The Buick Envision is a compact crossover SUV manufactured by General Motors and marketed under the Buick brand since 2014. It is exclusively manufactured in China by the SAIC-GM joint venture, supplying the Chinese and North American markets.

Concept

The Envision was first introduced in 2011 as a design concept. It was a small crossover with two large scissor doors opening upward. The North American version of the Envision features two powertrains: a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 197 hp (147 kW) and 192 lb⋅ft (260 N⋅m) torque, and a turbo-charged 2-liter four-cylinder engine SAE certified at 252 hp (188 kW) and 260 lb⋅ft (353 N⋅m) torque. Both were initially paired with a third-generation six-speed transmission. For the 2016 model year, the Envision was only available in Premium I and Premium II trim levels, with the 2.0L turbo engine, seven active safety technologies, and OnStar/Intellilink connectivity. The trim levels expanded to five for the 2017 model year.

In addition to the larger engines offered in North America, Chinese buyers also have the option of a turbocharged 1.5-liter unit.

The mileage this occurred at is 26,175 miles. These tires are “rated” by Michelin for 60,000 miles. I say rated because they carry a 60,000 mile tread life warranty, in writing (and on their website) from Michelin, which they provide the vehicle manufacturer to be placed in the glovebox. The second page of fine print, however, states in the next to final bullet point, that the warranty does not apply to OEM tires provided on new vehicle purchases. After speaking with several dealerships, parts departments and stand alone tire stores (which sell this brand), they are all aware of not only this practice with Michelin, but knew which model of tire I was referring to, without me mentioning it. This HAS to be either misrepresentation by the tire manufacturer or a factory defect from the same. It has to be one or the other. There are no other options.

    The doors do not drain water unless they are opened. So, after a good rain, it's important to remember to open all four doors to let the water drain. Additionally, salt-laden water from road wash is getting into the doors without drainage. We're not sure of the rust implications or the potential for freezing/thawing and other electrical issues that may arise in winter.

    Seems nice at first, but I wanted to let you know that this car was made in China with 95% Chinese parts. If you're okay with that, then it might be a good fit for you. However, I would recommend getting the extended warranty just in case. Thank you for considering this car!

    No car is perfect, but this one comes pretty close. It has some great features like surround cameras and heads up display, and you can even disable the automatic engine shut off at every stop. While there are some downsides like the useless center console and shallow glove box, overall it's a great choice. The adaptive features have received mixed reviews, but the Buick does a good job of spotting the car ahead at slower speeds and slowing down accordingly. At faster speeds, it could slow down a bit faster, but it's still a great car. And as for the ugly? Well, we're still looking for that!

    I agree that the blind spot indicator on the side mirrors could be improved. Perhaps a beeping sound would be more noticeable than just a flash. It's also worth noting that the flash is the same color and location as the turn signal, which can be confusing. Additionally, the car requires premium gas, which can be a bit of a downside. On the bright side, I absolutely love the steering wheel warmer! It's a great feature that keeps my hands warm without having to blast warm air on my face. One minor issue I have is with the 'miles to empty' feature. While it's helpful to know how much gas is left, it would be more useful if it gave a more specific estimate instead of just saying 'LOW' when there's only 30 miles left. Overall, I'm pleased that many of the features I was looking for in the 2017 model are now available in the 2019 Essence, even without having to upgrade to the premium version.

    This SUV handles really well and is extremely quiet both in the city and on the highway. The interior is much better than any other 5-seater in its class. The touch controls and Bluetooth are great, and the extras that come with the Premium 1 model are just right. I was hesitant about getting the Premium 2 model with a $5,000 extra price tag. I test drove 14 other vehicles in this 5-seater class of SUV, and this one kept coming up on top. My wife drove it and was more or less sold after the first test drive, except for the one we drove did not have a turbo. Once we drove the turbo, the car sold itself. We have had the Envision for 6 months now and my wife loves it. It is so comfortable with a heated steering wheel and heated seats, which makes winter temperatures more bearable with the auto start feature that includes auto heating of seats based on outside temperatures. The Sirius XM is just like our previous vehicle we owned, but with a nice-sized touch screen. We were glad we drove all the SUVs in this class and within the same price range for a vehicle that we will keep for years to come. I was disappointed they went away from the bronze color in the 2020 model though. Our vehicle and specs were not easy to find in dealerships within the state of North Carolina. Just a reminder that a turbo is a must if you want the get-up-and-go, or if you are just driving a 4-cylinder SUV.
