Nearly identical badge engineered variants were marketed globally using the Cascada nameplate under four General Motors brands: Opel, Vauxhall, Holden and Buick — and the Opel Cabrio nameplate in Spain.
The 2+2 convertible was engineered at Opel's International Technical Engineering Center in Rüsselsheim, Germany, and was styled under the direction of Mark Adams, head of Opel design, at Opel's Rüsselsheim Design Center — with Andrew Dyson (exterior) and Elizabeth Wetzel (interior).
After debuting at the 2012 Geneva Auto Show, the brand variants were manufactured in Gliwice, Poland, up until assembly ended on 28 June 2019 — with a combined total of 48,500 produced and the final Cascada manufactured for the US market.

ENGINE PROBLEM

- Summary: A squealing sound was coming from the top of my engine and I had low/rough idle and it progressed to a low voltage output and check engine lights. I was able to use GM's Special Coverage Adjustment N232395320 Camshaft Cover (for the 2019 Cascada) and Special Coverage Adjustment N192291620 Camshaft Cover Replacement (for the 2016 Cascada) to CONFIRM that I had a broken/cracked PCV. The PCV vent constantly pulled vacuum (was stuck open to atmosphere) and the sound was only relieved by removing the dip stick. I took my car to the Buick Dealership for an official Diagnostic repair order and to contact GM. The dealership did a poor job of communicating the issue but eventually reported that my PCV was leaking. This is a $1800-$2000 repair(I'm outside my warranty period as I'm at 72K miles) that GM only offered $110 to the dealership as cost assistance. The offer does not cover the $170 diagnostic fee. The PCV in the Casada is integrated into the Camshaft cover and requires that then entire cover be replaced for the repair. There is NO part number difference in the Camshaft cover between model years 2016 thru 2019 Cascadas. I believe that the 2017 should be included in the same Special coverage as the 2016 and 2019 model years. This issue has been noted in several Casada forums and is also the same as NHTSA complaint IDs: 11593462, 11587414, 11574318, 11515179. Note: I would like to attach a video of the testing required to confirm the PCV issue per the Special Coverage Adjustments noted above, but it is not in your supported file submissions formats. Please provide me with an email, drop box, etc location and I will forward it.

The manufacturer was notified of the failure but denied the request for a reimbursement since the vehicle was not serviced at the dealer. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 45,928.

- Summary: Took 2017 Buick Cascada in for repair following whistling noise and stalling while idle. This vehicle only has 42K miles. The mechanic was concerned this could/should be a recall issue due to the low mileage on the vehicle. On Google searches, I found similar issues were reported and GM extended the warranty on Buick Cascadas for different years. Both the 2016 and 2019 had a Global Warranty for PCV issues and Camshaft covers. "GLOBAL SAFETY FIELD INVESTIGATIONS [XXX] URGENT - DISTRIBUTE IMMEDIATELY Date: February 16, 2023 Subject: [XXX]- Special Coverage Camshaft Cover The mechanic stated, "the built-in PCV system has failed causing a vacuum issue within the engine and requires the entire camshaft cover to need replacement." The mechanic was unable to do the repair and suggested the vehicle be taken to a GM dealership. It is scheduled for repair at McElveeen Buick in Summerville, SC in the next couple of days. The check engine warning light is on and the vehicle has stalled while idling in traffic. There is a whistling noise resembling a worn belt noise in the right front of the engine. I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN PART BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY FEATURE, AS IT STATES ON THE NEW CAR STICKER.

I'm so glad to hear that you've been enjoying your Cascada for the past month! The design is really classy and the leather interior is extremely well designed. It's great to hear that you had a successful road trip of 1100 miles, even with strong winds in New Mexico. The Cascada really held up well and it's impressive that you were able to maintain a speed of 80 MPH and still get 26 MPG. I love that the Cascada allows for extra room in the trunk when the top is up, it's so convenient! The sound system is also top of the class and it's great that the road noise is kept at a minimum, even at high speeds. Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

I noticed that the Cascada, introduced about 3 years ago, is an Opel. As a result, I realized that the electronics and safety features would not match my wife's 2016 Subaru Outback with the eyesight package, which is an exceptional and versatile wagon. However, the Cascada never fails to put a smile on my face. The style is great, and the handling is impressive thanks to the HiPer Strut up front and Watt Z link rear suspension, which provides a taut yet comfortable ride. The top goes up and down quickly and at a reasonable speed. In terms of fuel economy, I got around 20 mpg in town and 33 mpg on the highway, with two stops and cruise control set at 70 mph from Dallas to Conway, AR. I am very pleased with this. The seats are adequate, and the navigation system is probably around 3 years old. The car has some nice touches, such as rain-sensing wipers and a heated steering wheel. It is also quiet for a convertible, and the sound system is fantastic. The Cascada is designed for cruising on a sunny day, with the top down, traveling down two-lane back roads in Arkansas (or any other state). It will definitely put a smile on your face. After a year, I still look forward to driving the Cascada. I have not experienced any mechanical problems, only minor annoyances such as the cup holder area being too small for two full-sized cups and the device to hold either door open not being strong enough to stop them from trying to attack my shins. However, this has been a problem with every two-door car I have owned. If you ever find yourself on I-40 in western Arkansas and see the exit to the They sold their interest in the Opel group, and unfortunately, there will not be a new Cascada, making it an orphan auto. It's uncertain whether parts will be available, but I hope they will be. Although an Audi wasn't that much more expensive, I still have a great deal of affection for the Cascada. As of 2/10/20, it still runs and looks good, with absolutely no mechanical issues. The top still goes up and down with no problems and no leaks. I usually park in the back 40 of the parking lot to avoid door dings, which can be nasty. Our Subaru is the same age, with 5 times as many miles, parked anywhere, and almost ding-free. The Cascada's paint may be a bit fragile, but I plan to keep it for the long run. As of 8/17/2017, it has only 500 miles, but I still enjoy driving it, especially during the pandemic. I don't need other people to take a spirited drive through the Ouachita mountains, which are better suited for the car. I believe a lot of the two-lane roads were laid out by a drunk goat, but it's great fun. As of 2/17/21 in Conway, AR, there's 8” of snow on the ground and it's 14 degrees. It'll probably be a week or so before I get to take the top down again. Not much driving of any kind, but the Cascada is still running great with right at 20,000 miles. It has never been in the shop except for normal maintenance, such as oil (filter is a booger to change) and cabin air filter. I enjoy doing what maintenance I can and I'm looking forward to Spring and dropping the top.

Update: I’ve now owned the car for two years and I still love it just as much as the day I picked it up. My lease ends in 11 months and I have had no issues to speak of at this time. It’s a wonderful and beautiful car. Another update: I've now owned the car for just over a year and I still love it. Recently, I bought the car in Graystone Metallic with beige/black interior. The car is extremely attractive, and I can't overstate this. Aside from how it looks inside and out, I love the way it drives. The handling is very impressive as it seems to hug the road tightly. The seats are phenomenally comfortable and well bolstered. I find the controls are in easy reach. The car is so quiet I can't hear it running. The acceleration is smooth and energetic. The sound system is great and the built-in wifi is a very nice feature. Honestly, I couldn't be happier with the car.

This car is really solid and handles very well, making it a great choice for those who enjoy a smooth ride. While it may not be a high-performance car like a Mustang or Camaro, the 4-cylinder turbo still moves you down the road with ease. I appreciate that all the controls are easily accessible and that it has a key to start, which is a nice throwback to classic cars. People everywhere I go are very positive about the car's looks, which is sure to bring in lots of traffic to the dealership. It's a fun car to drive, and that's what it's all about. On hot days, the A/C works really well and keeps you comfortable. I've driven 33,000 miles trouble-free and it's still a dream to drive. Once the temperature hits 65 degrees, it's top down and out for a ride. Overall, this car is a great choice for anyone looking for a fun and reliable ride.

Buick was unable to fix the computer/electrical problems on my 2017 Buick Cascada, but they kindly provided me with a new 2018 Buick Cascada at no additional cost. I am extremely happy and satisfied with the new vehicle, which has not presented any of the issues I encountered with the 2017 model. Although I would have appreciated automatic braking and blind spot detection, the car is still wonderful and my lovely grandchildren adore it. Living in Southern California, I get to enjoy the beautiful top-down weather and take many scenic drives with my family. The Cascada has been a great car with no mechanical problems. I am disappointed that Buick discontinued the Cascada, as I was planning to purchase another one soon.

The 2016 Cascada has unfortunately experienced some issues with its convertible top, resulting in multiple visits to the dealership for repairs. Despite initial resistance from the first dealership, the issue was eventually diagnosed and resolved by a more attentive technician at a different dealership. However, the problem has persisted and required further adjustments and replacements. The service team has unfortunately caused some damage during the repairs. Rest assured, we are committed to resolving these issues and ensuring that our customers have a positive experience with our vehicles.Although the service team was polite and helpful, I did not purchase the vehicle to have it in service more than I am able to drive it. I am confident in my decision to regret the whole purchase at this point. UPDATE: 12/14/2016 GM and I reached an agreement that included a buy-back of the Cascada.

1. The ride may feel a bit stiff and bumpy, but that's to be expected from a convertible. 2. Unfortunately, the top got stuck in the open position on a cloudy day when rain was coming, but a simple spring oiling should fix the issue. 3. Please note that GM authorized wipers are required for optimal performance, as after-market wipers may not work properly. Also, the left wipers may get stuck in the up position, which is not clearly stated in the owner's manual. 4. While the navigation system may have some issues, the dealer is working hard to fix it by downloading new software. Sometimes it may direct you to turn on roads that do not exist, or ask you to prepare to turn left on double and triple lane highways before suddenly asking you to turn right in 100 feet. Additionally, the route to a location may vary after the last software download, but the system is still able to accept addresses as before.

The top of my Buick Cascada has come loose and has been in the shop for three weeks without any clear explanation for the issue. Despite being marketed as an evolutionary top, it has failed to meet my expectations. Additionally, there are spots in the paint that resemble water spots and cannot be removed. As a customer, I am extremely disappointed with my purchase and regret trading in my Cadillac for this vehicle. It has only been a year since I bought it and it has only 5,000 miles on it. I expect a prompt and satisfactory resolution to these issues.

This car is great for someone like me, a baby boomer who wants a comfortable and safe convertible cruiser. However, after driving it, I think it could benefit from a few additions. Even if they are stand-alone options, blind spot/cross traffic monitoring and automatic emergency braking should be added to its forward collision warning. I would gladly pay 2 to 3 thousand more for these options. The Verano already has part of this. I will be replacing my Mustang convertible with another one, loaded with all the latest tech (including adaptive cruise control). If more is added to the Mustang or even the Cascada (I don't need a fast sports car) in the next two or three years, I will trade. Smart folks my age want driver assist tech because, as Clint Eastwood put it so well, 'A man's got to know his limitations.' A tech-assisted comfortable cruiser is in order. Maybe they could even bring back the Toyota Camry Solara Convertible? That puppy had a REAL back seat.
