- Summary: In 2020, Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. extended the warranty on its transfer case for 2011 - 2018 Porsche Cayenne and Macan models. This was in response to what one article described as “[m]any Porsche Cayenne and Macan owners have experienced recurring problems with their 4wd transfer case. We have the issues and the symptoms, such as vibrations under acceleration, highlighted in our common problems section.” Porsche and Audi share vehicle architecture for SUV models. In an April 2017 press release, Porsche touted the fact that Audi and Porsche share architecture with respect to the two brands’ SUVs noting “Audi, VW and Porsche have worked together successfully for many years in the area of SUVs, and with the new development cooperation, Porsche and Audi are positioning themselves for the next decade. In the coming months, joint teams will prepare the specific areas of cooperation and define the roadmap as far as 2025. The focus is on the joint development of shared vehicle architectures, modules and components.” My 2018 Audi experiences a “jerk” during gear shifts feeling like an interruption during acceleration with a slight vibration. This jerky shifting is especially prominent when driving uphill. The issue persists today despite two service professionals trying to diagnose and correct the issue. I cannot speak to the safety risks this issue may present to myself and my passengers other than to say the “jerking” and surprise hard-shift may cause passengers to react in an unsafe manner when traveling at high-speeds. I am submitting this matter as I believe the issue that existed with the Porsche SUVs that motivated Volkswagen, i.e., the Parent Company’s, decision to extend the transfer case warranty, exists with the same model year Audis and may present a safety risk. More Audi’s exist than Porsche models making it more expensive for Volkswagen to correct this for Audi. Correcting this for only high-end models and not lower-end is worth reviewing.

- Summary: My daughter was driving with her brother and a friend and stopped at an intersection on red signal. The car stopped and would not start. Definitely the safety of the passengers and the people behind were put at risk because of stalled car due to engine failure at a busy intersection. Check engine light was on few days before and diagnosed to be a failure of a sensor by an independent service center and was waiting to get the part. After the incident the car was towed to the dealership and they have diagnosed to be low engine compression and needs engine replacement.

- Summary: The contact owns a 2018 Audi Q3 equipped with Continental tires, Tire Line: ContiproContact, Tire Size: P225/40R/19, DOT Number: AF5WWA46 1717. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 MPH, the tire pressure monitor indicated that the driver’s side rear tire pressure was low. The contact also had heard a humming noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. The contact pulled off the road into a service station and noticed that the rear driver’s side tire only had 20 PSI. The contact inflated the tire to 35 PSI and continued to his destination. The vehicle was taken to a tire dealer who reported that while dismounting the tire, the inner sidewall had a 3-inch gash large enough that the technician could fit his hand through the gash. The tire was replaced. The passenger’s side rear tire was inspected and showed a 10-inch gash that had separated from the inner sidewall. The tire was also replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate vehicle failure mileage was 33,000. The tire failure mileage was unknown.

- Summary: CPO with 20k miles that I bought back on August 25, 2021 from Audi. It is equipped with push/start. Vehicle won't start. I have tried to use both key-fob with fresh brand new battery. Did not work I even checked to see if the battery was good. Still it won't start. I ran my scanner got a U0101 Loss communication to TCM (Transmission Control Module). I had Audi came with a flat bed to pick up the vehicle on January 24, 2022 (Vehicle have around 26k miles). Just Last Friday February 4, 2022 Audi dealership in Rockville, Maryland text my wife said they need to get in contact with the Audi in Germany. This whole time they DID NOT get us a loaner or a rental to use. It's hard to communicate with the service provider.

- Summary: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Audi) is recalling certain 2016-2018 Audi Q3 vehicles equipped with LED headlights. An inoperable front turn signal may not illuminate an indicator, failing to alert the driver to the issue. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
- Consequence: Without an indicator informing the driver of an inoperable turn signal, the driver may turn or change lanes without a signal, increasing the risk of crash.
- Remedy: Audi will notify owners, and dealers will update the body control module (BCM), free of charge. The recall began June 21, 2019. Owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Audi's number for this recall is 97DK.

My wife just got her 2nd Q3 and she loves it! Compared to other small SUVs, this car is absolutely fantastic. The Audi Quattro makes it drive better than its competitors. I also drive a Quattro Audi and it handles the road really well, even without snow. One of the best things about the Q3 is that it listens to the driver. If you try the x3, x1, or Lexus RX, you'll find that they have a mind of their own. We got an amazing deal on our premium plus with the sport plus trim thanks to Edmunds forums. It looks even nicer than stock! We absolutely love our Audis and will continue to drive them as long as we can afford to. If we can't, we'll switch to VW.

I am confident in my assessment that the Audi is a great car. Although the back seat may be a bit tight with an infant car seat, it is still a compact and ideal car for those without kids or those who do not take frequent family vacations. However, it may not be the best option for a road trip with multiple passengers. Despite the AC compressor issue that I experienced, which cost around $2,500 to fix, I have maintained the car as recommended and have put the average yearly miles on it. I am now choosing to sell it to avoid any further potential issues.

I recently purchased a 2017 Audi Q3 and unfortunately experienced some issues with the engine after driving it for just under 300 miles. My wife was driving home from work when the car began to shake uncontrollably, causing her to pull over to the side of the road. Thankfully, she was not on the highway at the time. The car was towed to the dealership for repairs, and while the situation was certainly frustrating, I must say that the dealership was helpful and apologetic throughout the process. Although this experience was not ideal, I am still a fan of the car's sleek design and am confident that the issue will be resolved.

I have owned the car for two years since it was new and I am very satisfied with it. Recently, the engine management light came on, and despite three visits to the main dealer, the issue has not been resolved. The car has been with the dealer for three weeks, and they have yet to identify the problem. The car is a TFSI S line petrol model with only 13,000 miles on it.

I recently purchased a brand new car and have only driven it for about 500 miles. Unfortunately, during my last drive, the car unexpectedly started to shake and then flameout. I tried to restart the car, but the engine light turned on, so I had to pull over to the side of the road. I plan to ask for road assistance to tow it to the dealer next week. Although the Q3 is a beautiful car both inside and out, I am now regretting my purchase due to these issues. I am concerned about the safety and reliability of the car, especially if this were to happen on the highway. I'm really struggling with the visibility in this car, especially as I'm not very tall. I haven't had much chance to drive it yet, but I'm feeling pretty unhappy with it so far. Unfortunately, I'm stuck with it for another year or they'll charge me even more money.

During my recent vacation, I had the opportunity to drive a 2018 Audi Q3 for 10 days. Although the car had 8K miles and appeared to be of decent initial quality, I found it difficult to use and far inferior to my 2013 Subaru Outback 2.5i Limited in almost every way. The sunroof button had 5 positions, two of which did nothing and the remaining three did not consistently work. The buttons on the steering wheel were hardly useful, controlling hardly any of the media electronics. The instrument panel had the speedometer, cruise control or a few other options in at least two locations, but there was no indicator for headlights. The interior door locks didn't work with the key removed. The keyfob unlock button wouldn't consistently unlock all doors, wouldn't unlock the rear hatch without using the actual trunk unlock button, and the car would relock shortly after unlocking making unlocking the car from a distance and then walking to the car without the keys frustrating as the doors would relock before reaching the car. The turning radius was not great for a car so small. The braking system was extremely sensitive and while braking normally the vehicle would sporadically brake harder a few seconds into slowing the vehicle. The cockpit was a tight fit for me, being an extremely average 5'9The climate control in the Audi Q3 was not working when we tried to adjust the settings, but it started working normally a few hours after we reached our destination. Although the car's engine has decent power considering its small size, there is no way it was getting the 40-MPG that the trip computer was telling me. Overall, I feel that the basic front-wheel-drive Audi Q3 is not a good value compared to a similarly priced, fully-loaded all-wheel-drive Outback. The Audi felt cheap compared to the Subaru, and I was extremely disappointed with the lack of quality. Although Audi is generally referred to as a high-quality, luxury brand, the Q3 did not live up to my expectations. While I was not considering purchasing a brand of vehicle other than Subaru, if I were, Audi would not be an alternative brand I would look at.
