The Chevrolet Impala (/ɪmˈpælə, -ˈpɑːlə/) is a full-size car that was built by Chevrolet for model years 1958 to 1985, 1994 to 1996, and 2000 to 2020. The Impala was Chevrolet's popular flagship passenger car and was among the better-selling American-made automobiles in the United States.

For its debut in 1958, the Impala was distinguished from other models by its symmetrical triple taillights. The Chevrolet Caprice was introduced as a top-line Impala Sport Sedan for model year 1965, later becoming a separate series positioned above the Impala in 1966, which, in turn, remained above the Chevrolet Bel Air and the Chevrolet Biscayne. The Impala continued as Chevrolet's most popular full-sized model through the mid-1980s. Between 1994 and 1996, the Impala was revised as a 5.7-liter V8–powered version of the Chevrolet Caprice Classic sedan.

In 2000, the Impala was reintroduced again as a mainstream front-wheel drive car. In February 2014, the 2014 Impala ranked No. 1 among Affordable Large Cars in U.S. News & World Report's rankings. When the 10th generation of the Impala was introduced for the 2014 model year, the 9th generation was rebadged as the Impala Limited and sold only to fleet customers through 2016. During that time, both versions were sold in the United States and Canada. The 10th-generation Impala was also sold in the Middle East and South Korea.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-11-24
  • VIN: 1G1BN52P6RR
  • Components: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
  • Summary: COMPONENT 1 - EXHAUST MANIFOLD THE BOLTS THAT SECURE THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD BREAK FROM THE HEAT CYCLING ONF THE MANIFOLD. THE SOLUTION IS TO REPLACE THEM WITH STRONGER BOLTS THAT WERE SUPPLIED BY GM. THE ISSUE HERE IS THAT THERE IS AN EXTREME DANGER OF EXHAUST GASES LEAKING INTO THE VEHICLE BECAUSE OF POOR FITTING MANIFOLDS. A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION AND PRESENTLY NOT COVERED BY GM WARRANTIES. COMPONENT 2 - STEERING WHEEL HORN. THIS HORN HAS A NICKNAME OF THE "SLEDGEHAMMER HORN" SINCE IT TAKES CONSIDERABLE FORCE TO SOUND THE HORN. ONCE AGAIN, GM RECOGNIZED THE PROBLEM AND HAS A NEW HORN ASSEMBLY TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS DOES NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM FOR CURRENT OWNERS, UNLESS AT CONSIDERABLE EXPENSE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION SINCE DEPRESSING THE HORN SWITCH MAY NOT SOUND THE HORN QUICK ENOUGH, IF AT ALL, IN CAS OF AN EMERGENCY. IT SIMPLY TAKES TOO LONG TO RECOGNIZE THAT THE HORN IS NOT SOUNDED UNTIL IT IS TOO LATE. COMPONENT 3 - AUXILLIARY POWER STUD. THERE IS A POWER STUD UNDER THE HOOD THAT ACTS AS A DISTRIBUTION POINT FOR MUCH OF THE POWER REQUIREMENTS. THE COMPOSITION OF THE THIS STUD WAS AN ALLOY THAT DID NOT STAND UP WELL UNDER USAGE, AND AS IT HEATED UP, THE SUPPORT ASSEMBLY BECOMES DEFORMED. IN THE PROCESS, ALL POWER IS LOST, AND IN SOME DOCUMENTED CASES, FIRES HAVE STARTED. IN MY PARTICULAR CASE, I LOST ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY IN THE RAIN. I WAS VERY LUCKY TO HAVE SURVIVED WITHOUT ANY SERIOUS INJURY. ONCE AGAIN, GM HAS A SOLUTION FOR THE PROBLEM. THEY NOW USE A STUD WHOSE MATERIAL CONTENT IS BRASS. IT IS QUITE SECURE AND CAUSES NOT FURTHER PROBLEMS. ONCE AGAIN --- A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY CONDITION RECOGNIZED BY GM. IN ALL OF THESE CASES GM RECOGNIZED THE PROBLEM AS SERIOUS, DEVELOPED A SOLUTION AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC, BUT FAILED TO MOVE TO A RECALL LEVEL. THIS IS IN SPITE OF THE OBVIOUS SAFETY HAZARD.

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2000-01-28
  • VIN: 1G1BN52P4RR
  • Components: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE
  • Summary: MY HUSBAND DISASSEMBLED THE GAS TANK TO GET TO THE FUEL PUMP SO HE COULD REPLACE IT. THE FUEL PUMP IS LOCATED INSIDE THE TANK AND WHEN HE LOOKED AND THE WIRING HARNESS THE WIRES HAD MELTED THE EXTERIOR COATING AND THE PLASTIC FITTING THAT ALSO SIT IN THE GAS TANK. WE FEEL THAT THIS COULD HAVE ENDED VERY TRAGIC WITH THE GAS TANK CATCHING ON FIRE. I AM 5 MONTHS PREGNANT AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED IN THE PAST AND IF THERE IS SOME SORT OF ACTION WE CAN TAKE TO KEEP IT FROM HAPPENING AGAIN. *AK( DOT NUMBER: )

Negative 1994 Chevrolet Impala car reviews

  1. Albin Kutch 2024-11-12

Hey there! I just wanted to share my thoughts on this car. In my opinion, it's a shame that GM stopped making it. The performance is really impressive - it can even outdo a Mustang and other imports. Plus, it handles surprisingly well for its size. The only issue I've had is with some minor reliability problems, but I think that could have been avoided with better maintenance. Overall, I think it's a great choice for anyone looking for a family car with some muscle. Thanks for listening!

Positive 1994 Chevrolet Impala car reviews

  1. Gerardo Effertz 2024-10-05

This car has a powerful engine, capable of passing in an instant, and comfortably seats 5. I'm not sure why GM stopped making this car, but it's definitely a shame. Maybe they wanted it to hold its value, unlike Chrysler's PT Cruiser.

  2. Armand Murphy 2024-04-09

This car fits me perfectly at my age and comfort expectations. I have owned several pre-70's Chevy muscle cars, and each had their high points. However, this modern muscle car has air conditioning, 4-wheel disc brakes, comfy leather seating, and power features that the older models lacked. Although it may not get the same attention as a '70 Chevelle or '66 Nova, I am impressed by how many thumbs up I get when driving it. Mine is a 4000-mile original that I rarely drive, but when I do, I enjoy it immensely. While it may not be the quickest or fastest car out there, it has plenty of power and gets decent gas mileage for a 4200lb LT1 V8. Overall, the car is perfect for me.

  3. Jackson Tremblay 2024-03-18

The 1994 Impalla SS is the best vehicle you could ever own. It's a big, fast, and stylish car that's perfect for families who want a high-performance alternative to a mini-van. It's great for hauling groceries and kids, or for cruising the beach or town. Not many family cars that weigh 4000-plus can beat a V-8 Mustang or Camaro, but the Impalla does it with ease...

  4. Candido Senger 2024-03-05

This 4-door family car is everything you could want in a sedan. It boasts ample horsepower and a sleek design. It's no surprise that more and more younger adults are choosing to own one. In fact, 85% of owners used to be 50 and up! This car speaks for itself. When compared to BMW, Mazda, and Ford's 4-door vehicles, there really is no comparison unless you want to pay a foolish amount. So, would you rather have 3 Impalas 'SS' or 1 Beemer? The answer is pretty clear. Also, don't forget to consider the percentage of dollar loss over time. Check out the retail value of all of them and see who lost the most value!
