Concept
The Envision was first introduced in 2011 as a design concept. It was a small crossover with two large scissor doors opening upward. The concept was a plug-in hybrid with advanced technology such as a solar roof and head-up display. The waterfall grille made it to the production version of the Envision.
First generation (2014)
The Envision was first introduced in China in August 2014, also known by its Chinese name, “Ang Ke Wei” (昂科威). It went on sale in China on October 20.
The Envision debuted in the U.S. at the North American International Auto Show on January 11, 2016, sharing the segment with a second generation GMC Terrain and the Chevrolet Equinox. It went on sale in the United States in the summer of 2016, making it the first Chinese-built GM vehicle to be sold in America. It was initially offered with all-wheel drive, and subsequently with optional front-wheel drive for model year 2017.
The North American version of the Envision features two powertrains: a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 197 hp (147 kW) and 192 lb⋅ft (260 N⋅m) torque, and a turbo-charged 2-liter four-cylinder engine SAE certified at 252 hp (188 kW) and 260 lb⋅ft (353 N⋅m) torque. Both were initially paired with a third-generation six-speed transmission. For the 2016 model year, the Envision was only available in Premium I and Premium II trim levels, with the 2.0L turbo engine, seven active safety technologies, and OnStar/Intellilink connectivity. The trim levels expanded to five for the 2017 model year.
In addition to the larger engines offered in North America, Chinese buyers also have the option of a turbocharged 1.5-liter unit.
Trim levels for the first generation Envision were known as the 20T and 28T.

The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 MPH and coming to a red light, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop immediately. The contact shifted to neutral before the vehicle came to a complete stop. The engine continued to rev abnormally as if the vehicle was accelerating. After several minutes, the engine stopped revving excessively, and the contact was able to continue driving. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that excessive force was needed to depress the brake pedal. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 21,000.

- Summary: Purchased new in March 2023 -Repair Safety Restraint System failed (alert signal) failed late June 2023. Inspected at the Dealer/mechanic on July 11 2023, and it was determined the Safety Restraint System panel was defective. Part ordered late June early July 2023 (estimate). Part was backordered and not available for installation August 31 2023. Service department failed to notify me that the part was in. I had to call them. Appointment was set for Replacement part to be installed on September 6 2023. In the meantime a new alert appeared (Check engine light). I notified the service department of the new issue (check engine ) and the need for them to inspect that. The vehicle was due for an oil change and rotation as well. Service department determined that the engine failure resulting in the (check engine light) was due to a defective fuel pump/injection system. Part ordered and an appointment was set. Replacement part was installed on September 12 2023. Literally three days later, after the fuel pump/injection was replaced, another alert appeared (check engine light). September 15, 2023. This particular vehicle has major issues and I am contacting the dealer for a complete buy back and/or replacement vehicle. My safety and the safety of my passengers was at risk from the first minute the restraint system failure signaled. The part was backordered for a long while. I had no other form of transportation. The dealership did not offer a loaner vehicle or to pay for a rental car, nothing. In fact they did not seem concerned at all. Not concerned enough for the service department to place follow up phone calls to me with status updates over the many weeks I waited for the part to arrive. The car obviously has electrical and fuel injection issues straight from the manufacturing floor (which according to reports Buick is aware of). Ref. Edmunds and NHTSA reports. There are a host of reasons why my safety was at risk during the few mo of ownership.

- Summary: The collision warning system allows you to choose whether you want beeps or just seat vibration. I always chose beeps. But the vehicle randomly switches out of this and goes to seat vibration without me doing anything. This has happened numerous times, and the first time contributed to me, backing into another vehicle. I asked, my service department to check it and of course nothing showed up because it happens randomly. Just yesterday as I was pulling into my garage I was waiting for it to beep and nothing. So I put it in park and checked the vehicle settings, and once again, it was not on beeps, although I had never taken it off. I’m disgusted with the safety feature that is not working.

- Summary: On Wednesday, 06/07/2023, my 2022 Buick Envision Avenir suddenly displayed a large number of error codes on the dashboard. I was able to quickly identify that the only operation of the vehicle that was impacted seemed to be the brakes as I had to exert a much larger effort to slow the vehicle than normal and it obviously took a much longer time to stop. I had the vehicle towed to Scranton Motors in Vernon CT and they have basically told me that they "can't replicate the problem" and that I should, "bring it back if it happens more consistently." As this is the brakes we are talking about, "happening more consistently " might end up in me not being able to bring it back due to a potentially fatal crash that may result from driving this vehicle for over an hour twice per day on my way to work. I have opened a case with Buick, and told the dealer that I do not feel comfortable picking up the vehicle at this point.

- Summary: The Buick died due to a fuel pump control module. This happened in a busy intersection. We were unable to force car into neutral so it could be pushed out of traffic . Ninth minutes later a tow truck showed up and had to drag car onto roll back. We have exhausted attempts with GM and its dealers and no answers. I also have a 2021 Gmc pickup with push button start and same problem. This is a major safety problem and a danger to driver and passenger .

- Summary: This is my 2nd complaint regarding this car. On, 11/5/22, I was making a left hand turn on a highway, and heard a humming sound, that was elevating like the sound of an airplane. At first I thought it was coming from the music that was playing. I turned it down and the noise was still there. The screen then went black and had red writing on it. I have to have one set of gasses to drive and another pair to see up close. My GPS talks thru the screen and started talking, because I was turning, and I was unable to change glasses quickly enough to see what it said. I did report it to one of the owners of the dealership at the time, but received no answer back. when I went to have the oil changed recently and have the heated seat modules installed, I asked them to pull up the codes, to see if it would show what happened. The service guy told me that when that happened it was because the car had lost communication with the computer. He gave me a copy of the codes list, but I'm not sure if it is a complete list or not

- Summary: On 10/12/22 I was stopped at a red light. I was the first person in line at the red light, right at the entrance to the NYS Thruway. When the light turned green, my car locked up and I was unable to proceed. People were honking at me but the car would not go out of park. Some road construction workers ran over to the car to see if they could push it out of traffic. I kept trying to turn it off and restart it. Finally, after many attempts it finally went into drive. The light was now red again, but the construction workers, held up oncoming traffic and told me to just go. I was on the same road as the the dealership where I leased it, so I called them, told them what happened and that I was on my way there. I had also received a message from Buick at the same time, saying it detected an engine/transmission problem with my car. The dealership told me not to bring it in, but I took it there anyway. I had lost my husband a month earlier, so I had no one to call at home to come get me. They kept it for a week, and said they couldn't find anything wrong, so had me pick the car up. They also said that someone had been driving it everyday, checking it, but you can see from the incident report, that they drove it a total of 3 miles. also, on the report that they put that I had said the check engine light was on. That is not true. I never told them that.
POWER TRAIN,ENGINE PROBLEM

- Summary: New Buick Envision 2022 has ongoing engine and powertrain issues. Vehicle has been returned to the dealer service department for squeaking sounds coming from the engine when manually turning car off, coolant smell coming from engine and loud whistling sound when accelerating in speed. Symptoms occur when engine is warmed up and driven for a period of time. Since purchasing the vehicle on October 15, 2022, it has been in service for approximately 72 days - with stated repairs, per the dealer - turbo hose replacement followed by the replacement of the turbo. Picked car up on February 1, 2023 after being in service for 54 days - took the vehicle 90 miles out of town and the engine squeaking/squealing sounds are just as prevalent and consistent, and can still smell coolant. The vehicle engine issues are a safety issue. No consumer should have to endure the immeasureable stress and inconvenience of buying a brand new vehicle with these maintenance issues, let alone any issues at all. The car now has approximately 2700 milles on it.

- Summary: Purchase the vehicle new with fifteen miles in June 2022, 11/3/2022 Service Instrument Cluster failure happened during a vehicle software update in November 2022. 11/7/2022 Took the vehicle to a GM Dealer they performed a software update that was to correct the problem. However, a day later the Service Instrument Cluster light came on. parts for this are on back order. 8/04/2022 When driving, the gears are not shifting correctly; also, while driving, the RPM jump up, When I speed up to move over to the next lane or pass, the vehicle hesitated, the engine would accelerate, up, and the vehicle started moving slowly. I also notice in this new vehicle that when I turn off the car, there is a loud noise like knocking coming from the front of the vehicle that lasts for a few minutes after the car is off. When program the memory seat seems to mix up drivers 1 and 2 must reprogram several times and it still doing the same thing. When I pruchased the car I was told the chip would be in between September and October and would be considered a recall having them put in. now it indefinite with no time frame of when the chip will be available. The purchased price and paid for this car included heated seats front and back. Paid for items not equipped on the car.

- Summary: Purchased 2022 Buick Envision on October 15, 2022, currently has estimated 2400 miles. One month after purchase at 2200 miles, November 16th, a squeaking noise started coming from engine when you turn the vehicle off. Additionally, engine makes a whistling sound when accelerating/ changing gears. Took vehicle into service station, showed service tech the recorded incidents on video, it was indicated it was the turbo hose causing the engine noise. Buick Morrow, GA service station kept vehicle for two weeks - indicating time needed to order hose/replace the turbo hose. Picked vehicle back up on Monday, December 5, 2022, the squeaking sound returned - recorded incidents. Vehicle engine continue to whistle when accelerating. I am scheduled to return my vehicle back to the Buick Morrow, GA service station today, December 9th to have the same reported issue looked at again.. Note: Filed a complaint with corporate and have requested the issue be escalated due to my concerns with the vehicle safety.
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM

- Summary: Car applied emergency braking when it should not have (and could have caused an accident)! Details: Driving approx 20 mph in traffic on highway in Houston. Approx 3-4 car lengths behind vehicle in front of me. There were cars to the left and right of us, .. they were staying within their lanes. For no apparent reason, the automatic braking system applied the brakes. The four of us in the car were jerked forward. Luckily the driver behind us was not tail-gating, or we would have been rear-ended. Note: This was a National rental car I had in Houston this past weekend. Nonetheless, I want to report this as this apparent software and/or sensor bug seems like a major safety risk to me. I tried to find a way to report this to Buick too, but they don't make it easy to find a way to report a safety complaint : (
AIR BAGS PROBLEM

I have pictures of the warning. It is very distracting when driving and warning bells are sounding and messages are popping up that take my eyes off the road. This vehicle has ~2500 miles and began at ~2400 miles.

- Summary: My vehicle still has a delay or hesitation with the shifting of gears while driving, causing a loss of power. At random times the vehicle has lost power while driving. Additionally, when the vehicle is turned off, there is a loud noise (knocking) coming from the front of the vehicle. Also, while driving there has been a burning smell. The vehicle is again scheduled for repair of the persistent issues that GM-certified specialists say the issues could not be duplicated. Recently the infotainment center blacked out after being the software updated. The screen produced issues with a variation of colors which disabled the use of the infotainment for several hours with the screen frozen. This is my second report of the same concerns with the same vehicle reported on 2/22/2022 as this vehicle is only six months young. The vehicle was inspected by GM's branding inspector in April of 2022. GM informed me that they did not find any issues at that time, but offered a settlement of repairs of 50,000 rewards points unbeknownst to me. As of June, GM offered another settlement offer of repairs only. However, GM has stated there are no issues. A lemon law warranty claim will be submitted.

My minor son and I were driving today, and an 18 wheeler started veering into our lane. When I sped up to move over to the next lane, the vehicle hesitated, the engine revved up, and the vehicle started moving slowly. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The vehicle is en route to the dealership. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Not yet Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? NO ? The issue is the AutoStop feature and the transmission. - Summary: The contact owns a 2022 Buick Envision. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked in the garage while he was working in the yard with the vehicle fob in his pocket. The contact stated as he walked into the garage, he noticed that the vehicle was running on its own. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact sat in the driver's seat, put his seatbelt on, depressed the brake pedal, pushed the turn off button and the vehicle turned off. The contact stated that the fob alone could not start the vehicle as the vehicle was designed to only start when he got in the driver seat, locked the driver's door, put his seatbelt on, and pushed the start button while in possession of the fob. The contact also attempted to start the vehicle with the fob alone several times to determine whether the fob alone could start the vehicle, but he was not successful. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 1,415.

- Summary: General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020-2023 Cadillac CT4 and CT5; 2021-2023 Buick Envision; and 2022-2023 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles. The daytime running lights (DRLs) may not deactivate when the headlights are on. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
- Consequence: DRLs that do not deactivate as intended may result in a glare, reducing visibility, and increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: The body control module software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 23, 2023. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is N222386380. I really enjoyed the white on parchment Envision Avenir! I was particularly impressed with all the advanced technology, including the 10.2 inch screen that was angled towards the driver, the rearview mirror that could become a video display, and the active cruise control and other hi-tech safety features that came as standard. As a GM stockholder, I was proud of the fit and finish. However, there were two issues that caused me to opt for a more expensive CUV. Firstly, the short front seats did not provide the thigh support I needed for my long trips to the Hamptons. Secondly, the dealers were not aware that the rear seats could not be lowered from the hatch area, which was a dealbreaker for me.

I purchased this car brand new six months ago and have been the sole owner since. Despite the low mileage of 30 miles at the time of purchase, the check engine light has illuminated on three separate occasions. The first instance was due to a fuel-related issue, which the company is actively working to resolve. Recently, the battery died and required a tow to the dealership. Although the battery was replaced, the check engine light remains on, rendering the auto start feature unusable. Despite the inconvenience of a cold car on a 6° day, I remain confident in the quality of this vehicle and trust that the dealership will resolve the issue promptly.

I've been to the dealer 5 times now and it turns out that I haven't been stepping on the brake every time I shift from reverse to drive. It's frustrating, but I'm going to trade it off.

I recently upgraded from an 18 grand Cherokee with 100k miles to a 22 envision aviner with only 12k miles. The car has a bumper to bumper warranty and a 7 100k warranty. The body has excellent fit and finish, making it a very nice car. However, I have experienced some issues with the transmission, as it is fair at best and I struggle to find gears. While the car is designed to keep noise out with a quiet interior, I have noticed some rattling and the panoramic roof can be quite noisy. Unfortunately, GM has been unhelpful in resolving these issues, claiming that it is my problem and my fault. Despite this, I am still looking forward to finding a solution and enjoying my new car. In the meantime, I have decided to purchase a cash car and return this one to the bank.

This is my first time buying a brand new vehicle and unfortunately, I'm feeling quite disappointed. I recently purchased a 2021 Buick Envision and while it's certainly a beautiful car, I've noticed some issues with the acceleration. It's difficult to predict whether it will hesitate or accelerate too quickly. As a grandmother who frequently drives with her grandchildren, this is a concerning issue. I want to feel safe on the road and not worry about potential accidents. I've read that others have experienced similar problems and I'm hoping that a solution can be found soon. Overall, I was hoping for a more dependable vehicle that I could count on for the long haul. I would rate it 3 stars at this point.

I'm glad you're enjoying the look and ride of the vehicle! However, it seems like there may be an issue with the doors as mud and snow collect in the one inch gap underneath. It can be quite a hassle to wash them out by hand every time. Have you considered bringing this up with the manufacturer or a mechanic to see if there's a solution?
