2023 Bmw X2 problems
The BMW X2 is a line of subcompact luxury crossover SUVs produced by BMW since 2017. It was first showcased as the BMW Concept X2 at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, with a production version unveiled in October 2017. Sales commenced in March 2018. It is considered a sportier and less practical alternative to the X1, as is the case with other even-numbered X models with its respective counterparts, and is now in its second incarnation since 2023.
First generation (F39; 2017)
The X2 (model code F39) is based on the same front-wheel drive UKL2 architecture as the X1 and MINI Countryman, and features the same 2,670 mm (105.1 in) wheelbase length. The X2 is assembled in Regensburg, Germany and is produced alongside the X1. Being a part of BMW X family, the vehicle is also available with xDrive all-wheel drive on higher end models.
Both the sDrive28i and xDrive28i models are available in North American markets.
A plug-in hybrid variant, called the xDrive 25e, was unveiled in January 2020. In September 2020 BMW presented the special variant M Mesh Edition with a sporty look.
Production concluded on 11 October 2022, about 13 months prior to the launch of the next generation.

Common 2023 Bmw X2 problems
Based on complaints from owners of the BMW X2 2023, several common problems have been reported:
- Coolant Leaks: Owners have reported coolant leaks that can lead to engine damage, causing issues like engine stalling or steam coming from beneath the hood. This problem can be serious and requires immediate attention to prevent further damage to the engine.
- Timing Chain Issues: The X2 B47 2.0-liter turbo-diesel engine in the BMW X2 2023 can cause the vehicle's timing chain to stretch, potentially damaging the engine's rocker arms, valves, and cam carriers. Regular servicing is recommended to prevent this problem.
- Tire Wear: Some X2 models have hard sidewall tires that do not absorb road vibrations well, leading to loud tire noises. Uneven tire wear can result in a shaky steering wheel or the vehicle drifting to one side, indicating the need for regular wheel alignments.
- Rough Start: Owners have reported rough starts when initiating the vehicle, which could be due to defective spark plugs or issues with the electronic control unit (ECU). This issue can affect the vehicle's performance and should be addressed promptly.
- Infotainment System Problems: Complaints have been made about issues with the audio capabilities of the infotainment system, with reports of audio going out. This could be caused by faulty wiring or software glitches, impacting the overall driving experience.
- Suspension Noise: Some owners have experienced noise from the suspension, even on smooth roads, which can be disruptive and affect the driving comfort. Identifying and addressing the source of the suspension noise is crucial to maintain a smooth driving experience.
- Transmission Malfunctions: Strange smells from the transmission, along with vehicle shaking and vibrating, have been reported by X2 owners. These signs indicate potential transmission issues that, if left unaddressed, can significantly impact the vehicle's performance and safety.
These common problems reported by BMW X2 2023 owners highlight the importance of regular maintenance, prompt attention to issues, and thorough servicing to ensure the vehicle's optimal performance and longevity.

The size, gas mileage, options and ride are perfect. You mentioned that you did not want a 'BIG honking suv' but did want storage space and AWD, and it seems like you found the perfect fit! I'm so glad to hear that you love it.

I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying your car! It sounds like it's a great fit for you, with plenty of leg room and a smooth, quiet ride. I appreciate your comparison to other models you've test driven, and it's great to hear that the BMW xDrive 28i caught your eye with its awesome styling. If you're ever in the market for a compact SUV, I would definitely recommend giving the x2 a test drive as well - it's a well-designed option worth considering.

Don't let the 'experts' fool you. This car not only holds you tight, but it can also haul 600 lbs of feed and handle off-road terrain like a champ. Everything about this car is top-notch, from its sexy appearance to its practicality. It's the perfect all-in-one car!

Originally, I wanted the M2, but unfortunately, the price tag was too steep for my wife. After test driving the X1, X2, and X3, we decided to go with the X2. Since my wife already has a Pilot, we didn't need a big car. I was turning in a leased 428i Gran Couple with all the options, except for navigation. I absolutely loved the dynamic handling pack, especially in sport mode when the steering wheel tightens up and the dampers kick in on the suspension. I got a ticket in San Antonio because I couldn't resist rolling into the corners at 65mph on a 45mph road. My X2 has the xdrive, M Package, and M package X. I was disappointed to find out that dynamic handling was an additional charge on M Package and didn't realize until I saw standard suspension in my options, but sport mode is still better than comfort mode. The car has eye-catching looks and performs well on the road. The suspension can be jarring at times in any mode, and you feel the bumps assertively. I love the connected feature that allows me to turn on various items from my phone, such as flashing headlights, ventilating the car, honking the horn, locking the doors, etc. If the car is within your budget, I highly recommend it.

I love how it handles. It was my wife's car, and for me, the interior is a tad small, but for running around, it's great, especially in sports mode. It's actually an SAV, not an SUV.

The engine and transmission are definitely a big plus! However, the rear vision, stiff suspension, and height of the lift gate were a bit of a letdown for me...

I recently traded in my 2017 X1 with 76K miles for a 2020 X2 in 'Sunset Orange'. It's a sharp looking car with only 12,400 miles on the odometer, and I paid 28.5 K for it. After owning it for over 6 months, I can say that the X2 is a blast to drive with lots of pep. Although the ride is not the smoothest and there is some wind noise, the 'sport' seats are comfortable despite being narrow. As a taller and heavier person at 6' 3

The interior of the car is beautiful, but the brakes are too rigid. Even if you are a light breaker, you will experience neck inertia. Although the cargo area is deep, it is not wide enough and there are a couple of blind spots, which may take some time to check your surroundings. However, the body style is beautiful and the interior is luxurious, with interior color changing lights. The auto start/stop feature has a hard start that startles you and your passengers. I had to take my car in for repair (they called it a computer adjustment) three times in seven months, which was frustrating. Overall, I have had some issues with the car, but I am hopeful that they will be resolved soon.

The BMW X2 design caught our attention when my husband and I were considering leasing a mini-cooper. As they are part of the same group, we were taken to the BMW dealership to sign our contract. In June 2021, we walked across the showroom floor and saw the floor model X2. After a 5-minute test drive, we decided to upgrade to the luxury driving experience. However, we encountered some issues with the vehicle which proved to be disappointing. Despite having friends and family who have been driving BMWs for 40 years without any problems, we were given a floor model DEFECTIVE X2 with the check engine light on since our test drive. The salesperson assured us that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle and the light was on only because the car was on the sales floor and needed to be driven. Unfortunately, the check engine light remained on and the car generated sounds like a steamship horn-blower when moving in reverse, which made parallel parking a bit of a challenge. Despite our efforts to get the car serviced at the Freeport Dealership, we were unable to get a loaner vehicle. After some research, we discovered that the BMW Freeport Dealership was a franchise, which explained the grossly negligent sales and service standard. We decided to contact BMW Manhattan and BMW North America. Although it has been a year since we started driving this vehicle, which cost double the price of our original Mini Cooper lease, we are still disappointed with the experience. We expected a luxury driving experience when paying $700 for a BMW, but unfortunately, the opposite occurred. We hope that BMW will take our feedback into consideration and improve their sales and service standards. Not to mention the tires, I have had to bring the car in 5 times to replace them. I have leased VW and Mini for most of my life and have never had to bring any of my cars in as much as I have had to for this defective BMW X2.

Hey there! I noticed that BMW USA doesn't demo the X2's with advanced driver assist features. Is there a reason for that?
