2022 Ford Bronco sport problems
The Ford Bronco Sport is a compact crossover SUV sold by Ford Motor Company and marketed under the Ford Bronco nameplate. It was released alongside the sixth generation Bronco body-on-frame SUV, featuring a similar retro and off-road styling in a smaller footprint. The vehicle is based on the front-wheel drive-based, unibody C2 platform, which is also used by the Ford Escape crossover and Maverick pickup.
Powertrain
Engine
The Bronco Sport has two engine options. The base engine is a turbocharged 1.5-liter Ecoboost I3 engine producing 181 hp (184 PS; 135 kW) at 6,000 rpm, and 190 lb⋅ft (260 N⋅m; 26 kg⋅m) of torque at 3,000 rpm. It is also available with a turbocharged 2.0-liter Ecoboost I4 engine producing 245 hp (248 PS; 183 kW) at 6,000 rpm, and 275 lb⋅ft (373 N⋅m; 38.0 kg⋅m) of torque at 3,000 rpm. Both engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
4x4 drive system
The Bronco Sport comes equipped with an all-wheel drive system with "G.O.A.T. Modes" (Goes Over Any Terrain). The G.O.A.T. modes allow the driver to select different terrains for the 4x4 system. The Bronco Sport has four-wheel independent suspension. Only the Badlands model has a twin-clutch rear differential that can act as a rear differential locker based on the GK drive system used in the Focus RS, and has torque vectoring. Unlike the Bronco, the Bronco Sport does not have a low-range transfer case. Instead of having traditional front bump stops, the Badlands model Bronco Sport has hydraulic bump stops. The Base, Big Bend, and Outer Banks models share the same AWD system as the Escape, with proprietary programming for off-road use. The Bronco Sport has the tow capability of 2,000–2,200 lb (907–998 kg) depending on the engine.

Common 2022 Ford Bronco sport problems
The 2022 Ford Bronco Sport has been reported to have several common problems based on complaints from owners. These issues include:
- Paint Chipping: The 2021 Ford Bronco Sport has been reported to suffer from paint chipping, which can lead to corrosion and more severe paint damage. It is unclear if this issue is specific to the 2021 model or if it affects other model years.
- 4WD Overheating: The Bronco Sport is not as off-road friendly as the larger Bronco, but it still has an adventurous and utilitarian image. However, there have been reports of the 4WD system overheating during off-road use, which can leave drivers stranded.
- Engine Issues: The Bronco Sport has been reported to have several engine-related issues, including engine rattling caused by low-grade fuel or oil leaks that could potentially set the engine on fire. Some owners have reported that the engine has refused to turn on, even after Ford replaced the entire engine under warranty twice.
- Suspension Problems: The Bronco Sport has been recalled twice due to suspension problems. The first recall (21V075000) was due to missing or loose rear suspension bolts that could cause the suspension system to fail. The second recall (21V074000) was due to incorrect front lower control arms being used, which could cause the car to rattle and vibrate.
- Brake-related Problems: The Bronco Sport has been reported to have brake-related problems, including a severe lack of braking power that led to a recall (21V922000). Some owners have reported a "whale noise" from the rear brakes when operating the vehicle in reverse, which can be concerning.
In conclusion, while the Ford Bronco Sport has been a successful vehicle for Ford, it has had its share of problems based on complaints from owners. These issues range from fuel leaks and paint chipping to engine and suspension problems, as well as brake-related issues. It is essential for owners to stay on top of these weak spots and maintain the vehicle properly to minimize potential breakdowns.

When inside, no lights of any kind were on, the welcome screen was black, and no dinging that typically happens when the driver door is open. When I attempted to start my vehicle (I have a physical key, not a press to start) the car had no response, just silence. I have dealt with dead batteries before and could hear clicking when trying to start the car but I have never experienced complete silence like this. It was as if an EMP hit my car. After 3 replacements, they believe they know what is causing it and even though all the failures occurred under warranty they want to charge $2700 for a decontamination in the coolant lines because they now believe that is the cause. My safety is put at risk daily as I risk my engine blowing up from faulty water pumps. When I did not have the $2700 to repair the decontamination, they told me I would just need an additional water pump down the line. Service records will be attached to this report. No warning lamps or messages, just a strong smell of coolant. Also, the seals on the rear drive shaft leak, they repaired a seal. Now the rear vent tube is leaking. The warranty and extended warranty does not cover the repair. Ford refuses to fix the problem and the dealership continues to say Ford is aware of the issues with that vehicle year but they refuse to fix them.

POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-06-28
- VIN: 3FMCR9D98NR
- Components: POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE
- Summary: June 28th, 2024; the entire car turned off on its own while I was waiting for a red light. The engine was primarily off from the auto-start feature, like normal, except after I let go of the brake the entire car just shuts off. The start button would not press, the brake pedal was insanely stiff to press, and the dashboard had all the lights turned on an off, and I couldn't change gears whatsoever. Many displays on the dash appeared, parking brake was forced to turn on, pre-collision feature disabled, "System off to save battery" on the main screen, etc. I was in the middle of traffic, so I was putting myself and others in danger while my car suddenly shuts off without prior warning. There was never an indication that this would happen, and I only had the car for a year and a half, so I would think the only problem would be the system itself. I managed to turn the car on by putting the key fob on the center console where the Bronco can read it, and it immediately turned on after an hour. The dealership did check it out right after and said it only needed a small system update. Ever since, the car was fine until July 24th: the car did not start again. I was home and my car was parked, so no danger this time. However, I tried laying the key on the console again, including my spare key, but no luck. I had originally thought it was the battery in my key that was low, but it was working fine like always. However, when I locked the car, the horn and lights were faded, and weren't as strong as it should sound. Although this is the second occurrence in about a month, I've only had the dealership inspect it once. I am available for inspection after August 1st. Thank you.

I have been waiting for Ford to address the issues my husband and I experienced during a major wreck in October 2022. Unfortunately, they have not yet taken any action. We encountered problems with air bags not deploying, the steering wheel coming off and falling into our laps (without an air bag), which caused my husband to suffer a broken and fractured arm. Additionally, the headrests had popped off, resulting in bulging disks, and my husband had a laceration from the visor popping off and slicing his head open. Despite all of this, we are grateful to be alive and able to share our story. I am concerned about the safety of other Bronco Sport drivers, as there have been no recalls for these issues.

I hope you're doing well! I wanted to share my experience with the Bronco. I purchased it in a pinch when I was stranded away from home and couldn't get a rental car. Although it was cute, I found it uncomfortable to drive and it didn't perform as well as I had hoped. However, my 11-year-old daughter loved it and thought it was the best car ever! I think it would be a great fit for a young college or teenage girl. The sound system was really impressive, and I loved the display screen when I opened the door. Ultimately, I ended up trading it in for a 2023 Palisade, which was a better fit for me. Thank you for letting me share my experience with you!

I will be trading in this Ford for a Toyota RAV4 due to the numerous issues I have experienced. The alternator and water pump have failed, and parts are not readily available. Additionally, the electrical issues have proven to be unsolvable, and it appears that the dealers are not fond of the Bronco Sport. It is evident that the engineering teams did not prioritize service when designing this vehicle, as evidenced by the negative body language displayed by the service department when they see my car.

The vehicle exhibits a rough and loud driving experience at low speeds, accompanied by unexplained metal scraping and fluttering noises. Despite the lack of assistance from Ford, I am confident in my ability to diagnose and resolve these issues to improve the driving experience.

The 2.0 ecoboost engine is truly exceptional, delivering an outstanding driving experience and boasting an impressive interior. However, it is currently at the dealer for a major electrical issue, despite having only 17k miles. Despite this setback, the vehicle's performance remains top-notch, with the 4wd turned off and steering now tight. While the gas mileage is average at best, this is a minor issue in the grand scheme of things.
