2019 Chevrolet Volt problems
The Chevrolet Volt is a plug-in hybrid car manufactured by General Motors, also marketed in rebadged variants as the Holden Volt in Australia and New Zealand and the Buick Velite 5 in China, and with a different fascia as the Vauxhall Ampera in the United Kingdom and as the Opel Ampera in the remainder of Europe. Volt production ended in February 2019.
Sales of the 2011 Volt began in the United States in mid-December 2010, followed by various European countries and other international markets in 2011. Global combined Volt/Ampera-family sales totaled about 177,000 units by the end of October 2018. The U.S. is the leading market, with 157,054 Volts delivered through the end of 2019, followed by Canada with 16,653 Volts sold through September 2018. Just over 10,000 Opel/Vauxhall Ampera cars had been sold in Europe as of June 2016. Until December 2018, the Volt/Ampera family of vehicles was the world's all-time bestselling plug-in hybrid vehicle. As of December 2019, the Chevrolet Volt is listed as the all-time top-selling plug-in hybrid in the American market.
The Volt operates as a pure battery electric vehicle until its battery capacity drops to a predetermined threshold from full charge. From there, its internal combustion engine powers an electric generator to extend the vehicle's range as needed. While running on gasoline at high speeds the engine may be mechanically linked (by a clutch) to a generator set, improving efficiency by 10% to 15%. The Volt's regenerative braking also contributes to the on-board electricity generation. Under the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) cycle, the 2013–15 model year Volt all-electric range is 38 mi (61 km), with a combined electric mode/gasoline-only rating of 62 mpg‑US (3.8 L/100 km; 74 mpg‑imp) equivalent (MPG equivalent).
The second-generation Volt's improved battery system and drivetrain increased the all-electric range to 53 miles (85 km), its EPA-rated fuel economy in charge-sustaining mode to 42 mpg‑US (5.6 L/100 km; 50 mpg‑imp), and the combined city/highway fuel economy in all-electric mode to 106 MPG-e, up from 98 MPG-e. Deliveries to retail customers in the U.S. and Canada began in October 2015 as a 2016 model year.
The Volt has won several awards, including the 2009 Green Car Vision Award, 2011 Green Car of the Year, 2011 North American Car of the Year, 2011 World Green Car, 2012 European Car of the Year, and 2016 Green Car of the Year.

Common 2019 Chevrolet Volt problems
The 2019 Chevrolet Volt, a plug-in hybrid hatchback sedan, has been reported to have several common problems based on complaints from its owners. While the car offers an impressive all-electric range of 53 miles and is praised for its nimble handling in the city, it faces criticism for its interior material quality, limited rear seat and luggage space, and challenging parking due to the car's nose being hard to see.
One significant issue that has affected many 2019 Chevrolet Volt owners is a battery problem related to the battery energy control module (BECM). The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is investigating approximately 73,000 Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrids from model years 2016 through 2019 due to complaints about the BECM. This problem can cause a sudden loss of power, failure to restart, and other issues, posing safety risks if the vehicle cannot move with surrounding traffic and is unable to restart.
Some Volt owners have reported facing months-long waits for replacement battery modules, with some being unable to obtain the replacement part. This issue has led to concerns about the availability of replacement parts and the inconvenience experienced by affected owners. General Motors, the parent company of Chevrolet, has stated that it has sufficient replacement parts in its supply pipeline but is cooperating with the NHTSA investigation.
In addition to the battery problem, the 2019 Chevrolet Volt has been reported to have issues with its fuel system and emissions. Owners have reported problems with sensors (O₂, or oxygen, sensor), emission-control devices (includes EGR), fuel-injection system, fuel gauge/sender, fuel pump, and problems filling up the tank. These issues can lead to decreased performance and fuel efficiency, as well as potential safety concerns.
Transport Canada is also conducting an in-depth review of the Chevrolet Volt due to several complaints about the performance of the plug-in hybrid vehicles. This review follows the NHTSA's investigation into 73,000 Chevy Volts over reports of abrupt loss of power, failures to restart, and other issues.
In summary, the 2019 Chevrolet Volt faces common problems such as interior material quality, limited rear seat and luggage space, and challenging parking. However, the most significant issues reported by owners are related to the battery energy control module, which can cause a sudden loss of power, failure to restart, and other problems. These battery-related issues have led to investigations by the NHTSA and Transport Canada, as well as concerns about the availability of replacement parts. Additionally, the Volt has experienced problems with its fuel system and emissions, further impacting its overall performance and reliability.

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-05-18
- VIN: 1G1RB6S54KU
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: Two incidents related to the powertrain. 1) In December, 2023, the EV battery was drained and the car would not start based on the gas motor. The dealer fixed it in our recollection. 2) On [XXX], I was driving the car out of a Detroit Convention Center parking lot, going up the ramp when the car, with no warning, completely lost power and stopped. The message on the display said "Powertrain loss" or "Powertrain lost." I wish I had taken a photo of it, but I was panicked. Cars were backed up behind me on the ramp out of the parking garage, honking and having to back up. I tried turning the car off and on, googling the problem, and was about to call a tow truck when after 12-13 minutes, I was able to restart the car. I was scared that this could happen again on the freeway. When we could do it together, my husband and I took the car to Chevrolet Suburban of Ann Arbor, which says that they can find nothing wrong with the car, cannot replicate the problem, and that the car computer does not have any error code. They and GM are not willing to do anything to fix it. If they are really unable to find an error code, then something is wrong with the car computer too. I will not drive that car again until it is fixed - I consider it to be risking my life and others' lives to do so. We are spending a lot of money leasing a replacement vehicle as they will not even give us a loaner. The car is just sitting in their lot. And if we trade it in, will they resell it to someone else, potentially putting their lives at risk? - The vehicle is available for inspection at Chevrolet Suburban Ann Arbor. - My safety was at risk. So was that of other drivers around me. I could have been rear-ended. - The problem has not been reproduced/confirmed. - The vehicle and component have not been inspected by the manufacturer, police etc to our knowledge. - There was NO warning ahead of time and no symptoms prior to the problem. The warning message displayed simultaneously with the problem INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-06-01
- VIN: 1G1RD6S57KU
- Components: POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE
- Summary: Mileage: 38523 Engine Not Available Service Soon Propulsion Power Is Reduced Fuel Range Low: 3/4 Tank full of gas [XXX] - I was driving Northbound on [XXX] South of Castlewood in Northern California. I was driving 70 mph when I suddenly received the error messages above on my dashboard screen. The vehicle immediately had power from 70 mph quickly going below 59 mph. The traffic was extremely high and I had to quickly use my hazard flashes and carefully maneuver to the right shoulder of the frwy. The vehicle lost power so quickly I could have easily been rear ended or in a serious vehicle accident. The dealer test drove the vehicle and stated they received the errors at 95 mph. The dealership is recommending I have the entire transmission replaced with the assembly and the 45,000 mile maintenance. No other warning lamps, messages or symptoms or failures occurred. First occurrence [XXX]. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-12-04
- VIN: 1G1RD6S55KU
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: While driving home one evening, the power steering suddenly failed. A warning message displayed to service the power steering. It became very difficult to steer the car. I had to pull extremely hard on the wheel to be able to make turns. For the turn into my community, I had to make four attempts to get the car to clear the turn through the entrance gate, needing to back up repeatedly and retry. Fortunately I did make it home safely and shut the car down. I made an emergency repair appointment for the next day at a Chevrolet dealership. In the morning the power steering was back. The car was inspected at the dealership. They told me a software update was needed and they charged me $450 to do that.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-11-24
- VIN: 1G1RD6S55KU
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: I am getting "shift to park" error when turning off vehicle. Vehicle does not shut off--problem is defect in the transmission and apparently this is fairly common defect yet there is no recall???
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-09-15
- VIN: 1G1RC6S59KU
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: Vehicle has developed an intermittent issue when placed in park. Displays a message "Attention Needed: Shift to Park" accompanied by audio alerts inside and outside of the vehicle. This is obviously unsafe as the vehicle cannot be parked and turned off reliably. GM Technical Bulletin 19-NA-206 issued in May 2021 (attached) specifically states that that this repair is covered for the Volt by the separate Voltec Component Warranty. GM refuses to honor the warranty.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-09-05
- VIN: 1G1RD6S57KU
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: I purchased this vehicle from East Bay BMW in Pleasanton, CA on April 8, 2023. On August 28, 2023, to September 4, 2023, I began to receive messages on the dashboard stating shift to park. The shift lever was in park but was not registering this. I had to wiggle the shift lever to get the message to go away and be able to turn my vehicle off. On September 5, 2023, I had the same issue but this time no matter what I did the message would not go away and I was not able to turn my car off for 10 minutes. On September 5, 2023, I called the dealership and spoke with [XXX] -the Service Advisor who told me he would need to speak with his colleagues and get back to me. As of today September 5, 2023. I have no solution to this problem and cannot drive this vehicle for fear I won't be able to have it recognized when it is in park. UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-03-22
- VIN: 1G1RD6S56KU
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: This is a Legitimately Serious Concern regarding GM Vehicles (including Chevrolet) and Dealer Service Compliance with "Safety Warnings" and Reliability Warnings as in Factory Service Manuals. Specifically "Single Use Fasteners" and "Do Not Use Air-Impact on Brake System Fasteners" and "TTY Fastener Dual Pass Torque-to-Yield Specifications" . . . 1.) Widespread Non Compliance with Single Use Brake Components (Fasteners, Seals, Bellows) - every set of Brake-Pads / Rotor Replacement should show corresponding Parts Billing. 2.) Shortcuts to Brake System Service by using Air-Wrench removal / installation using Torture-Sticks. 3.) Multiple Different Torque Specifications for each Component / Fastener (upper/lower/front/rear) likely also 'Shortcuts Taken by using Air-Wrench Torque-Sticks vs Precision Torque Wrench (Pass1=Torque, Pass2 = Rotation Degrees) Seriously these are all called out in the Factory Service Manuals. To inspect, without biasing discovery, but easily, a video (shop security cam) review would easily confirm NONCOMPLIANCE of Impact-Wrench Use on Brake Component Fasteners and TTY Fasteners Protocols and a Simple Review of Brake Rotors should show at least 2 NEW TTY Fasteners per each New Rotor used (check invoices for Rotor Replacement Services). This is NOT A Trivial Picky Customer Concern . . . It is a *Serious Safety Concern* . . . Check the Factory Service Manual, note that most likely inventory control doesn't show TTY Single use Fasteners / Rotor Replacement correlation . . . See Service Manual WARNING . . . Consult your Liability Attorneys to estimate the Cost of Urgent Safety Recall for Dealer Serviced Rotors/Brakes. . . . Compliance is not a Nice To Do Thing . . . Compliance is Mandatory Engineering Factory Service Manual Specifications. Period. Do Not Neglect Action on this Factory Specifications Compliance Mandate as spelled out in detail in the Factory Service Manuals for most GM Vehicles serviced by Certified Dealer Service
UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-08-31
- VIN: 1G1RC6S53KU
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: Started in late summer/fall of 2022 getting 'shift to park' error. The vehicle is in park and unable to turn off the vehicle when I get this error. I have noticed the error is more prone to come on when the parking break is also engaged or if it's on any sort of hill but I cannot pinpoint the cause of the annoying error. Sometimes I could spend 5 minutes or more getting the error to clear--usually am able to clear by doing a combination of moving/turning on/off the parking break, the shift and/or turning on/off the car and/or opening the door.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-01-28
- VIN: 1G1RB6S51KU
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: 2019 Chevy Volt gave a Shift to Park message when vehicle was already in Park. Could not turn off vehicle. Had to restart Volt, then take out of park, but back in park and message disappeared and was able to safely leave vehicle. This happened approximately 6 times in one outing. Also somehow the electric parking brake light came on the dash console but I had not applied the parking brake yet!! No symptoms, warning lamps, or messages before this happened. Have not made appointment yet to take to dealer to get repaired - hopefully under warranty.
VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-09-30
- VIN: 1g1rb6s51ku
- Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: I was getting on the I15 freeway. After I entered, I set the cruise control and it immediately began to accelerate the vehicle to maximum speed. I was unable to turn it off and had to repeatedly push the brakes to keep the speed below 70 + mph. Smoke from the brakes began to fill the passenger compartment. I got off the freeway and when I slowed to about 20 mph, I heard a clunk under the dash and the cruise control turned off. I drove home the rest of the way without cruise control without incident. I am taking the car to a Chevy dealer today to investigate the cause.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-08-09
- VIN: 1G1RD6S58KU

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-08-03
- VIN: 1G1RB6S52KU
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: Intermittently, the car would not turn off, starting in about July, 2022. After shifting the car into park and pressing the On/Off switch, the car displayed a message like "Action required. Shift to park". It was impossible to know if the car really was not in park, and would roll into someone, and it was certainly unsafe to walk away and leave the car "on". A Chevy forum showed that this problem is COMMON and pointed me to GM TSB 19-NA-206 (https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2020/MC-10171895-9999.pdf). The TSB exactly describes the symptom I observed and lists one of the exact parts that the Huston Chevrolet service department replaced on 8/3/2022 - 84733196 N-Harness. The dealer, Chevrolet customer service, and GM customer service all told me that this repair was not covered under warranty, though the TSB says this on page 4: "Specific to the Volt model, repairs are covered under the Voltec (Electric and Hybrid Vehicle) Warranty." GM said that I would have received a letter if the TSB applies to my specific car. I paid Huston Chevrolet $446.79 to repair this problem, and believe the manufacturer should 1) reimburse me for the cost and 2) notify other owners about this common and dangerous manufacturing defect.
POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-06-01
- VIN: 1G1RA6S51KU
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: About half the time, when I put the vehicle into park, a warning comes up telling me that the vehicle is not in park. I can make the problem go away by wiggling the shift lever. But it is a recurring problem, and it is getting worse.
POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-07-20
- VIN: 1G1RA6S59KU
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: Vehicle displays error message "shift to park" while vehicle seems to be in park, resulting in a situation in which the vehicle will remain running and energized after driver thinks they have put the vehicle in park, turned it off, and exited.
POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-06-12
- VIN: 1G1RA6S52KU
- Components: POWER TRAIN

SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-05-29
- Crash: 1
- VIN: 1G1RC6S53KU
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: I was in stop and go traffic; when the car in front of me stopped suddenly, I tried to brake. I was far enough back that I should have been able to stop in plenty of time. My brake pedal froze and would not depress (brake pump failure). There were no warning light prior. The car has less than 28,000 miles and relatively new tires.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-05-09
- Number Of Injuries: 1
- Crash: 1
- VIN: 1G1RC6S5XKU
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: Was approaching an intersection with a stoplight that was red. Another car stopped at light. Applied brakes, but car slowed down only slightly, no matter how hard the brake pedal was applied. It was like braking on black ice, even though the cars wheels were still going around. Rear ended the car at the light. Suspect that computer was telling the car to try to charge the battery using the forward motion of the car instead of stopping the car. All air bags deployed. Injuries were limited to bruises, abrasions, and general body soreness. Vehicle currently in possession of Allstate Ins. Have requested that brake system be inspected, and computer info be downloaded. Car was totaled. No injuries in other vehicle. No previous problems, no warning lamps or messages prior to accident. Car had been well maintained, including all recalls, and received routine maintenance (oil change, tire rotation) about three months before the incident. Problem has not been reproduced, nor is it likely to be since the vehicle is undrivable.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-03-01
- VIN: 1g1ra6S55ku
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: Car does not shift into park without multiple tries. I can’t turn off car if it’s not on park
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-02-15
- VIN: 1G1RC6S53KU
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: 2019 Volt - Shift to Park issue My 2019 Chevy Volt is having an issue when shifted to Park from Drive and all shift stick positions. If you shift to park to turn off engine you get a message on console that says "SHIFT TO PARK). You have repeatedly turn off/on engine/system to message to clear so you can leave vehicle off. System will not shut off until car reads that car is park. Something (sensor?) is not telling system that car is in Park.
POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-08-30
- VIN: 1G1RA6S59KU
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: When shifting to park, the vehicle reports that it is NOT in park. This prevents turning off the vehicle. It is difficult to confirm that the vehicle is indeed in the park mode. This is happening more and more frequently and we will contact the dealer for service. I have not called the dealer about this yet.
POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-05-14
- VIN: 1G1RA6S55KU
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: System propulsion lost on start up. When I called a tow truck for a jump, they confirmed the 12V battery still had a full charge and the vehicle should have been able to start. The dealer indicated that they saw the same propulsion system DTC, but could not identify the problem. After a few days of having it, the car worked "normally" again, and the dealer was unable to replicate it in the shop. This happened once before on start up - the vehicle spontaneously lost power and seemingly resolved itself a few days later.
2019 Chevrolet Volt recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 2 recalls for different components of the 2019 Chevrolet Volt.
- Manufacturer: General Motors LLC
- Components: SEAT BELTS:REAR/OTHER
- Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Cadillac CT6, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Suburban, Volt, and GMC Yukon XL vehicles. Certain second-row or third-row rear seatbelts retractor assemblies may not automatically lock when the seatbelt is fully pulled out of the retractor, possibly preventing a child seat from being properly secured. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
- Consequence: If the child seat is not properly secured in the event of a crash, it can increase the risk of injury.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the rear seatbelt retractors and replace them if necessary, free of charge. The recall began November 7, 2018. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 18315.
- Manufacturer: General Motors LLC
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FOUNDATION COMPONENTS:DISC:CALIPER
- Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Chevrolet Equinox, Impala, Cruze, Volt and Bolt EV vehicles, GMC Terrain vehicles, Buick Lacrosse and Regal vehicles, Cadillac XTS and XTS Professional vehicles and 2018 Chevrolet Malibu vehicles. The rear brake caliper pistons may have an insufficient coating causing gas pockets to form, potentially reducing rear brake performance.
- Consequence: A reduction of braking performance can increase the risk of a crash.

I have a 2016 Volt and, despite the anemic climate control and harsh ride, I have thoroughly enjoyed driving it. However, sitting in the driver's seat for prolonged periods of time reveals the deficiency of the support. Getting in and out of the car necessitates acrobatics, which has become a real problem as I age and get stiffer. So, I was excited to hear that the 2019 version would have a new power driver's seat with adjustable lumbar support! If it solved my ergonomic problem, I would lease or buy the 2019 when my lease expires (soon). I tested the new seat in the 2019 and it feels great! It is comfortable and supportive. Unfortunately, the seat is lower than the 2016 seat by a centimeter at best, which makes getting in and out of the vehicle as difficult as before, even with the new seat. As a result, I am now looking at a Kia Niro PHEV with comfortable seats and an easy entry and exit via the driver's door. It's a shame, I am disappointed.
-
This is my 3rd chev volt premier. It is a very safe car. My current mileage is 124 mpg on the dash board. I get 40+ mpg on an extended trip average speed over 60 mph. The car has not had gasoline added in over a year. My electric home bill is about .37 cents a day on average. I am retired and this is the best car I have ever owned. Chevy can not be beat with this EREV. To bad to sad to you suckers who do not own one.
-
I had the Volt and it was probably the best PHEV. However, since my wife already had a gas car, I decided to switch to a more eco-friendly option. That's when I got the Chevy Bolt, which I absolutely love. It has an EPA-rated range of 259 miles, but I usually get around 300 miles on a single charge. I never have to worry about buying gas or waiting in line for it, and I always start each week with a full tank of power. Although I had to turn in my Volt in 2020 when the lease was up, I would definitely consider buying a new 2023 model, which sells for around $28K. The Volt was an excellent vehicle, but GM decided to discontinue it to focus on EVs. However, a good used one could still be a great option for some.
-
What's not to like? You get the best electric range of any PHEV (up to 70 miles in summer) and an additional 380 miles from regular gas (thanks to the 9-gallon gas tank) after that. Plus, it requires minimal maintenance, is loaded with tech, and was available at a great price before GM discontinued the Volt in 2019.
-
That's the best one yet.

The car can lose power while in motion, which can be extremely dangerous if the driver is not expecting it. However, Chevy has reprogrammed some software on my car to solve this issue, which I hope will work. Additionally, the seats are positioned quite low and far behind the B-post, making it difficult to get in and out of the vehicle and causing some serious back issues. There are also some serious blind spots, even with the mirrors. On the positive side, driving an EV is enjoyable. It's worth noting that approximately 40% of EV range is lost when the temperatures outdoors are in the 30's (F) and below. The MPG as displayed on the instrumentation has steadily decreased to about 59 now, and having started around 75. I haven't had the car in hot weather yet. Lastly, the seating material could be of better quality and there is a driver's left foot rest pedal that is in an uncomfortable spot.

I recently purchased a 2018 Chevy Volt and have already charged it twice. While I was disappointed to find that the EVGO fast charging stations do not work with my car, I have found that the Charge Point stations work well and only take about 6 hours to charge my car. I chose a hybrid vehicle because I drive a lot, including trips to Mexico where charging stations may not be readily available. Despite this, I am very happy with my car so far. When I bought it from Car Max on Kearny Mesa, I was told there were no recalls, but later found out that there was one related to the high voltage battery. It's important to do your own research and not always rely on what the dealership tells you. Fortunately, I received a notice from the Chevy app I downloaded and the issue was resolved by updating the hybrid powertrain control module 2.

The Voltec drivetrain is an exceptional concept, and I am a proud owner of a 2018 Volt with 16k miles. Although I had a minor fender bender, requiring a new rear quarter panel and lights, GM was unable to provide the necessary parts, citing the closure of the plant and the unavailability of tooling. Despite my suspicions that this may violate federal regulations, I remained confident and persistent in my efforts to resolve the issue. After three months and the involvement of the state commissioner of insurance, GM ultimately decided to total the vehicle. I am disappointed by their decision to discontinue the Volt, especially given its impressive 50+ mile electric range, which has allowed me to rarely burn gas in my small town.

I have owned my 2018 Volt for almost a month now. Despite some initial issues with propulsion and electronic stability control vehicle trouble codes, I have taken the necessary steps to address these concerns and am confident in the car's overall performance and reliability.

This car has had persistent issues that have not been resolved by GM since the first Volt was built. The 7.2 charger and Infotainment system have been problematic, with the latter losing features after updates. Additionally, the tire pressure sensors and USB/SD card slots are not functioning properly. Despite my complaints, GM has not addressed these issues. It is clear that GM needs to take responsibility for these problems and work towards finding a solution.
