The Dodge Caliber is a compact hatchback manufactured and marketed by Chrysler's Dodge division from the 2007 through 2012 model years, replacing the Dodge Neon and Chrysler PT Cruiser.
Following the Caliber concept, which debuted at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show, the pre-production version debuted at the 2006 North American International Auto Show, with a market launch in March 2006.
The Caliber was manufactured at the Belvidere Assembly (Illinois) plant, and across its six-year model run, just over 400,000 were produced.

These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or requiring excessive force to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. After driving a Chevy Venture for 10 years, I was really excited to have something sportier and I have not been disappointed. This car is fun to drive and it looks great. Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with my Cali SXT that I bought back in 2008. Despite some negative reviews, I have to say that I absolutely love this car! As a professional driver, I can confidently say that it handles like a dream. Even in heavy traffic, I can easily weave through 70 or 80 cars without any issues. The car has great acceleration and maintains its maneuverability and traction at speeds of 70 to 72 miles per hour. The cabin is also very comfortable, and the Sirius satellite radio sounds amazing on the speakers. Plus, the doors make a satisfying thump sound when you close them. Overall, I think this car is a great value for the money. Thanks for listening!

I really enjoyed this car for its spaciousness. I was able to fit some odd things in this car with ease. While it's not a car for speed and the mpg is just okay, it's not a gas guzzler compared to my previous car (Chevy Cobalt). The only recurring issue I had with this car was the sway bar coming loose, which can sound really bad if you don't know what it is, and it makes the ride a little bumpy. Other than that, it was really reliable. The car sits up high enough that you don't have to duck down to get in. I had a lot of spontaneous trips and sometimes slept in my car. There's enough space to comfortably sleep two people as long as you have some pads to lay on, and I've even fit three small people in it.

Cash for Clunkers was such a huge help! I was finally able to get rid of my 90 Ford Aerostar just in time. During the first week of owning my new car, I loaded it up and drove my oldest to college. After a year of ownership, I've dealt with a couple of huge snow storms. At one point, I had driven into snow so deep that from the windshield forward was under snow. But, I dug out the front wheels and backed right out! The daily driving is so much fun. I travel back roads to work that have hills and turns, and this little 5-speed with a 1.8l engine sticks to the road and is quite enjoyable. I absolutely love the features, and it is such a great car!

I have had the opportunity to drive the Caliber. While it may not be the best car on the market, it is certainly an improvement from the cars made in the 1980s. However, it may not be the best option for those who enjoy driving. If you are looking for a decent commuter car for highway driving, it could be a good choice, especially if you can get a good deal. If you are interested in other options, my personal favorite affordable hatches are the Hyundai Elantra Touring and the Mazda 3. They are both great cars that you may want to consider.

I had a less than ideal experience with the car I purchased. While driving in the mountains or on the highway for an extended period of time, the transmission tends to overheat, but I have not experienced this issue while driving in the city. The acceleration is not very responsive and requires holding the pedal down for a longer period of time to reach higher speeds. The car can be quite noisy due to the creaky suspension, wind noise, and poor sound insulation. The steering can feel loose, especially at higher speeds, and the car can be bumpy on uneven roads. I did have to replace some parts, such as the subframe and alternator, but fortunately, some of these were covered by a recall. Overall, the car requires more effort to drive than I would prefer.

I wish I had bought a different car. The gas mileage is not as good as I expected, getting only 24-28 mpg instead of the advertised 33 mpg. Unfortunately, I have experienced some issues with the suspension noise, which will require a visit to the shop next week. While the seating is comfortable for me, the interior layout is a bit awkward and everything feels very tight. The exterior styling is decent, but the sheet metal is quite thin. I have noticed that the door feels a bit flimsy when closing it with the window open, and the CVT transmission can make some odd sounds in slow traffic. Overall, I would not recommend this car to others, but I appreciate the comfortable seating and decent exterior styling.

The ownership experience was unfortunately limited to only one hour. Despite ordering the car correctly, Dodge failed to manufacture the car to the expected standard by leaving out one of the three options. This raises concerns about the quality control process. During the initial test drive, the car overheated in less than five miles. After listening to the salesman and manager's attempts to explain the issues, we decided to take our deposit back and leave.
