1990 Chevrolet G30 problems
The Chevrolet Van or Chevy Van (also known as the Chevrolet/GMC G-series vans and GMC Vandura) is a range of vans that was manufactured by General Motors from the 1964 to 1996 model years. Introduced as the successor for the rear-engine Corvair Corvan/Greenbrier, the model line also replaced the panel van configuration of the Chevrolet Suburban. The vehicle was sold both in passenger van and cargo van configurations as well as a cutaway van chassis that served as the basis for a variety of custom applications.
Produced across three generations (1964–66, 1967–70, and 1970–96), the model line was sold under a wide variety of model names under both the Chevrolet and GMC brands. The first two generations were forward control vehicles (with the engine placed between the seats); the third generation adopted a configuration placing the engine forward of the driver. The second and third generations shared powertrain commonality with the C/K pickup truck model line.
After the 1996 model year, GM retired the G-Series vans, replacing them with the GMT600-platform Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana.

Common 1990 Chevrolet G30 problems
The 1990 Chevrolet G30 is reported to have several common problems, primarily related to engine performance and electrical systems.
One of the most frequently reported issues is the engine running too rich, causing black smoke from the tailpipe and eventual engine failure. This issue is often attributed to leaking fuel injectors, which can be diagnosed by observing the fuel spray pattern while the engine is running. The fuel should form a cone-shaped spray, with no drips.
Another common problem is related to the Engine Control Unit (ECU), which controls every aspect of engine operation and vehicle driveability. If the ECU is bad, it can affect any part of the engine's operation, and it must almost always be replaced. There are no serviceable parts to the ECU, so if it is faulty, it cannot be repaired.
In addition to these engine-related issues, the 1990 Chevrolet G30 is also reported to have electrical problems, including issues with the ignition system and wiring. These problems can cause the vehicle to stall or have difficulty starting, and they can also affect the vehicle's electrical systems, such as the lights and gauges.
The 1990 Chevrolet G30 also has a history of safety issues, including recalls related to the fuel system, brakes, and electrical systems. These recalls are important for ensuring the safety of the vehicle, and they should be addressed promptly if they are discovered.
In summary, the 1990 Chevrolet G30 is a reliable vehicle, but it is prone to certain common problems, including engine performance issues, electrical problems, and safety recalls. Owners of this vehicle should be aware of these issues and take steps to address them promptly to ensure the safe and reliable operation of their vehicle.
