I've been the proud owner of this car for about three years now and so far, it has not given me any problems. However, being a daily commuter and standing at 6 feet tall, I expected more legroom in this small car. The road noise can be a bit much, but I found that installing Michelin Defenders helped reduce it to an acceptable level. The rear hatch is modest in size, so you may need to get creative with your grocery placement if you plan on doing a full day's shopping with the rear seats up. On the bright side, I love the 120-volt outlet in the middle console for utility purposes. I upgraded to 225mm Michelin width tires all around the car and it now handles like a dream, especially in rain and snow. Although the mileage took a hit, it was worth the trade-off for me. My only complaint about this vehicle is that the mileage is somewhat unacceptable for its size and weight. However, I have had no other problems with it so far. It's worth noting that the car's mileage is affected by the heat of the outdoors, and it gets much better mileage when it's cold. *Update 3 years from review above: I average 29mpg on summer blend gas with the tire pressure running 34psi around all tires. I notice on winter blend the gas mileage goes back to 26.5->27i'sh for some reason. I also had a temporary issue with the throttle body indicator light coming on the instrument panel and running rough after changing the battery. This was resolved after I removed the battery again (terminals) and let the capacitors empty out and the EPROM reset while pressing the gas pedal to the floor all the way up and down to teach the computer the limits of the throttle. This solved the rough idle issue and made the warning light go out...after reconnecting the battery.I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to share some tips on how to keep your car running smoothly. I've found that keeping the tire pressure at around 35psi and keeping the RPM below 3500 can help the car average almost 30 miles per gallon. I've been driving my car for a while now and it's been going strong without any issues. In fact, it has 68976 miles on it and it's still running great! I'm considering getting a Dodge Avenger with the same 2.0 liter motor because it has proven to be so dependable. The Caliber has the same motor as the 2003 Dodge Neon I had, which never gave me any problems either. By the way, I recently installed new NKG spark plugs with fancy tips on them and the Caliber runs MUCH better now. It's equipped with a 2.0L steel timing chain motor, which makes it even more dependable. Thanks for reading!

I certainly can't complain. It sounds like your wife has taken great care of this car! With over 200,000 miles on it, it's impressive that you've only had to replace a few parts and buy a new set of tires. It's clear that you've been diligent with maintenance, changing the oil and filter regularly with Mobile 1 extended performance. Overall, it seems like you have a very reliable and versatile car.

After adding these 22-inch rims, I feel like I've blown away the competition in terms of fashion. The black on chrome look is just amazing. If I were to be on a show like 'Too Fast and Furious', I would definitely have a Mustang in my driveway with a turbo or something. As someone who is wheelchair-bound, I really appreciate the 60/40 folding seats for my wheelchair. There's plenty of room, just like in my minivan, but with tons more fun!

I must say, your car is performing really well! In just two weeks, you're already getting 33MPG, which is impressive. The ride is comfortable, and although bumps on the road can be felt, it's not too bad. The car is also pretty quiet, which is a plus. The GPS/MyGig unit is fantastic, and downloading music is a breeze. The steering wheel controls are also very convenient, and the UConnect bluetooth is simply amazing! The car looks great from all angles, and the wheels are a nice touch. The speakers are pretty loud and don't distort, which is great. The car handles corners well, and the headlights are nice and bright. The engine is also very quiet, which is a plus. The Nav system works great, especially with the real-time traffic info.

I owned the vehicle for three years and during that time, I had to replace several parts including temperature sensors, struts, and the oil dipstick. Unfortunately, the transmission oil was quite expensive and only the dealership was willing to work on it. The acceleration was poor and driving the car was quite boring. Although I tried to maintain a positive attitude about the car, I now realize how mistaken I was in choosing it. After switching to a Honda, I can see how much better it is. Based on my experience with this car, I have decided to avoid Dodge and other American car brands. Additionally, the gas consumption was quite high for a 2.0 engine, which was disappointing.

Hello! I recently rented a car on a trip and chose a small hatchback because I love them. At home, I drive a 2008 VW Rabbit. My college-age son, who isn't really into cars, immediately noticed that the interior quality was not as good as our Rabbit's. He asked if it was an American car, but I doubt he would say that about a newer Ford. While driving this car, I didn't find it as pleasurable as driving German cars. It's adequately powered, but the steering is not very responsive. However, the car does get points for its exterior styling, and I assume it's fairly reliable. If you're looking for a small hatch, I would recommend checking out the Mazda3, new Golfs, Honda Fit, etc. before considering this one. Thank you for reading!

Hi there! I just wanted to share my experience with my 2007 Caliber that I bought back in March of 2006. It was one of the first ones in my area and I was a bit worried at first because I had the stalling problem (which I'm sure some Caliber owners can relate to) and I also lost the alternator at around 50k miles, which was quite an expensive repair. However, despite these initial setbacks, I still own the car and it has now clocked over 256,000 miles! I did have to replace the alternator again, as well as the tie rods (the roads where I live in NE Ohio are pretty rough) and one wheel bearing over the last six years. But, on the plus side, I get an impressive 32 mpg on the highway with my 1.8 stick shift. Interestingly, the stalling issue just disappeared (did the computer self-adjust?). And, to top it all off, the car still has its original exhaust system! So, after two alternators, tie rods, a battery, and 256k miles, I can honestly say that this car owes me nothing. Thanks for listening!

I really enjoy driving this car. The car has a great look and feel, and it responds really well. However, I did have a couple of expensive repairs early on in the car's life. Unfortunately, I had to replace the entire instrument cluster at 54,000 miles due to a bad illumination system, which cost $500. Additionally, at 64,000 miles, the k-frame was found to be rusted through, which made the car unsafe to drive. The cost to repair this was $1,400. Although there are 27 complaints on NHTSA for this same issue, Dodge did not offer any assistance. While I understand that car parts will wear out over time, these two repairs were not typical.

The issue causing the shut off while driving on the highway is related to a cooling sensor that prevents the transmission from overheating. It is surprising that this problem was not addressed as a recall issue, as my niece experienced the same problem.
