Common 1995 Chevrolet Chevrolet truck problems
Based on complaints from owners of the 1995 Chevrolet truck, here are some common problems reported:
- Hesitation and Stumbling at Specific RPM Range After Warmup:
- Owners have reported that the truck runs fine when cold but starts to hesitate or stumble around 1200 to 1800 RPM after warming up.
- Possible causes include low fuel pressure, a failing throttle position sensor, or issues with the base plates in the throttle body.
- Replacing the fuel pump, catalytic converter, distributor, and throttle position sensor have been solutions to address this problem.
- Coolant and Oil Leaks:
- V6 versions of the truck are prone to coolant leaks at the intake, leading to coolant dripping behind the water pump area.
- Coolant leaks can also cause coolant to seep into the engine oil, necessitating a resealing of the intake to prevent further damage.
- Fuel Level Sensor Issues:
- The fuel level sensor, located in the fuel tank, can cause erratic fuel gauge readings and inaccurate fuel level indications.
- Replacing the fuel level sensor involves removing the fuel tank, disconnecting various connections, and either supporting the tank or removing the bed for easier access.
- Engine Computer and PROM Chip Problems:
- Issues with the ECU and PROM chip can lead to performance issues and may require replacement.
- Replacing the ECU and PROM chip involves accessing the computer behind the glovebox, ensuring the correct replacement parts are used, and transferring the chip from the old unit to the new one.
- Upper Control Arm Rust and Corrosion:
- Rust and corrosion on the upper control arm can lead to handling and suspension problems.
- If the upper control arm is severely rusted, it may need to be replaced to maintain the structural integrity and safety of the vehicle.
These common problems reported by owners of the 1995 Chevrolet truck highlight the importance of regular maintenance, timely repairs, and using genuine replacement parts to ensure the longevity and performance of the vehicle.

SECONDLY, I SCHEDULED MY TRUCK FOR A VECHICLE RECALL ON A GAS TANK MOUNTING PROBLEM, LOST A 1/2 DAYS WORK DROPPING OFF AND PICKING UP. WHEN I PICKED UP TRUCK I HAD TO ASK WHAT THEY FOUND RELATIVE TO THE TANK AND WAS THEN TOLD, "WELL WE DIDN'T HAVE THE PARTS IN STOCK TO FIX IT." I ASKED TO BE CALLED WHEN PARTS CAME IN AND I STILL AM WAITING. I CALLED GM TO COMPLAIN AND WAS TOLD TO GO TO ANOTHER DEALER..THAT WAS THERE SOLUTION. THIS PROBLEM REMINDS ME ON THE ONE I HAD ON MY 1990 CHEV. DUALLY. THE PAINT WAS PEELING OFF THE TRUCK AND GM ADMITTED THAT THEY HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE PRIMER, I WAS DELAYED MONTH AFTER MONTH BY DON HEWLETT CHEV. IN GEORGETOWN TX IN SCHEDULING A RE-PAINT. WHEN I FINALLY INSISTED ON A DATE, I WAS TOLD GM NO LONGER COVERED THE DEFECT DUE TO TRUCKS AGE. GM WOULD NOT SUPPORT FIXING THE PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH IT HAD BE REPORTED WITHIN THE RECALL PERIOD. MY QUESTION IS HOW DO YOU GET THE MANUFACTURER'S AND THEIR DEALERS TO STANDBEHIND WHAT THEY CLAIM TO COVER????
