2022 Hyundai Venue problems
The Hyundai Venue (Korean: 현대 베뉴) is a subcompact crossover SUV manufactured by the South Korean manufacturer Hyundai. The Venue debuted at the 2019 New York International Auto Show as Hyundai's smallest global crossover, prior to the introduction of other smaller SUVs such as the Casper and Exter.
As of 2023, the Venue is positioned between the Kona or Creta, and above the Exter or Casper in Hyundai's international crossover lineup. It shares its platform with the fifth-generation Accent.
Overview
Two versions of the Venue were developed and produced for different markets. The Korean-made Venue is code named QX or QX1, while the Indian-oriented, internally code named as QXi, is shorter in length and wheelbase than the Korean version.
The Venue is not marketed in Europe in favour of the European-focused, Hyundai i20-based Bayon which was introduced in 2021.

STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-07-16
- VIN: KMHRC8A38NU
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: While driving, as I turn the steering wheel to the left there is an additional sudden pull in the same direction.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-06-25
- VIN: KMHRC8A34NU
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: When the car is started, the radio screen sometimes stays off. When this happens, the only way to resolve it is to shut off the car, open the door, and then restart the car. This issue occurs randomly, and when it does, there is no rear-view camera available, which poses a significant safety risk. Without the camera, drivers cannot see if there is a child or obstacle behind them, increasing the risk of a serious accident. I have reported this issue to the dealership multiple times, but they dismiss it, claiming it is not a problem unless they witness it themselves. An internet search reveals that this is a widespread issue known to Hyundai, but they are not taking any steps to correct it. This defect could lead to a tragic accident, and I am hoping you can help initiate a recall to address it. The problem seems to occur more frequently in the summer heat. Please help us ensure the safety of others, as it appears the automakers are more concerned with profits than with safety.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-02-23
- VIN: KMHRC8A31NU
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: Twice in the last year (2/23/23 and 1/17/24), the horn has failed and when trying to have the dealer and manufacturer diagnosed the issue, they give me the runaround has been taking it into the dealer. They are unable to replicate the issue. However, they also indicate that it is a known issue with this type of vehicle. Eventually after insistence from me or providing a recorded video of the failure, they will eventually replace the horn. While the issue does seem to be somewhat intermittent in that the horn will sometimes not function at all while other times only one of the two pitches will function. The functionality of the poor does somewhat seem to be impacted by the ambient temperature as well as high humidity, or if the vehicle was recently wet.

SEAT BELTS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-06-27
- VIN: KMHRC8A37NU
- Components: SEAT BELTS
- Summary: Hyundai issued a recall on 06/27/22 to repair part of the seat belt pretensioner, and they continue to send reminders to have the repair. However, they are out of the required part and according to dealers they will not give an ETA for delivery of the part. I have been in touch with my dealer since last fall and they state they have not ever been given any guidance from Hyundai regarding the part. It would seem that the manufacturer would have been prepared with a supply of the replacement part, and certainly has had ample time for production. I would simply looking for an estimated date when this part will be available. Thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

- Date Of Incident: 2023-02-02

- Summary: While driving on a highway a car started to creep into my lane when I pressed on the horn. I did not hear the horn, luckily the other vehicle did not change lanes. As I knew I was near a dealer i immediately got off the highway to head to the dealer. Upon pulling into the service bay the advisor opened my door, and I said before I turn off the car I want to try the horn. This time the horn did sound, but it seemed to be much higher in volume. I explained my concern to the advisor and pressed the horn again a couple times. And asked if she thought that sounded normal she said “all cars sound different so I can’t tell”. She then explained since the horn was working there would be nothing she could do for me today.

SEAT BELTS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-09-01
- VIN: KMHRB8A3XNU
- Components: SEAT BELTS
- Summary: August 08, 2022 I called the Towson office to arrange an oil change appointment since I had a bad experience with them my very first oil change I was told to speak with the manager to set up an appointment for a free auto detailing whenever I bring my car in for an oil change. The Service Manager informed me that there was also a recall on my car and that when I bring my car in I can have the recall taken care of as well. My appointment was set for September 1, 2022 I took the entire day off of work since I didn’t expect my car to be done in a few hours. The service advisor that day told me that the parts were not in for the recall and said that it wouldn’t be completed that day. Well that was an entire day that I took off for an oil change and my car to be washed and vacuumed. He told me that once the parts were in that I would receive a text message saying that it was in. Well that was September 1, 2022 it will be December 1 in a day and nothing. Not to mention I would not have know about the recall prior to the letter coming in the mail had the service manager not mentioned it to me. I have my appointment confirmation that states the recall as well as the receipt from my September 1 appointment that states I would receive a text message once the parts were in. I think this is totally unacceptable.

I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to share my thoughts on my venue. I absolutely love it! The only thing I wish it had was a center armrest, but I understand that's not included in the basic model. Despite that, it rides smoothly and is incredibly fuel efficient. Thanks for listening!
-
Great safety and tech features!

I'm so glad to hear that you love the seats!

Excellent fuel mileage. I'm glad I switched from a truck to this car when fuel prices went up. At first, I wasn't sure how I felt about it, but I've gotten used to it and now I love the fuel mileage overall. I wouldn't trade it for anything. I definitely recommend it and I'd buy another one without hesitation.

I've had my Mitsubishi Outlander Sport since 2014 and was looking for an upgrade. When I saw the 2022 Hyundai Venue at the dealership, I knew it was the perfect fit for me. As a nurse, I can't afford to miss work due to bad weather, so I needed a reliable car. I'm so glad I bought this gem! This is my first Hyundai and I'm already hooked. I got the Limited trim with a roof rack and this little car does not disappoint! It's zippy, fun to drive, handles beautifully, and has all the safety features I need. The media screen is the best and even the speakers have amazing sound! Although the trunk is small, I can still haul all of my kayaking gear with ease. The sport mode gives you a kick of spunk and I've yet to use the snow mode here in P.A. I truly love this car and can say I'm actually sad that my commute is only 10 miles to work.... certainly not enough time in the morning to enjoy the drive. This is definitely the best car purchase I've made!

The mid-range venue was purchased new in 2019 and has less than 20,000km's. Unfortunately, it has broken down three times with the same issue and had to be towed back to the dealer. It has been at the dealers for 10 days now waiting for parts. As a result, the vehicle has proven to be unreliable and I am extremely disappointed with it. This experience has led me to decide that I would not purchase another Hyundai.
Brian Pfeffer 2024-07-19
The vehicle has good gas mileage, but it is cheaply made. Unfortunately, the seat belts are not adjustable and can cut into your neck. Additionally, the wiper blades are not very effective and do not provide a clean wipe, even when the vehicle was new. The tires tend to squeal even at low speeds, such as when reversing into a spot or after it rains. Perhaps investing a little more in a higher quality vehicle would be a better choice next time.

I decided to go with the Tucson instead of the Venue because it had more leg room. Although the Venue is nice, it may be more suitable for shorter individuals. At 5'5'', I found the Tucson to be a better fit for me.

The car was marketed as an economical and cute vehicle. I live in Chicago, where potholes are a driver's worst enemy. Unfortunately, after owning the car for only three days, I ran over a pothole and completely popped my front driver's side tire. I called Triple A to assist me, and they were very helpful. This lovely pothole managed to bend my control arm, rim, and back beam for rear tires. While my tires were replaced under warranty, the mechanical fixes cost a total of $3500 dollars. On the bright side, the snow mode was impressive and allowed me to navigate the harsh winter without any struggle (impressive for an FWD). Additionally, the sport mode feature was really enjoyable. I decided to take this car on a trip from Chicago to San Antonio for a family event, and its features made for a fantastic journey. The features and price were great, but it is their cheapest subcompact SUV for a reason. I would recommend it, but watch out for those bumps and potholes for sure!

I have the 2021 Venue Essential because I was determined to get a manual car. I've always driven manuals and I love it. However, I have experienced some issues with this car. During my test drive, I noticed a grinding noise when I shift gears, which has been quite loud and persistent. Despite bringing this up with the dealership, they didn't seem to take it seriously at first. After a few months, they did replace the clutch slave cylinder, which has made a slight improvement, but the noise is still present. Additionally, I have had some issues with the front speakers and brakes, but the dealership has been working to address these problems. Overall, I would recommend being cautious when considering this car.
