1998 Ford F-350 problems
The Ford Super Duty (also known as the Ford F-Series Super Duty) is a series of heavy-duty pickup trucks produced by the Ford Motor Company since the 1999 model year. Slotted above the consumer-oriented Ford F-150, the Super Duty trucks are an expansion of the Ford F-Series range, from F-250 to the F-600. The F-250 through F-450 are offered as pickup trucks, while the F-350 through F-600 are offered as chassis cabs.
Rather than adapting the lighter-duty F-150 truck for heavier use, Super Duty trucks have been designed as a dedicated variant of the Ford F-Series. The heavier-duty chassis components allow for heavier payloads and towing capabilities. With a GVWR over 8,500 lb (3,900 kg), Super Duty pickups are Class 2 and 3 trucks, while chassis-cab trucks are offered in Classes 3, 4, 5, and 6. The model line also offers Ford Power Stroke V8 diesel engines as an option.
Ford also offers a medium-duty version of the F-Series (F-650 and F-750), which is sometimes branded as the Super Duty, but is another chassis variant. The Super Duty pickup truck also served as the basis for the Ford Excursion full-sized SUV.
The Super Duty trucks and chassis-cabs are assembled at the Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, Kentucky, and at Ohio Assembly in Avon Lake, Ohio. Prior to 2016, medium-duty trucks were assembled in Mexico under the Blue Diamond Truck joint venture with Navistar International.

Common 1998 Ford F-350 problems
The Ford F-350 1998 has been reported to have several common problems based on complaints from owners. These problems span across various components such as equipment, electrical, fuel system, lighting, tires, brakes, engine, seats, transmission, structure, air bags, steering, visibility, doors, and frame.
One of the common issues is with the engine. The 7.3 Powerstroke diesel engine, which was used in the Ford F-350 1998, has been reported to have numerous sensor and valve issues. For instance, a common problem is the engine not starting due to a lack of power, which could be caused by a faulty sensor or valve. Another issue is the engine stalling or running poorly at high speeds due to fuel delivery problems. This could be due to a clogged fuel filter, a faulty fuel pump, or issues with the high-pressure oil pump (HPOP).
Another common issue is with the transmission. The 4R100 and 5R110W transmissions used in the Ford F-350 1998 have been reported to have problems with shifting, slipping, and failing. These issues can be caused by worn-out gears, a faulty torque converter, or problems with the transmission's internal hydraulic system. In some cases, the transmission may need to be rebuilt or replaced entirely.
The fuel system is also a common problem area in the Ford F-350 1998. Fuel delivery problems can cause the engine to stall or run poorly, and can be caused by a clogged fuel filter, a faulty fuel pump, or issues with the high-pressure oil pump (HPOP). In some cases, the fuel tank may need to be drained and cleaned to remove any debris or contaminants that may be causing the problem.
The brakes are another common problem area in the Ford F-350 1998. Brake problems can be caused by worn-out brake pads, a faulty brake master cylinder, or issues with the brake lines or hydraulic system. In some cases, the brake rotors may need to be resurfaced or replaced entirely.
Finally, the seats have also been reported to be a problem area in the Ford F-350 1998. Some owners have reported issues with the seat adjustment mechanism, which can make it difficult to find a comfortable driving position. In some cases, the seat may need to be replaced entirely.
In summary, the Ford F-350 1998 has several common problems that owners have reported. These issues span across various components such as engine, transmission, fuel system, brakes, and seats. It is important for owners to regularly maintain their vehicles and address any issues as soon as they arise to prevent further damage and ensure the safety of the vehicle.
