1995 Ford F-350 problems
The Ford Super Duty (also known as the Ford F-Series Super Duty) is a series of heavy-duty pickup trucks produced by the Ford Motor Company since the 1999 model year. Slotted above the consumer-oriented Ford F-150, the Super Duty trucks are an expansion of the Ford F-Series range, from F-250 to the F-600. The F-250 through F-450 are offered as pickup trucks, while the F-350 through F-600 are offered as chassis cabs.
Rather than adapting the lighter-duty F-150 truck for heavier use, Super Duty trucks have been designed as a dedicated variant of the Ford F-Series. The heavier-duty chassis components allow for heavier payloads and towing capabilities. With a GVWR over 8,500 lb (3,900 kg), Super Duty pickups are Class 2 and 3 trucks, while chassis-cab trucks are offered in Classes 3, 4, 5, and 6. The model line also offers Ford Power Stroke V8 diesel engines as an option.
Ford also offers a medium-duty version of the F-Series (F-650 and F-750), which is sometimes branded as the Super Duty, but is another chassis variant. The Super Duty pickup truck also served as the basis for the Ford Excursion full-sized SUV.
The Super Duty trucks and chassis-cabs are assembled at the Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, Kentucky, and at Ohio Assembly in Avon Lake, Ohio. Prior to 2016, medium-duty trucks were assembled in Mexico under the Blue Diamond Truck joint venture with Navistar International.

Common 1995 Ford F-350 problems
Common Problems with the 1995 Ford F-350:
- Loss of Power and Low RPMs: The owner reports that the engine loses power and has low RPMs, even when the pedal is pressed down while in gear. This could be due to a clogged fuel filter, a faulty fuel pump, or a problem with the engine's air intake system.
- Car Dies at Red Lights and Surges: The owner reports that the car dies at red lights if it sits for too long and surges shortly after the RPMs reach 2 on the tachometer. This could be due to a problem with the fuel system, such as a clogged fuel filter or a faulty fuel pump, or a problem with the transmission, such as a worn clutch or a faulty shift solenoid.
- Clicking Noise in Fuse Box and Engine Bay: The owner reports a clicking noise in the fuse box and a flickering click noise on the passenger side of the engine bay. This could be due to a faulty relay or a bad connection in the electrical system.
- Squealing Noise from Fuel Pump: The owner reports a loud and high-pitched squealing noise from the fuel pump when trying to start the truck. This could be due to a faulty fuel pump or a problem with the starter motor.
- Excessive Oil: The owner asks if too much oil could cause a loss of power. While excessive oil can cause problems in some cases, it is unlikely to cause the specific issues reported here.
These are some of the common problems reported by owners of the 1995 Ford F-350. While some of these issues can be resolved with simple maintenance tasks, others may require more extensive repairs or replacement of parts. It is important to diagnose the problem accurately before attempting any repairs.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2014-02-18
- Fire: 1
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
- Summary: ON FEBRUARY 18, 2014, AT APPROXIMATELY 10 AM, I WAS MOVING OUR 1995 FORD F-350 TO PARK IT AT A FRIENDS HOUSE, THE TRUCK STARTED LOSING POWER, I SMELLED AN ELECTRICAL SMELL & SMOKE STARTED COMING FROM THE DASHBOARD, I JUMPED OUT OF THE TRUCK & OPENED THE HOOD & THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS IN FLAMES, I IMMEDIATELY DIALED 911 & CONNECTED TO OUR LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT, THEY ARRIVED WITHIN MINUTES BUT THE FRONT HALF OF THE TRUCK WAS TOTALLY DESTROYED, I WAS NOT AWARE OF THE RECALL ON THESE TRUCKS UNTIL A MECHANIC FRIEND HEARD ABOUT MY TRUCK CATCHING FIRE & TOLD ME ABOUT THE PROBLEM WITH THEM. *TR
SUSPENSION PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2012-03-05
- VIN: 1FTJW36F1SE
- Components: SUSPENSION
- Summary: THIS IS REGARDING INABILITY OF AN AUTHORIZED FORD DEALER (GENTRY FORD - BAKER CITY, OREGON) TO INSPECT AND DETECT A BALL JOINT PROBLEM WHICH WOULD BE EASILY DETECTABLE IN MOST VEHICLES. MY CONCERN IS THAT IMPENDING BALL JOINT FAILURE FOR THIS PARTICULAR YEAR/MODEL MAY BE UNDETECTABLE IN SOME INSTANCES EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN THOROUGHLY INSPECTED BY AN AUTHORIZED FORD DEALER SUCH AS GENTRY FORD. PRIOR TO PURCHASE OF THIS VEHICLE, I TEST DROVE IT. DURING THE SHORT TEST DRIVE I HAD NOT NOTICED ANY SYMPTOMS OF LOOSE BALL JOINTS ALTHOUGH I DID NOTICE SOME WANDERING ON THE FREEWAY BUT ATTRIBUTED IT TO LOCAL ROAD CONDITIONS. WHILE DRIVING HOME ON THE FREEWAY I NOTICED THE WANDERING STEERING WAS PRESENT BUT ATTRIBUTED IT TO VARYING ROAD CONDITIONS. HALFWAY HOME, SOME SHARP TURNS AT SLOW SPEEDS CAUSED BINDING DURING THE TURN. FINALLY, AFTER ARRIVING HOME AND MAKING A 90 DEGREE TURN UPHILL INTO MY DRIVEWAY (1-2 MPH) I REALLY NOTICED THE SEVERITY OF THE BALL JOINT CONDITION. NOT SURE WHAT WAS HAPPENING I TOOK THE TRUCK TO A DIFFERENT LOCAL FORD DEALER WITH A REQUEST TO INSPECT THE FRONT SUSPENSION FOR ANY ADVERSE CONDITIONS. THEIR REPORT REVEALED THAT THE RIGHT FRONT BALL JOINTS WERE LOOSE AND THEIR VEHICLE INSPECTION REPORT REFLECTED THAT THE SUSPENSION WAS UNSAFE AND NEEDED IMMEDIATE ATTENTION (RED). THE GENTRY FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT, WAS APPARENTLY UNABLE TO DETECT ANY PROBLEM(S) WITH THE FRONT SUSPENSION ACCORDING TO THE VEHICLE SAFETY INSPECTION REPORT DONE ON THE TRUCK 4 DAYS PRIOR TO PURCHASE AND HAD CHECKED THE SUSPENSION BLOCK AS (GREEN) INCORRECTLY SHOWING IT WAS SAFE. MY MAIN CONCERN IS THAT NOT ALL FORD DEALERS MAY BE ABLE TO DETECT AN UNSAFE BALL JOINT CONDITION WHICH MAY REQUIRE A TSB TO INSURE DETECTION OF UNSAFE BALL JOINT CONDITIONS DURING NORMAL SAFETY INSPECTIONS.

STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2001-09-07
- VIN: 1FTJW36F5SE
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: WHILE DRIVING IN NEW MEXICO IN SEPTEMBER 2001 I EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING. CONTINUING FOR APPROXIMATELY AN ADDITIONAL 1/2 MILE I PULLED OVER AND CHECKED THE POWER STEERING AREA. THE HIGH PRESSURE HOSE END CONNECTED TO THE POWERSTEERING PUMP HAD SEPARATED FROM THE FITTING IN THE PUMP. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION I FOUND THAT THE END THAT SEPARATED USED AN INTERNAL SNAP RING ALLOWING THE METAL LINE TO SEPARATE FROM THE PUMP. THE OTHER END OF THE LINE WAS A STANDARD HIGH PRESSURE HYDRAULIC FLARE FITTING COMMON TO BRAKE LINES AND OBVIOUSLY FAR SUPERIOR IN DESIGN TO THE FAILED END. THERE IS A SEGMENT OF HIGH PRESSURE OF HIGH PRESSURE HOSE SO THE REASON FOR THIS INFERIOR TYPE OF CONNECTOR IS UNCLEAR AND UNSATISFACTORY. CONTACTING FORD PROVIDED NO SATISFACTION AND NO ANSWERS. FOUR FORD DEALERS HAVE BEEN CONTACTED AND ALL ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE PROBLEM. CONTACTED FORD DIRECT AND THEY SAID CONTACT THE DEALER. I HAVE THE FAILED HOSE AND A SOLUTION - PLEASE CONTACT ME. I PLAN TO CHANGE THIS REGARDLESS OF ANY OUTSIDE ASSISTANCE OR COOPERATION. THE LOCAL TV STATION ALREADY DID A PIECE ON THIS EVENT LAST WEEK AND I'M GETTING THUMBS UP FOR PURSUING THIS. LET'S GET SOMETHING DONE. THIS IS TOTALLY UNSAFE AND THERE IS AN OBVIOUS AND INEXPENSIVE CURE.*AK

That 460 has a lot of power. It can easily outperform a Chevy or a Dodge any day.

Your Ford F-350 sounds like it was a real workhorse! Even with 495,000 miles on the clock, it still managed to pull anything, even another truck stuck in the mud. It's a shame to hear that it finally gave up the ghost with a blown head gasket and failed transmission, but it sounds like it served you well. I can understand why you miss it!
-
I must say, this is the best truck I have ever owned. I was involved in a head-on collision with a full-size Chevy van at 70mph, but the truck held up incredibly well. Despite the impact, the engine was not even touched, and I walked away completely unhurt. I am definitely planning on purchasing another F350 Dually Diesel in the future. Additionally, the fuel economy was fantastic - I was getting between 19-23 miles per gallon on the highway when empty, and 12-15 miles per gallon with a loaded 4 car trailer. As I have told others, this is the only truck worth buying. Best regards, Mark.
-
This is a great truck! It's very reliable, clean, and looks and runs excellent. It has been well maintained.
-
I have no complaints about my truck. It has been a reliable workhorse, with 318k miles on the clock before I had to swap out the motor. Even when it lost three cylinders, it kept going. I have pushed this truck to its limits, and it has never let me down. I will never sell it, even though parts are becoming harder to find. While I suspect the steering column will be the next big job, I know that nobody builds trucks like this anymore. Not even Ford.

Hello! I noticed that your truck has a 7.3L Navistar Diesel Non-Turbo engine. While it's a great crew cab, I wanted to let you know that this engine has had some issues in the past. Unfortunately, there is a known problem with pinholes developing in the cylinder walls, which can cause engine coolant to enter the cylinder and result in a major repair expense. Additionally, this engine may not be the best choice for hauling heavy loads. I hope this information is helpful!
