very long. I drove it from Abilene, Texas to Dallas, which is a three-hour drive, and let me tell you, this car zips around! It actually exceeded my expectations on the highway. After three hours, it can get a bit uncomfortable to drive, but I didn't buy the car for long distances anyway. I purchased it to save gas and get back and forth to work, which is a round trip of 40 miles. It's great on gas and it's a fun car to drive. It's a very maneuverable vehicle, and I can now park in tight spots with ease. Ford finally made a vehicle with style, character, and zip! I've only had it for two weeks, but I already love this car!

At first, everything was going smoothly and the car was performing well. However, after driving it for 5,000 miles, I started experiencing some issues with the automatic transmission. Unfortunately, I've had to take it to the dealership five times now for transmission work, and the problem still persists. The transmission shudders, hesitates, and lurches in stop and go traffic or when slowing then starting up again such as at a stop light or stop sign. The dealership has acknowledged that there is a problem with this transmission, but they have not yet agreed to replace it. I would not recommend purchasing this car. My husband and I felt pressured into buying it and have had a lot of issues with it. While the fuel economy is good, the car has had a persistent shaking problem since we bought it. We took it to the dealership multiple times and were told everything was fine, but the issue persisted. Additionally, the car has had multiple open recalls and the battery has died twice, even though we were told it was new. Recently, the car has also been displaying a transmission malfunction warning. It's been frustrating to deal with these issues, especially since we rely on the car for school and work. I hope others have a better experience with this car.

Ford automobiles are notorious for their transmission problems, and unfortunately, our Fiesta has been plagued with this issue for the past two years. Despite all the recalls and multiple attempts to fix the problem, including replacing the engine computer (PCM), the car still shuts off on the road, leaving us in unsafe situations. The car has been in the dealer's garage for months on end, and even after all this time, it's still not safe to drive on the freeway. We've also experienced issues with the doors and entertainment system. It's frustrating to have a car that's so unreliable, especially when compared to my 91 Toyota pickup, which has been much more dependable. We're currently dealing with another transmission issue, and it's disappointing that we have to keep taking it in for repairs until the warranty runs out. Despite our experiences, we remain hopeful that Ford will eventually find a solution to these problems.

Although I am disappointed with my purchase, I have had a number of issues with the car over the past 4 years. Despite having only 37,000 miles on the clock, I have had to take it to the dealership's service center numerous times for major transmission and electrical problems, as well as a broken AC. I purchased an extended warranty, but unfortunately it did not cover everything as I had hoped. I have found the charges for repairs to be excessive, especially for issues that should not occur in a new car. While I have had a negative experience with this Ford, I acknowledge that other models may perform better. However, I have decided to switch to a Honda CRV, which has a reputation for reliability.
