Common 2020 Maserati Ghibli problems
The Maserati Ghibli, a 4-door executive luxury sedan that has been in production since 2013, is known for its powerful 3.0L V6 engine and 8-speed automatic transmission. However, like any other vehicle, the Ghibli has its share of common problems that have been reported by owners.
- Clutch problems: The Ghibli and Quattroporte models, including the 2020 version, have been reported to have clutch issues, particularly around the 12,000-mile mark. These problems can usually be resolved with a simple replacement, but the cost of repair on a Maserati can be high. Regular maintenance and timely replacement of clutch components can help prevent these issues.
- Gas mileages falling short: Maserati claims that the Ghibli can cover 40mpg, but many drivers have reported that this rating is rarely achievable. The actual gas mileage depends on the specific model, driving conditions, and maintenance history. Regular maintenance and adherence to the recommended service schedule can help ensure optimal gas mileage.
- Brakes: The Ghibli's brakes have been reported to require more frequent fluid replacement, which can affect the responsiveness and effectiveness of the brakes. Regular maintenance and timely replacement of brake components can help ensure the safety and reliability of the braking system.
- Recalls and defective parts: The Maserati Ghibli has had several recalls and issues with defective parts, including subframe welds that could fracture and cause serious accidents, fuel pipes that could leak and cause fires, and problems with the fuel line sensor that could crack and leak fuel. These issues have led to concerns about the reliability and quality of the Ghibli.
- High depreciation costs: The Maserati Ghibli is known for its high depreciation costs, with some models losing up to 78,188 over three years. This can significantly impact the resale value and overall cost of ownership of the vehicle.
- Expensive maintenance: The Maserati Ghibli requires expensive maintenance, with some owners reporting high costs for air filter replacements and other repairs. Regular maintenance and timely replacement of components can help prevent these issues and reduce the overall cost of ownership.
In conclusion, the Maserati Ghibli is a powerful and luxurious vehicle that has been reported to have several common problems, including issues with the clutch, gas mileage, brakes, recalls, high depreciation costs, and expensive maintenance. Regular maintenance and timely replacement of components can help prevent these issues and ensure the safety and reliability of the vehicle.

I absolutely adore this car! I even call it my Avacar (a nod to the movie Avatar) because it feels like an extension of myself. The handling is superb, and the engine sounds amazing in Sport mode. The acceleration is fantastic, especially from 0-60 and 60-90 mph, even on steep inclines. The control systems are user-friendly, except for the navigation which could use some improvement. Everything else is top-notch, easy to use, and can be controlled either on the large screen or manually. The front seats are spacious, and even at 6'-6

This car is fantastic! It embodies Italian chic, speed, and luxury, and is the perfect gentleman's sport sedan. While the lateral support on the front seats could be improved, they are still beautiful and comfortable. The leather dash is absolutely glorious, and the attention to detail is top-notch. The shifter has an unusual design that may take some getting used to, but it's worth it. This car turns heads everywhere it goes, and people always seem to want to race it. I've owned A7s, Mercedes-Benzes, Volkswagens, FIATs, and Alfa Romeos, and this car is definitely one of the best.

This is a fantastic car and a great alternative to a BMW 5. The engine is superb and the exhaust is amazing. The front is very comfortable, although the rear is a bit tight, but that's to be expected from a sports sedan. I did experience a few minor glitches, but they were quickly fixed during the yearly service. Speaking of which, the service can be a bit pricey as it is a Maserati, but it's worth it. I highly recommend this car.

Like probably many used car buyers, I was concerned there would be hidden issues with the car. However, I went to a Maserati dealer to have it checked, and they reassured me that the car is healthy and drives amazingly!

Beautiful car! It runs fantastic. The only drawback is that people are always asking me what kind of car it is or how fast I've gotten it up to.

The front seats are unfortunately uncomfortable, making it difficult to sit back without feeling discomfort. Back seat passengers may also find it challenging to enter and exit the vehicle, and the seats may not be the most comfortable for longer journeys. Despite attempts to address the issue with the corporate office, no solution has been found yet. However, I am hopeful that a resolution can be reached. In the meantime, I have decided to sell the car and explore other options. Perhaps in the future, I will consider investing in a higher-end vehicle.
