2018 Bmw X2 problems
The BMW X2 is a line of subcompact luxury crossover SUVs produced by BMW since 2017. It was first showcased as the BMW Concept X2 at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, with a production version unveiled in October 2017. Sales commenced in March 2018. It is considered a sportier and less practical alternative to the X1, as is the case with other even-numbered X models with its respective counterparts, and is now in its second incarnation since 2023.
First generation (F39; 2017)
The X2 (model code F39) is based on the same front-wheel drive UKL2 architecture as the X1 and MINI Countryman, and features the same 2,670 mm (105.1 in) wheelbase length. The X2 is assembled in Regensburg, Germany and is produced alongside the X1. Being a part of BMW X family, the vehicle is also available with xDrive all-wheel drive on higher end models.
Both the sDrive28i and xDrive28i models are available in North American markets.
A plug-in hybrid variant, called the xDrive 25e, was unveiled in January 2020. In September 2020 BMW presented the special variant M Mesh Edition with a sporty look.
Production concluded on 11 October 2022, about 13 months prior to the launch of the next generation.

- Summary: My car started fire by itself. It was parked in front of my house. I drove 90 miles from my work in the same evening. I came home at 7:00pm, and since then my car was untouched. At 1:30am of the night, I heard something "pop" outside and it started making noise like something is on fire. And then I opened the window to find out my car is on fire. It was parked right in front of my house, the fire would move to my house anytime, but my neighbor called the police and fire station for me, and told me to get out of the house ASAP because it might explode. I was so panicked to grab my cats as I try to leave my house, and the police came right away, they started to water the rim of my house. The fire truck arrived in 15min or so, and it took about 30min to put the fire off. Thankfully, as it was right after that we noticed the fire, and the gas tank was almost empty, neither my house, myself, my family, my cats, and my neighbor were unharmed. Hawaii Police Department was there : Report #24-021263. My insurance company (GEICO) came and take a look, and they are taking care of it now. It is confirmed as "total loss". It has been showing the alert to check engine oil for about a week or so, but on the "vehicle status" screen, it was saying nothing was in immediate trouble. I even had made an oil-change appointment at the dealer on Mar 18th. I will upload some photos, but I have some videos of when the fire started also.

- Summary: I have had trouble with both my right and left taillight blinkers failing at various times. In the first instance, I took the car into BMW of Seattle to get a new bulb, but this did not fix the problem. After talking with the parts department, the man informed me that it might be an issue with the bulb socket. We tried replacing this but it still didn't work. The technician ended up scraping corrosion off of the contacts in the taillight assembly, which makes it work for a time, but then work either intermittently or not at all. I was told that the problem is due to metal connecting to plastic parts, which can become corroded and cause the electrical connection to fail. The parts person said that he had heard of this problem with the X2 models. BMW quoted me $1000 to replace each of the taillight units. I'm assuming if I spend $2000 to do both, this will just happen again. Please add this component to a recall list. Note: Both times the taillight warnings went off for each side, it was when the temperature had dropped in Seattle. They were cold days with a lot of moisture in the air. Possibly this problem is due to condensation leading to corrosion of the parts.

- Summary: The contact owned a 2018 BMW X2. The contact stated that while driving at 20-25 MPH, another vehicle crashed into the front of the vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. No warning lights were illuminated. As a result, the contact sustained an injury to the neck, back, chest, and left arm. Medical attention was required, and the ambulance was called to the scene. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot and deemed a total loss by the insurance company. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed of a callback. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.

As a first-time BMW owner, I was a bit hesitant to switch from my beloved 2012 Honda Pilot. However, I decided to take a chance and traded it in for a 2018 X2. While I've always dreamed of owning a white BMW 3-Series, I wanted something unique that fit my budget. Reliability is important to me since I often travel alone by car. At first, I struggled to adjust to the X2's size, but after 9 months of driving it, I've come to appreciate its pros and cons. On the plus side, it's a blast to drive, gets great gas mileage, has excellent maneuverability, and a smooth ride that makes highway driving a breeze. The only downside is the poor side visibility, which can be challenging for inexperienced drivers. However, I don't mind the lack of blind spot indicators since I've been driving for 35 years without them. Road noise isn't a big issue for me either since I usually listen to music while driving. Overall, I've learned that I prefer larger SUVs, but the X2 is a great introduction to the BMW brand. It's not as common as other models, which makes it feel more special. While I may upgrade to a more popular BMW in the future, for now, I'm enjoying every moment behind the wheel of my X2!

I love this BMW X2! It's equipped with the M sport package, which makes it a blast to drive. Although it has a plethora of options and electronic features, it may take me some time to learn how to use them all. It seems like the days of simply sitting, driving, and going are over! I'm excited for the years of enjoyment ahead!

I just purchased the X2 X Drive 28i. The SUV has sleek lines and great performance. Although the road noise is louder than my previous BMW 320i, I am very happy with the gold color and overall interior and exterior. The car has a lot of get up and go. I would definitely recommend this car!

I have mixed feelings about the 2018 BMW X2. While it is a BMW, it falls short of what BMWs are known for. The handling was mediocre, but it does have a sport mode that improves it slightly. I drove this car as a rental for a month and unfortunately, I was not satisfied with my experience. Although I am a big fan of BMW and have owned over a dozen, I must say that this SUV did not meet my expectations. The interior of the car was not up to the mark and the materials used were of poor quality. The fit and finish of the car were also not up to the standard. The driving dynamics were subpar and torque steer was frequent. I believe that there are many other small SUVs that provide better quality and utility at a lower price. However, I understand that everyone has different preferences and requirements when it comes to cars. Thank you for considering my opinion.
