Ford Bronco sport problems
The Ford Bronco Sport is a compact crossover SUV sold by Ford Motor Company and marketed under the Ford Bronco nameplate. It was released alongside the sixth generation Bronco body-on-frame SUV, featuring a similar retro and off-road styling in a smaller footprint. The vehicle is based on the front-wheel drive-based, unibody C2 platform, which is also used by the Ford Escape crossover and Maverick pickup.
Powertrain
Engine
The Bronco Sport has two engine options. The base engine is a turbocharged 1.5-liter Ecoboost I3 engine producing 181 hp (184 PS; 135 kW) at 6,000 rpm, and 190 lb⋅ft (260 N⋅m; 26 kg⋅m) of torque at 3,000 rpm. It is also available with a turbocharged 2.0-liter Ecoboost I4 engine producing 245 hp (248 PS; 183 kW) at 6,000 rpm, and 275 lb⋅ft (373 N⋅m; 38.0 kg⋅m) of torque at 3,000 rpm. Both engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
4x4 drive system
The Bronco Sport comes equipped with an all-wheel drive system with "G.O.A.T. Modes" (Goes Over Any Terrain). The G.O.A.T. modes allow the driver to select different terrains for the 4x4 system. The Bronco Sport has four-wheel independent suspension. Only the Badlands model has a twin-clutch rear differential that can act as a rear differential locker based on the GK drive system used in the Focus RS, and has torque vectoring. Unlike the Bronco, the Bronco Sport does not have a low-range transfer case. Instead of having traditional front bump stops, the Badlands model Bronco Sport has hydraulic bump stops. The Base, Big Bend, and Outer Banks models share the same AWD system as the Escape, with proprietary programming for off-road use. The Bronco Sport has the tow capability of 2,000–2,200 lb (907–998 kg) depending on the engine.

Common Ford Bronco sport problems

- Date Complaint: 2024-10-15
- VIN: 3FMCR9B67MR
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: Leff than 6 months after purchasing this vehicle new I have had a problem when I'm turning right or left with a rubbing/grinding noise in the rear. I have complained about it to the dealership where I was getting my oil changed and they brushed it off saying they don't hear it or it could just be the wind lol. I ended up taking it to another dealership in 2023 (Oxmoor Ford) where they heard it and diagnosed it as my rear differential and after they had my car for 3+ weeks I was told there wasn't a fix and they would just change out the fluid and replace it with new fluid and would let me know when there was a fix. In October 2024 I call and ask about this fix because I never heard anything else from them and they have me bring it in just to reset the modules. Still no fix on rear differential with so many complaints about it from several Bronco owners.

- Date Complaint: 2024-10-14
- VIN: 3FMCR9B64MR
- Components: POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: My car was stopped at a red light and when I hit the gas to go my entire car shut off. I was not able to turn my hazards on or put my car in neutral to push my car out of traffic. This is a huge safety concern because a car could’ve rear ended me since I wasn’t able to put hazards on. I attempted to jumpstart the vehicle but that didn’t work. I had to get my car towed and sent to the dealership. The issue sounds like the recall notice 24S24 - however my bronco sport says I don’t have any recalls. After talking to other bronco sport owners who had similar issues, they said they had to pay several hundred dollars to replace the battery with an AGM battery because the bronco sport isn't equipped to handle all the electronics.

- Summary: I’ve had my 2022 ford bronco sport for about 2 1/2 years I ordered it brand new and it made 8 miles on it when I drove it off the lot. Within the past month it’s completely blacked out my radio display while I was driving and wouldn’t come back on until it was turned off and turned back on. Now when I start it it’s acting like the battery is going out. I wouldn’t expect a battery to go out under 3 years. Please please can you help me with these issues.
Ford Bronco sport 2023
- Date Of Incident: 2024-05-12
- Date Complaint: 2024-10-12
- VIN: 3FMCR9C61PR
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: I have been trying to get my car serviced due to a "recall" that can only be done off island. This requires barge cost (to Maui and back), being present to pick up car from barge and drop off at dealership, time on Maui to allow dealership to remedy the recall, wait at least a week for the barge to return it back to Molokai, and then time to pick up vehicle at the barge once back on Molokai. I have tried to organize with my dealership that is on Maui, and they will not pay for anything but the actual "recall work". My vehicle is a little over a year with only 7800 miles on it. The expense of all of the above and the time needed without a vehicle is not something I can afford (Barge alone is approximately $1500). After several communications with Ford, they told me I had to deal with my nearest dealership, and if still having difficulty getting repairs done at no cost to contact NHTSA.gov. Thank you for any information and help you can provide me.

I hope you're doing well! I noticed that you have a '22 Bronco Sport Badlands with 49,000 miles on it. That's impressive! I'm glad to hear that you just got back from a 3-week road trip and were able to achieve 25.1 mpg. That's fantastic! It's great to hear that you've been keeping up with the required maintenance, including oil changes, tire rotations, and full checkups. Your Bronco Sport sounds amazing with all the features it has, including a sunroof, trailer hitch, and 360+. Keep up the good work!

I got my 2023 Bronco Sport Big Bend in May 2023 and I absolutely love it! Every time I pass it in my garage, I can't help but give it a little pat. The cactus grey color is so unique and draws a lot of compliments from complete strangers. I even purchased and installed the body side molding to make it even more special. I was a little concerned about the window sticker mileage of 25 city and 28 highway, but after driving it for over 5,000 miles, I have been getting no less than 33 MPG and a high of 37.8, with an average of 35 on 87 octane fuel. I have taken photos of the dash to prove it to those who are interested. I have read other reviews and nobody else seems to have gotten this kind of mileage, so I feel really lucky. I haven't driven it in cold winter conditions yet, but I live in Northern Indiana and drive county roads, state roads, and 4 lane highways. Not much city driving, I drive it much like my wife's fusion hybrid. I can say that it likes 58 miles per hour a lot. When driving state highways and the cruise set at 58 is when the 37+ mpg happens. Last weekend we drove it on a trip to the south Detroit area for a wedding driving 629 miles on 4 lanes and 65-70 miles per hour at 35.5 mpg. I have a picture of that one. It has a little stiffer ride than the Rogue I replaced for a trip like that, but that just adds to the appeal for me. It weighs more and does not get blown around like the Rogue. It tows almost 3 times more and the 1.5 turbo feels more powerful. I have no answer as to why this one is getting that mileage and other reviews do not. I am afraid to take it for service for fear they may screw it up. All I know, so far, is that I could not be happier with a vehicle. After review, I may have put this review in the wrong place. My Bronco Big Bend is a 2023 purchased in May of 2023. Update: I now have over 10,000 miles on the Bronco and it still averages 33-34 MPG. I still could not be happier with a vehicle. I have driven it on snow and ice-covered roads and the G.O.A.T.Mode for icy roads works great.

I absolutely love driving my Bronco Sport! I've owned it for 8 months and have already driven over 7,000 miles. I was initially concerned about the 1.5 engine, but it has exceeded my expectations with its easy highway ramp acceleration and passing on two-lane highways. The handling is also fantastic, with flat cornering and a tight turn radius. The view out of the windshield is superb, and the headlights are the best I've ever had for visibility on dark country roads and in bad weather. The cargo area easily handled my load of bagged mulch this summer, and even the large box that my new power washer came in. While the lack of foot room in the back seats may be a drawback for some, it's not a huge problem for me personally since I rarely have passengers. I'm happy to report that there are zero squeaks or rattles, although there is some wind noise at higher speeds and during heavy rain. Overall, I highly recommend the Bronco Sport to anyone looking for a reliable and versatile vehicle!

I have been waiting for Ford to address the issues my husband and I experienced during a major wreck in October 2022. Unfortunately, they have not yet taken any action. We encountered problems with air bags not deploying, the steering wheel coming off and falling into our laps (without an air bag), which caused my husband to suffer a broken and fractured arm. Additionally, the headrests had popped off, resulting in bulging disks, and my husband had a laceration from the visor popping off and slicing his head open. Despite all of this, we are grateful to be alive and able to share our story. I am concerned about the safety of other Bronco Sport drivers, as there have been no recalls for these issues.

I hope you're doing well! I wanted to share my experience with the Bronco. I purchased it in a pinch when I was stranded away from home and couldn't get a rental car. Although it was cute, I found it uncomfortable to drive and it didn't perform as well as I had hoped. However, my 11-year-old daughter loved it and thought it was the best car ever! I think it would be a great fit for a young college or teenage girl. The sound system was really impressive, and I loved the display screen when I opened the door. Ultimately, I ended up trading it in for a 2023 Palisade, which was a better fit for me. Thank you for letting me share my experience with you!

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to let you know that the vehicle you're referring to might not be suitable for off-road driving, despite what you may have seen on TV. It seems like you've had some trouble with the shields on the underside of the car, which unfortunately resulted in some costly repairs. It's worth noting that the shields are made out of felt, not steel, so they may not hold up well to rough terrain. Just a friendly heads up - it's always better to err on the side of caution and avoid taking it off-road to prevent any further damage. Take care!

I purchased my Bronco Sport a year ago and unfortunately, I have had to take it to the shop 10 times for the same issue, not to mention other problems it has had. The digital screen intermittently doesn't work and despite the shop replacing the instrument cluster twice, the gateway module, and wiring harness, the issue persists. I have started a claim with Ford for the buyback process. In addition to this, the window seals failed and it rained inside the car, the doors won't unlock unless you use the key and have to reboot the system to fix it, front mud flaps fell off, and carpet started peeling. The check engine light also comes on for catalytic converter, but Ford has assured me that it's fine and just needs to be driven longer to work it in. I have mixed feelings about my Bronco, as I love it but am frustrated with the amount of time it has spent in the shop.

We have had our Outerbanks since January and started experiencing brake noise before reaching 1000 miles. Despite being given multiple excuses, we have not received a satisfactory solution. While the vehicle may operate fine, the noise is embarrassing, especially when reversing. It is concerning that Ford has not taken responsibility for this issue. If they cannot address a minor problem, it raises questions about their ability to handle major issues. As a result, this will be the last Ford vehicle I purchase.
