2016 Bmw 535d problems
The sixth generation of the BMW 5 Series consists of the BMW F10 (sedan version), F18 (long-wheelbase sedan), BMW F11 (wagon, marketed as Touring) and BMW F07 (fastback/hatchback, marketed as Gran Turismo) executive cars and were produced by BMW from January 2010 (for the 2011 model year) to 2017, with F10 being launched on 20 March 2010 to domestic market and F11 in the summer of 2010. The F07 Gran Turismo was produced from early September 2009 to 2017, being launched in the domestic German market in late October 2009.
The F10 5 Series shares a platform with the F01 7 Series full-size luxury sedan and the F12 6 Series executive-sized grand tourers. The F10 generation is the first 5 Series to offer a hybrid drivetrain, a turbocharged V8 engine, an 8-speed automatic transmission, a dual-clutch transmission (in the M5), active rear-wheel steering (called "Integral Active Steering"), electric power steering, double-wishbone front suspension, an LCD instrument cluster (called "Black Panel Display") and automatic parking (called "Parking Assistant"). A long-wheelbase sedan version (model code F18) was sold in China, Mexico, Turkey and the Middle East. Introduced in 2011, the M5 model is powered by the BMW S63 twin-turbocharged V8 engine coupled to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. The Gran Turismo (F07) is the first and only 5 Series to be produced in a fastback body style with a hatchback truck opening.
In February 2017, the G30 5 Series was released as the successor to the F10. G32 6 Series Gran Turismo (based on the G30 platform) succeeded the F07.

Common 2016 Bmw 535d problems
The BMW 535d, like any car, has its share of common problems that owners have reported. Here are some of the most frequently mentioned issues:
- Air suspension compressor hose failure: The air suspension system in the BMW 535d uses compressed air to adjust the ride height and improve handling. If the air suspension compressor hose fails, the system may lose pressure and the car may sag or ride roughly. Replacing the hose can be a more involved repair, but it's necessary to maintain the car's performance and handling.
- Drivetrain failure: Some owners have reported issues with the drivetrain, including driveshaft or axle, CV joint, differential, transfer case, four-wheel-drive/all-wheel-drive components, driveline vibration, electrical failure, traction control, and electronic stability control. These issues can lead to a complete breakdown of the car, making it difficult or impossible to drive. In some cases, the dealership has charged over $600 to fix the problem, highlighting the importance of regular maintenance and inspections to prevent these issues.
- Fuel pump failure: The fuel pump is responsible for delivering fuel to the engine. If it fails, the car may not start or may stall while driving. This can be a major inconvenience, especially if it happens while driving on the highway. Replacing the fuel pump can be a more expensive repair, but it's necessary to get the car back on the road.
- Carbon buildup: Diesel engines, like the one in the BMW 535d, are prone to carbon buildup. This can lead to decreased performance and fuel efficiency, as well as increased emissions. Regular maintenance and cleaning can help prevent this issue, but it may require more extensive repairs if it's not addressed promptly.
Overall, the BMW 535d is a reliable and well-built car, but like any car, it's important to stay on top of maintenance and address any issues promptly. Regular oil changes, tire rotations, and brake pad replacements can help prevent many common problems, and regular inspections can help catch any issues before they become major repairs. If you're considering buying a BMW 535d, it's important to do your research and be aware of these common problems, but don't let them deter you from enjoying the car's many benefits.

2016 Bmw 535d recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 5 recalls for different components of the 2016 Bmw 535d.
- Manufacturer: BMW of North America, LLC
- Components: FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL
- Summary: BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2013-2018 328d, 328d xDrive, 2014-2018 328d Sports Wagon, 328d xDrive Sports Wagon, 2014-2016 535d, 535d xDrive, 2015 740Ld xDrive, 2015-2017 X3 xDrive28d SAV, and 2014-2017 X5 xDrive35d SAV diesel vehicles equipped with an Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) module with an integrated cooler. The EGR cooler may leak internally, causing coolant to mix with diesel engine soot, which could result in smoldering particles and a melting intake manifold.
- Consequence: A melting intake manifold increases the risk of a fire.
- Remedy: Dealers will replace the EGR cooler and inspect the intake manifold, replacing it as necessary, free of charge. This recall includes all vehicles previously recalled under 18V-755. Vehicles previously recalled under 18V-755 will need to have the new remedy performed for this recall. An interim owner notification letter was mailed on January 18, 2022. The remedy is expected to be available in June 2022. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 6, 2022. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
- Manufacturer: BMW of North America, LLC
- Components: FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP

- Consequence: Fuel pump failure can cause an engine stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Dealers will replace the high-pressure fuel pump, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on January 14, 2022. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
- Manufacturer: BMW of North America, LLC
- Components: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:EMISSION CONTROL:GAS RECIRCULATION VALVE (EGR VALVE)
- Summary: BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2013-2018 BMW 328d and 328d xDrive, 2014-2018 328d Sports Wagon and 328d xDrive Sports Wagon, 2014-2016 535d and 535d xDrive, 2015 740Ld xDrive, 2015-2017 X3 xDrive28d SAV and 2014-2017 X5 xDrive35d SAV vehicles equipped with an Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) module with an integrated cooler. If the EGR cooler leaks internally, the coolant can mix with diesel engine soot. The high EGR temperatures may result in these particles possibly smoldering and melting the intake manifold.
- Consequence: The melting intake manifold can increase the risk of a fire.
- Remedy: BMW will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the EGR cooler as necessary. If a leak has already occurred, the engine intake manifold will also be replaced. These repairs will be made free of charge. The recall began May 13, 2019. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
