MY CAR IS 9 YEARS OLD AND I ALSO READ ON YOUR WEBSITE THAT THE RISK OF DETONATION INCREASES WITH AGE. MY CAR SHOULD BE A PRIORITY.

- Summary: TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 AUDI A6. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED IN THE DRIVEWAY, A WOBBLING SOUND WAS HEARD. THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY AND SMOKE EMERGED FROM THE TAIL PIPE. ALSO, THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE STARTED TO RISE AND OIL STARTED TO FLOW BACKWARDS TO THE TOP RESERVOIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF. THE DEALER (AUDI BEDFORD IN BEDFORD, OHIO) HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THEIR FACILITY FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE WAS WORKING TO STANDARDS. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE ENTIRE ORIGINAL ENGINE WAS REPLACED IN SEPTEMBER OF 2010. AFTER THE REPAIR, THE VEHICLE STARTED HESITATING WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, AND WOULD EVEN STALL AT TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND REFUSED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE AGAIN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 4 recalls for different components of the 2008 Audi A6.

(Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2005-2008 Audi A4 Sedan, A4 Avant, S4 Avant and S4 Sedan, 2007-2008 RS4 Sedan, 2004 RS4 Cabriolet, 2007-2009 A4 Cabriolet and S4 Cabriolet, 2005-2011 A6 Sedan, 2006-2011 A6 Avant, and 2007-2011 S6 Sedan vehicles. These vehicles are equipped with certain air bag inflators assembled as part of the passenger frontal air bag modules used as original equipment or replacement equipment. In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the passenger frontal air bag, these inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to absolute humidity and temperature cycling.
- Consequence: An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
- Remedy: Audi has notified owners, and dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag with an alternate remedy part, free of charge. The recall began June 29, 2018. Owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 69R7. Note: This recall supersedes recalls 16V382, 17V032 and 18V004 and includes vehicles that may have had their air bag previously replaced under one of those campaigns.

- Summary: ON CERTAIN PASSENGER AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, THE AUTOMATIC REAR LID INCLUDES AN ELECTRIC MOTOR AND CLUTCH THAT WORK IN CONJUNCTION WITH TWO GAS STRUTS TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE REAR LID, INCLUDING A MANUAL CLOSE FUNCTION. IF ONE OF THE STRUTS HAS A TOTAL LOSS OF PRESSURE, THE RESULTANT SLOW MOVEMENT OF THE REAR LID IS INTERPRETED BY THE SOFTWARE AS AN INTENDED MANUAL CLOSE AND THE MOTOR CLUTCH RELEASES TO CLOSE THE REAR LID IMMEDIATELY.
- Consequence: THIS CAN RESULT IN AN UNINTENDED RAPID CLOSING OF THE REAR LID WITH A RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL NEW SOFTWARE FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON SEPTEMBER 14, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT AUDI AT 1-800-822-2834.

From the outside to the inside, the A6 has beautiful features. The interior is plush and comfortable. The seat positions take you from a sports car feel to an executive luxury car. The MMI & sound system is fantastic, although it would be even better if the iPod integration was voice activated. It may take a few days to master, but once understood, the MMI is easy to operate.

3rd Audi, and I'm extremely happy with how the design has matured. The cornering is smooth, the pick up is great, the cabin is quiet, the start up process is buttery, and the controls are intuitive.

I looked at all the cars that could possibly fit my criteria and finally settled on the A6. Although this car is fantastic in so many ways, I have noticed that it lacks road feel and has poor weight distribution which can be unsettling. I believe that the car could have been built with better handling characteristics. Interestingly, my daughter's '06 Accord has much better road feel and handling characteristics than this car. I would even go so far as to say that this car can be quite dangerous if you try to drive it on a curvy road at high speed. The V8 is too powerful for the poor handling. Overall, I am a bit disappointed and wish I had gone with the BMW instead.

I love the exterior's classy lines and the beautiful interior. The Bose sound system and iPod integration are fantastic! However, I'm still unsure about the handling. The car seems to have a lot of play in the steering and very poor weight distribution. Additionally, I find the car to have poor visibility. The Navigation System and Blue Tooth leave a lot to be desired. German car engineers could learn a lot from Japanese technology. The S line looks great with its wider tires, but the seats are very stiff. All in all, the car feels very solid and luxurious.

The A6 boasts a beautiful design both inside and out, and offers a great driving experience. While some issues have arisen, such as the need to replace the #5 cylinder coil at 9k miles and carbon buildup causing the check engine light to come on at 10k miles, these were promptly addressed and resolved through reprogramming the on-board computer. Additionally, it is worth noting that Audi's do require regular oil top-ups, but this is a minor inconvenience for the pleasure of driving such a high-quality vehicle. Finally, some creaking in the front suspension has been noticed on rough roads, but this is being addressed. Overall, the A6 is a fantastic car that offers a great driving experience and is well worth considering.
