1995 Dodge Avenger problems
The Dodge Avenger is a front-wheel drive, mid-sized sedan that was marketed by Dodge. The Avenger made its North American debut in 1994 for the 1995 model year as a coupe that was produced until 2000. The model name was reintroduced to the market as a four-door sports sedan starting in 2007 for the 2008 model year. The Dodge Avenger name had earlier been used on South African market Hillman Avengers in 1975 and 1976.
The 2014 model year marked the end of Avenger production as the mid-sized models for both the Dodge and Chrysler brands were consolidated into the new Chrysler 200 introduced for the 2015 model year while Dodge received the new compact Dart.
Nameplate history
The first use of the Dodge Avenger name was on a badge engineered version of the European Hillman Avenger, exclusive to South Africa. The same car was sold in North America as the Plymouth Cricket between 1972 and 1974. In place of the Hillman engines, this version used a Peugeot 1.6 litre engine (as also installed in locally assembled Peugeot 404s) in order to satisfy local content requirements. The Dodge-branded Avenger was introduced in 1975 and was then renamed Chrysler in 1976. This generation has nothing in common with later Dodge Avengers. After Chrysler ZA was merged into Sigma in 1976, the Avenger was soon cancelled to allow Sigma to free up more production capacity for the Mazda 323.

This car has always done well for me despite having many problems. I get 27mpg in city driving, and 34mpg in country or interstate travel. The ability to fold down the back seats was a huge plus for me when hauling dirt, lumber, or craft supplies for a show. I could pack more into this little car than most people could fit in a truck and still make it over the hills. Despite having an oil pump problem that I can't seem to find anyone to fix, the car has 165,980 miles on it and is still going strong. I have never regretted owning this car, it's been the best Dodge car I've ever owned, and even better than my last car, which was a Ford Tempo.

Hey there! I'm glad to hear that you haven't had any issues so far, except for needing a new air filter. Is there anything else I can help you with?
-
I've had my Avenger for several months now, and she hasn't caused me any problems. All I have to do is check my oil and tire pressure, and get a lube job every 3,000 miles. The Avenger has been running great ever since I brought her.

One major issue I experienced during my time with this car was that the PCM had to be replaced, which took a long time to diagnose. Despite this, I have driven 80,000 miles on this vehicle since I purchased it used. Although the previous owner did not take good care of it and even went curb surfing with it, the car has been very reliable and resilient. I am particularly impressed with the excellent performance from the 2.0 litre engine and the economy that shames some other four cylinders. In fact, I achieved a personal best of 37 mpg on a 200 mile trip to Virginia Beach. Overall, I absolutely love this car!

This car is my favourite out of all the cars I've had. Every time I get inside, I feel like I'm in a race car. I've had to put a little money into it, but it's got over 130,000 miles on it, so it's due for some work, nothing major (rear bearing assembly). I plan on adding more performance parts and turning it into a concept show-car.

I bought this car in October and have driven 5000 km since then. Before I talk about the issues I've had with it, I want to mention that I paid only $300 for it and it had been sitting unused for a while. Unfortunately, there were no service records available. Here are the problems I've encountered so far: brake pads and rotors needed replacing due to normal wear and tear, the tires were bald and needed to be replaced, oil changes were necessary, and I had to replace the spark plugs, distributor cap, and rotor, which are all typically replaced every 100,000 km. The wheel hub bearings also needed attention. Despite these issues, the car has been reliable so far, with the exception of a broken door handle (which was very cheap to replace). Parts are generally inexpensive, although the cost of tires is quite high - I had to spend $1200 on snow tires and winter rims.
