I am having to pay $800. This is a well-known and documented ongoing Nationwide safety issue. Dodge employees have received the attached bulletin making them aware of this known issue but has failed to initiate a recall. According to their attached safety recall report for previous Dodge years, The Ignition Node (WIN) Module on your vehicle may have unintentional movement of the Frequency Operated Button Ignition Key (FOBIK) from the “ON” to the “Accessory” position while driving. This could cause unintended engine shut off and increase the risk of a crash.

I have had this problem in the past and told dealer but they always say they have no codes and on test drive cant confirm the issue. The first time it happened was around the 50 000 mile mark I thought nothing of it back then as I restarted the car it went away. Over the years it go worst to the point that it would happen at least once or multiple times during my daily commute it I told the dealership about it but no codes and they said on a test run no problems. I stopped driving the car in 2019 because it was too dangerous to drive daily especially in traffic due to the car unable to shift gears left me stranded in the middle of the freeway many times waiting to restart car and car would behave normal until the transmission light comes on where i have to power off durango and restart where ever it happens freeway stop signs lights or where ever it decides to happen. I want to get this car running again but dont have the money to fix an issue that i had when it was still covered by the extended warranty and now i have to pay out of pocket because im over the milage so this car has been sitting and i feel as i been ripped off because of al the issues. Im end up dying in this thing if i take it out. Ive donr the recalls and now i see another recall for the same issue that they said they fixed is been reissued im certain all of the issues is tied to the computer unit it i already had one replaced in this car because when i took it for the alternator issue when the car just died with no warning they told me it was fried. All the recall issues that have been mandated are all the issues i had car stalling not starting battery dead and drained fuel relay power module no power how is this not a lemon. this car is a saftey issue on so many levels. Im now trying to get this car running and im still having the same issues i have 129000 miles on it now

Heavy smoke was coming from under the hood and when I raised the hood heavy smoke was coming up out of the alternator and I could smell burning wires. I had it towed to Elder Dodge and they confirmed that the alternator was burnt out and it fried the PCM and other electrical components. The safety issue was it could've caught the whole engine on fire and it could have caused a wreck with traffic behind us. I contacted the FCA and sent all information that they requested for reimbursement but they refuse to reimburse me for a faulty alternator that short circuited and caught on fire. I am contacting you for help with this matter so they will reimburse me for damages done to my Durango.

- Summary: With the initial incident with us as we were pulling into a roundabout & braking & turning to the left at some point and turning back to the right the engine stalls. All electrical was still working except for the engine and I smelled an odor of burning wire Seemingly coming from the center of the steering wheel. Shift into neutral hit the ignition and it restarts and everything‘s fine. After a couple times of this happening sporadically, we were notified there was a recall notice seemingly for this problem, but there was a wait while for the recall parts for the solution. With the subsequent occurrences there was no electrical smell, there’s no problem restarting it and there is no problem with any other electrical. Problem occurs with various levels of fuel. We had the recall work performed, and yet the problem still occurs, again, sporadically which makes it difficult to diagnose. The Dodge dealer service dept here, in Billings Montana, cannot seem to reproduce the problem. There are no error codes produced when it happens. It is becoming extremely dangerous. I wonder if anyone else has experienced that faint electrical smell like the first time coming possibly from the steering wheel. I think the recall was related to the fuel pump relay, but I think our problem has something to do with the wiring in the steering column. As I said, intermittently, the engine stalls upon braking with a slight turn to the left & then back to the right. It probably happens roughly once every three or four months and almost always any more pulling into a roundabout. Only once has it occurred other than entering a roundabout.

- Summary: Durango was T-boned on driver's side. Durango was turning left into a parking lot from a county road. Tahoe was going 50-55+mph in the same lane and direction as Durango. Durango put on left turn signal, slowed down to ~10mph, and turned left towards parking lot. At the same time, Tahoe sped up behind Durango, Tahoe tried to pass Durango on the left. Tahoe collided with left side of Durango, pushing it 30+ feet into the ditch. Tahoe drivers airbag deployed. No airbags deployed in the Durango. The Driver of the Durango smashed head/face into door column, causing concussion, whiplash, contusion to forehead/eyebrow requiring 8 stitches.

- Summary: There was a whirring noise associated with engine rpm. It appeared to be something driven by the serpentine belt. Within a few miles the battery charge light came on. I figured the noise was then the alternator. I stopped at a parts store to order one and when I came back out, smoke was billowing out of the hood. I opened the hood and it was coming from the alternator. It wasn't slowing down. I asked for some tools from the parts store to unhook the battery and then the smoke started subsiding. It appeared the alternator created a short and the battery was feeding the potential for fire. This all happen in the course of 4 miles. The day before I had parked this vehicle in a parking garage below a college building for a sporting event. This could have caught fire and potentially caused a lot of damage to other vehicles and building. I don't think I would have heard the issue at highway speeds either, and eventually the short caused the entire electrical system to fail (hooked battery up to put car in neutral to load onto tow truck). I currently have the alternator and ordered a replacement (with a core charge). The back of the alternator has some metal that had melted along with the back plastic housing. The bearings seem smooth. I noticed another recall with same vehicle and alternator but with electric hydraulic power steering with the alternator shorting to ground, but my vin is not affected by that.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 8 recalls for different components of the 2011 Dodge Durango.
- Manufacturer: Chrysler (FCA US LLC)

- Summary: Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2011-2013 Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles equipped with a 3.6, 5.7, or 6.4 liter engine and previously recalled under NHTSA Recall 14V530 or 15V115. The fuel pump relay inside the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM-7) may fail, causing the vehicle to stall without warning.
- Consequence: A vehicle stall increases the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Chrysler (FCA US LLC) will replace the affected fuel pump relay and related wire harness. Interim notices informing owners of the safety risk were mailed beginning December 19, 2019. Vehicles that experience a fuel pump failure will receive an interim repair. Owners will receive a second notice when the final remedy becomes available. Owner notification letters were mailed on December 10, 2020. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is V62.

- Consequence: If the brake booster shield was not installed properly, the vehicle's braking ability may be reduced, increasing the risk of a crash.

The affected vehicles have electro-hydraulic power steering (EHPS) and are equipped with a 5.7L or a 3.6L engine and a 160, 180 or 220 amp alternator. In the affected vehicles, the alternator may suddenly fail.
- Consequence: If the alternator fails, the vehicle may stall without warning, increasing the risk of a crash. There is also the possibility that the alternator may short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire.
- Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the alternator and depending on the part number, will replace the alternator, if necessary, free of charge. In the affected vehicles, the wiring for the vanity lamp in the sun visor may short circuit, after having been remedied for a prior recall for the vanity lamp wiring. This recall is also addressing certain vehicles that have not been remedied under that prior recall.
- Consequence: The vanity lamp wiring may short, increasing the risk of a vehicle fire.
- Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealer will install clearance for sun visor wiring, protection from sharp edges, and replace the sun visor, free of charge. The recall began on July 28, 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is R71.

The subject vehicles have a brake booster with a center shell that may corrode and allow water to get inside.
- Consequence: The water inside could freeze and limit the braking ability of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will add a water diverter shield to the booster after the booster has been tested to confirm it can hold an acceptable amount of vacuum pressure. If the booster inspection confirms an unacceptable loss of vacuum pressure, the booster will be replaced. Repairs will be made free of charge. The recall began on May 30, 2014. This is my third Durango (1999, 2004), and I have to say that the 2011 model is by far the best. I've had it for 3 years now and just turned 100,000 miles with no issues, except for a repair on the water pump. It's a great SUV overall, with a V8 engine and luxurious features that make it feel like a citadel.

Bought this yesterday in Charlestown, SC. Drove it up HWY 17 to Myrtle Beach and averaged 26.3 mpg. That's 3 mpg better than the 4 cylinder Highlander that I just sold. It looks better and rides better. You should definitely go drive one, I think you'll really like it!

I'm so glad I chose Chrysler & Dodge for my recent purchase! Their 4X4 is truly the best out there, whether you're cruising on the boulevard or taking the back roads. As a former Cadillac Escalade owner, I was thrilled to save over 20 grand for an even better SUV. I was considering a Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland, but decided to wait for the Durango to gain extra seating capacity & cargo room. I elected the 5.7 liter Hemi V8 w/ AWD edition in Citadel trim and it's loaded with creature comforts as standard, with few options at extremely reasonable prices. I'm happy to report that there are absolutely no unsightly panel gaps. In my opinion, the new '11 is superior to everything in its class. I'm pleased to have ordered my Durango with every option & all available packages - something that's not possible with a Range Rover, Cadillac or Lincoln.

After 9 months of owning my Durango, I experienced issues with starting the vehicle even after replacing the alternator, starter, and relays. Despite returning to the car lot, they were unable to exchange the vehicle. However, I am confident in my ability to find a solution to this problem.

We recently purchased a car, but unfortunately, it had to be towed within 48 hours. When we contacted the dealership, they were not very helpful and did not offer any assistance. Additionally, we did not receive our tag and had to follow up with the salesman multiple times. The car was also not in the best condition when we arrived, despite the dealership knowing we were coming. The cabin filter was full of cotton and there were other cosmetic issues that were not disclosed to us beforehand. Overall, the service we received was not up to par. Please be aware of these issues if you are considering purchasing a car from this dealership.

If you're considering purchasing a 2011 Dodge Durango with a 5.7 hemi, I would advise against it. Unfortunately, my personal experience with this vehicle has been quite negative. The car feels like it's miss-firing, which has led me to trade it in for another vehicle with only 6000 miles. Despite reaching out to both the dealership and Dodge customer service, I was left feeling abandoned as they cited the condition I'm feeling as a characteristic of the vehicle by design for fuel efficiency. This has been a frustrating experience, and I will likely not be returning to a Dodge dealership in the future.

I bought this car brand new and after 2 years and 36k miles, I have some feedback to share. On the positive side, the car has a nice design both inside and out. It looks amazing when it's clean and the V8 Hemi engine is smooth and powerful, making it great for towing. Additionally, the car has a 3rd row seating that is actually useable. However, on the negative side, I have noticed some issues with the exterior build quality. The front bumper pops out and is now cracking like it's going to fall off, while the exterior mirror housing is frayed and has already been replaced, only to have the same problem return. The tail lights feel loose and move when touched, and the driver's door is not aligned with the rest of the body. I have also experienced a failed start once, which apparently is a known issue with Dodges and their failing TIPMs (Google it for more info). Lastly, the Hemi spark plugs have to be changed every 30k miles and recommended gas is 89. Despite these issues, I still enjoy driving this car and would recommend it to others.

I recently purchased a 2011 Durango Express AWD, but unfortunately, I have been experiencing some issues with the steering. From the very beginning, the steering felt loose and pulled to the left. I took it to the dealer where I purchased it, but they assured me that everything was fine. However, I decided to get a second opinion and brought it to another Dodge dealer. They discovered that the car may have been used for parts to fix another vehicle and the parts weren't replaced correctly, causing the alignment to be off by 5 degrees. Despite their efforts, the car still has loose steering and now pulls to the right. Additionally, when going over small bumps, the steering wheel jerks to the right. Unfortunately, even after three visits to the second dealer, they still insist that this is how the car drives. They have rotated the tires, double-checked the alignment, and balanced the tires, but the problem persists.
