The Daewoo Lanos is a compact / sedan car produced by the South Korean manufacturer Daewoo from 1997 to 2002, and thereafter produced under license agreements in various countries worldwide. It has also been marketed as the Daewoo Sens, ZAZ Sens and ZAZ Lanos in Ukraine, Doninvest Assol and ZAZ Chance in Russia, FSO Lanos in Poland, or Chevrolet Lanos in Ukraine, Russia, and Egypt.

It was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro and initially featured three body styles: three-door and five-door hatchbacks and a four-door sedan. The Lanos was designated the T100 model code at launch; the T150 code applies to the updated models introduced in 1999. In 2006, a panel van version, produced in Ukraine by ZAZ, was also introduced. The Daewoo Lanos was designed to replace the Daewoo Nexia in the Daewoo line-up and was itself replaced by the Daewoo Kalos.

Production of the Daewoo Lanos ended in 2020.

What happened to Daewoo Lanos?

The Lanos was finally phased out after the 2002 model year, superseded worldwide by the Daewoo Kalos. Daewoo ceased operations in North America. After GM took over Daewoo to become GMDAT, Chevrolet began importing the Daewoo Kalos, rebadged as the Aveo, to North America beginning with MY 2004.

    I purchased this car brand new for $7995. It came with the comfort package, air conditioning, and power steering. It even included floor mats, making it a great value. Although I hadn't planned on buying this car, the price was too good to pass up. After test driving it, I was sold. This little car has great pickup and can easily maneuver through highway traffic. It's surprisingly comfortable for an economy car and an absolute joy to drive. The power rack and pinion steering provides excellent handling. With its five-speed manual transmission, it feels like a European sports car.

    Hi there! I bought this car with the intention of saving on fuel, but unfortunately, it threw a rod after only 8 months of driving. It's been sitting in my driveway since June of 07 and I've had trouble finding someone to work on it. I've been told that there are no parts available for it anymore. Despite this, I have to say that when it was running, it was a great car. It only broke down at 61,000 miles.

    Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share with you my family's experience with our car. We bought it brand new in September 2001 and it only had 2 miles on it when we got it! We used it to commute 5 days a week from Sussex NJ to Wayne NJ. We did have to rebuild the upper half of the motor around 75k when the timing chain snapped and damaged the motor, but other than that, it's been a great car. The odometer is creeping up on 100k, but the air is still cold, it still drives in a straight line, and we've only had to get 3 alignments in 4 years. Can you believe that the original fuel pump is still pumping? The automatic transaxle still shifts smoothly with nearly 100k. Even my friends love it as much as I do! I just wish more people appreciated this car. It's truly a great car! If they were still available for sale in the US, I would go buy another brand new one. Thanks for listening!

    Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my car. I've had it since it was brand new, buying it right off the showroom floor in October of 2000. It's been a great car, only needing minor maintenance over the 14 years I've owned it. In 2001 and 2002, it needed brakes both times as the factory brakes were defective from the beginning. It needed more brakes in 2009 when a mechanical failure occurred. In 2008, it needed a new battery, but the OEM battery lasted 8 years! In 2013, it needed brake lines and a brake hose, and in 2014, it needed a new thermostat. All in all, this car has been dependable and has lasted most of 14 years on just oil changes. The only problem I've had with it is the fact that the A/C never worked from the get-go.

    Hi there! I just wanted to share with you that I bought a brand new 2001 silver Lanos hatchback for only $6000 dollars! It was such a fun car to drive, even though it only had a cassette tape player while other manufacturers were already putting in DVD players. Can you believe that I put 107,000 miles on it before trading it in? I got $1000 dollars in trade in for it, but I really miss that car. It was so easy to park and always put a smile on my face!

    I'm so glad I purchased this car! I couldn't find any other vehicle that I could pay for with ZERO down and only $238.00 a month for 60 months. I finally found this car and it has almost 25K miles on it. I hope it will last me for another 3 years because I drive across states between DC and CA 2 times a year during the break and school year. Let's see! Also, I haven't had to replace or repair any parts since I bought the vehicle.

    I bought my Woo [used even though new] for around 8,000 bones, equipped with airbags, CD and cassette, and a Stealth alarm system. When I left the lot, it had only 8 miles on the clock. Today, it reads 4604 [I know, I know. That isn't a lot]. So far, I haven't had any problems [except an occasional rattling, probably due to the kind of music I play >:)]. I'm hoping there won't be any issues because it's going to be hard to find service and parts. Driving this little car has been a blast, and my dog loves it too! Weaving in and out of traffic is more fun than ever, and I can't wait to soup this baby up...
