2017 Acura Ilx problems
The Acura ILX is a compact car (C-segment) manufactured and marketed by Honda under the Acura brand, based on the ninth-generation Civic sedan. The ILX replaced the Canadian market exclusive Acura CSX. The gasoline-electric hybrid version was Acura's first.
Overview
The concept version was unveiled at the 2012 North American International Auto Show, the production version was presented in the 2012 Chicago Auto Show. The ILX introduces a new design that Acura calls "aero-fused dynamics". Mass production commenced on April 23 at Honda's assembly facility in Greensburg, Indiana and U.S. sales began on May 22.
The ILX's body in white uses 59% high strength steel ranging from 440-980 MPa yield strength grades, aluminum is used for the hood and front bumper beam. Compared to the Civic, the ILX uses Acura's "Amplitude Reactive" dampers and a larger more rigid steering shaft for improved handling and ride quality characteristics.
Options are grouped into Premium and Technology packages and include leather upholstery, 17" alloy wheels, navigation system, premium audio system with SiriusXM satellite radio, and high intensity discharge headlamps. Both option packages include a multi-view rear backup camera with regular, wide-angle, and top-down modes.
For the 2014 model year the ILX came standard with 17-inch wheels, leather interior, heated front seats, an eight-way power driver's seat, tri-angle backup camera and audio subwoofer with Active Noise Cancellation.
For the 2015 model year, the ILX Hybrid was discontinued due to slow sales. Through May of 2014, only 2,660 Hybrid units were sold since its introduction.

POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-04-01
- VIN: 19UDE2F36HA
- Components: POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: My 2017 Acura ILX makes a loud clunk, and shifts extremely hard when coming or coasting to a stop. 1-2 gear seems to be the only time this issue arises. This issues creates startling reaction from the driver due to the loud clunk and force of the shift in gears, as well as loss of confidence in the vehicles ability to safely come stop without issues. Reproducing the issue is difficult because the issue usually occurs in traffic in 1-2 gears and test driving it around the block is not sufficient enough to experience hard shift/clunk. I was told it may be the rear differential bushing. Once they checked that, they were able to rule out the possible bushing issue. There are no codes being shown, and no other issues present before or clunk/jamming of the gears. This issue began 4-5 months after purchasing the vehicle from A Honda/Acura Dealer Washington in Dec 2020

I'm so glad to hear that this is your second Acura and that it's been just as great as the previous one! With an excellent highway mileage of 39 mi/gallon, it's clear that this car is not only reliable but also efficient. The car handles really well around corners and has a very good braking system, making it a great choice for those who value safety. It's wonderful to hear that you have had such positive experiences with Honda-made products, including 2 Civics, 2 CRVs, the Ilx, and even a lawn mower! It's clear that reliability is a top priority for you, and it's great to see that Honda cars have consistently met your expectations. With both the Civic and the 2009 CRV having way over 100k miles and not a single problem, it's clear that Honda builds automobiles that are built to last. Thank you for sharing your positive experiences with us!

I'm so glad to hear that your 2016 ILX has been flawless, just like your previous Hondas! While it may not have the same driving experience as a BMW or Audi, it handles very well and has a comfortable ride, except on rough pavement. The tech gadgets are amazing and the sound system is great. I'm impressed by the gas mileage, with over 40 mpg on the highway and an average of 36 in mixed driving. Even in the winter, it still gets a respectable 31 mpg on a tank of gas. It's great to know that you can use regular gas without any impact on performance.

I bought my car in 2016 mainly for its technology and safety features. It has been a decent ride so far, although the navigation system can be a bit slow and the DVD updates are not as frequent as they should be. While the technology may be a bit outdated now, the car still runs smoothly and gets great mileage on the highway.
-
The ILX handles great, has ample room for golf clubs, and fits in my garage easily. It's a great car for those who want both performance and practicality.

In October 2018, I bought a previously leased 2016 Acura ILX with over 23,000 miles on it. I absolutely love everything about it, except for the road and engine noise which can be a bit too pronounced.

I am disappointed with my purchase of the 2017 ILX. The car's interior is minimalistic and lacks the electronics that I was expecting. Additionally, I experienced issues with the rear view mirror, radio, and headlights. I believe that Acura can do better and should improve the quality of their products.
Orlo Upton 2024-11-05
I used to be a proud owner of the 2004 Acura TL and I absolutely loved that car. Recently, I purchased another Acura with the hope that it would bring me the same level of happiness. Unfortunately, I have been experiencing some issues with the transmission. It makes a banging noise and feels like it's lunging forward when I let off the gas. I was told that this is normal and that I was confusing the car when I drove it. Despite this, I find the ride to be quite hard and noisy. It seems like they cut corners on this car and it shows, especially considering the high price tag. I am disappointed with my experience and have decided not to purchase another Acura in the future.

I have owned two previous Acura's and loved them. However, I had a negative experience with this particular vehicle. Unfortunately, I encountered 18 issues with it, and despite reaching out to the dealership and Acura customer service, I was unable to receive the assistance I needed. As a loyal customer, I was disappointed with the treatment I received. In the end, I decided to trade it in for a Lexus. Thank you for considering my experience.

I recently leased a 2017 Acura ILX, which is my seventh Acura. I have always loved my previous Acuras, but unfortunately, I am not enjoying this one as much. The new 8 gear transmission with two clutches is too complex and does not offer the performance that Acura claims. The car struggles to find the right gear when accelerating, and it lacks power from 10mph to 40mph. My previous car, a 2014 Acura ILX, was perfect, and I regret not keeping it. The muffler is also quite noisy, which is not to my liking. Despite these issues, I am hopeful that the car will improve over time.

I am confident in my Acura, and while I have not yet taken it in for its first service, I am generally very satisfied with my purchase. I have noticed a few issues with the infotainment system, such as the programmed radio stations displaying incorrect numbers upon start-up, and the backup camera failing to turn off after shifting out of reverse. However, I am confident that these issues can be resolved and do not detract from the overall quality of the vehicle.
