Vehicle year: 2008
As a fellow lover of the 1998 Neon R/T, I was excited to find a potential replacement. The black AWD version caught my eye on the lot and, despite the auto transmission, I drove it off the lot a few hours later. While the car has been reliable, comfortable, and has decent gas mileage, I must admit that it doesn't quite meet my expectations. It feels a bit tippy on tight corners and the CVT is not my favorite feature. It feels like the transmission is slipping and the response is slow. In hindsight, I should have tested it on snow and tried the autostick before making a purchase. With smaller or different wheels and a manual transmission, I might be able to enjoy it more.

Hi there! I've been driving my 2007 Dodge Caliber RT for 4 years now and it has been a really dependable vehicle. I absolutely love the style and the way it rides. However, I have recently started to run into some issues as I approach 99400 miles. I have had to replace the throttle body, ball joint, front and back struts, springs/coils, and exhaust cap. Other than that, I have only had to do regular maintenance. I will say though, I don't particularly enjoy driving it in the winter. It just doesn't seem to perform as well as I would like.

I purchased my Caliber in December 2011 with only 63 miles on it. I absolutely adore the orange color and the way it resembles a transformer. The dashboard is also very well-designed. For what it is, this car is fantastic. I live in Colorado and have taken it up Jeep trails without any issues. As long as I have the clearance, I have had no trouble. The manual transmission is really nice and makes driving it a lot of fun. It handles decently in the snow and is comfortable on long trips, even though I have the most basic model. This is a fun little car, but it is not a high-performance sports car. However, it is still fun to drive and has been completely reliable. Edmunds asked me to update this review, and I am happy to say that since I drove it out of the showroom in 2011, I have only ever done routine maintenance on it. I have driven it from Colorado to New England and all over New England, and it handles snow, crappy roads, and everything else like a pro. I still love this car. My only complaint is that it is not comfortable for my very tall (6' 3

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with this car. I've had it since it was brand new and it's been amazing! I've driven it for 66000 miles and it hasn't needed any repairs at all. The ride is comfortable and smooth, and it gets great mileage. I typically get around 30-31 mpg, which is fantastic. The only thing to keep in mind is that it has a smaller engine (2.0L), so it works a bit harder to maintain higher speeds. But as long as you keep up with the maintenance, it'll last you a long time. The cabin is a bit small, but I've managed to fit two toddler car seats in the back seat. The cargo space can be a bit limited, especially if you have a big stroller, but it definitely gets the job done! Let me know if you have any questions.

After owning a Ford 2005 Mustang for 13 months, I decided to switch back to a Dodge. I had previously owned a 2000 Intrepid for five years and never had any issues with it. Although the Mustang was a great car, my girls were not comfortable in a 2-door car, and the gas prices skyrocketed right after I bought it. I was paying $120 to $160 in gas per month. My girls and I love the Caliber because it has four doors, looks good, is better on gas (even buying premium gas, only $100 per month at the max), easier to see out of, and I used it to take my older daughter to college without having to rent an SUV. It has so much more room than the Ford (which is great for a single person), and is enjoyable to drive.

The transmission of my car has stopped working after only six months of use. It is disappointing to learn that Chrysler has had issues with these transmissions and has not taken responsibility for providing a quality product. Furthermore, Chrysler has not yet released the tools necessary to rebuild the transmission. Due to these issues, I have decided to replace the car. Additionally, the car is not comfortable to drive and causes discomfort in my back. It may be suitable as a basic commuting vehicle, but I would not recommend it if you are looking for a comfortable ride.

At only 56,000 miles, my 2008 Dodge Caliber required a new transmission. Despite contacting Chrysler, they were unresponsive to my issue. The mechanic confirmed that this type of repair should not be occurring at such low mileage.

I created an account specifically to share my experience. Unfortunately, I have had to replace several parts such as the alternator, brakes, struts, cruise control, and two pairs of tires over the six years that I have owned this vehicle. It was only recently that I managed to pay it off. I am disappointed with the car and it seems that many others share my frustration. Perhaps a recall is necessary. I previously owned a Ford and did not encounter nearly as many issues. Additionally, the back bumper has scratches and it can be expensive to repair. When the back windows are open, the noise can be quite loud. I would recommend considering other options to save yourself money.

The Dodge Caliber is a great car with an affordable price tag. Its performance is based on the maintenance of the CVT, so it's important to have it cleaned every 15,000 miles to ensure a smooth ride. While a turbo version with the 4 cylinder would be a nice addition, it's understandable that the cost of the vehicle may reflect the turbo enhancement. The car handles well in the snow, despite not having an all-wheel or 4-wheel option, thanks to its 17

The Dodge Caliber Heat is a great car with excellent handling and fantastic brakes. Although it lacks power, it is comfortable to ride and has a nice suspension. Despite some wind noise, the car is still a great choice. The dealer has had to reattach shielding inside both front wheel wells three times so far, but it is still loose. In terms of mileage, my CVT transmission and 2.0 motor are not performing as well as I had hoped. Despite driving mostly on the highway, my Dodge Caliber Heat is only averaging 21 MPG. However, I am confident that with some adjustments, this car can perform even better.
