Acura Ilx problems

The Acura ILX is a compact car (C-segment) manufactured and marketed by Honda under the Acura brand, based on the ninth-generation Civic sedan. The ILX replaced the Canadian market exclusive Acura CSX. The gasoline-electric hybrid version was Acura's first.
Overview
The concept version was unveiled at the 2012 North American International Auto Show, the production version was presented in the 2012 Chicago Auto Show. The ILX introduces a new design that Acura calls "aero-fused dynamics". Mass production commenced on April 23 at Honda's assembly facility in Greensburg, Indiana and U.S. sales began on May 22.
The ILX's body in white uses 59% high strength steel ranging from 440-980 MPa yield strength grades, aluminum is used for the hood and front bumper beam. Compared to the Civic, the ILX uses Acura's "Amplitude Reactive" dampers and a larger more rigid steering shaft for improved handling and ride quality characteristics.
Options are grouped into Premium and Technology packages and include leather upholstery, 17" alloy wheels, navigation system, premium audio system with SiriusXM satellite radio, and high intensity discharge headlamps. Both option packages include a multi-view rear backup camera with regular, wide-angle, and top-down modes.
For the 2014 model year the ILX came standard with 17-inch wheels, leather interior, heated front seats, an eight-way power driver's seat, tri-angle backup camera and audio subwoofer with Active Noise Cancellation.
For the 2015 model year, the ILX Hybrid was discontinued due to slow sales. Through May of 2014, only 2,660 Hybrid units were sold since its introduction.

Acura Ilx 2019
- Date Of Incident: 2024-10-14
- Date Complaint: 2024-10-14
- VIN: 19UDE2F74KA
- Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: To Whom It May Concern: I am writing to express my serious concerns regarding the safety recall (NHTSA Recall No. 21V-215) for the fuel pump on my 2019 Acura ILX, VIN [XXX] . While I appreciate that American Honda has issued this recall, I am deeply troubled by the lack of available replacement parts and the company's decision to prioritize repairs only for vehicles currently experiencing symptoms. This approach fails to adequately address the safety risks for all affected vehicles and owners. The recall notice clearly states that the defective fuel pump impeller can deform over time, potentially causing the engine to stall while driving and increasing the risk of a crash. By delaying repairs for vehicles not yet exhibiting symptoms, American Honda is placing owners like myself at unnecessary risk of experiencing a dangerous malfunction while operating our vehicles. I have contacted several Acura dealerships, all of which have confirmed they have limited or no parts available to complete this critical safety repair. This situation is unacceptable given the serious nature of the defect and the potential consequences of a fuel pump failure. I urge American Honda to take immediate action to: 1.Accelerate production and distribution of replacement fuel pump modules to all authorized Acura dealers. 2.Offer loaner vehicles or alternative transportation to all affected owners until repairs can be completed. 3.Provide a firm timeline for when all affected vehicles will be able to receive the recall repair. 4.Consider expanding reimbursement eligibility to cover preventative repairs owners may pursue given the delays. American Honda has a responsibility to promptly remedy this safety defect for all affected vehicles, not just those currently exhibiting symptoms. Failure to do so in a timely manner may expose the company to increased liability and potential legal action. Vehicle year: 2019
In 2017, I was on the hunt for a car and looked at plenty of options. I tried the Civic, but it was too slow. The Camry had no features, the Rogue was too pricey, and the Sonata was both slow and expensive. Then I found my ILX and fell in love. It was the best car out of all the options I had considered. I drive 45 minutes from my house to Manhattan, and the ILX saves me money while providing a quiet and comfortable ride. I had a 2012 Passat SEL, but it caused me so many problems and wasted so much money that I could have bought a Lexus or BMW with all the maintenance costs. That's why I chose the ILX, and I've had it for two years with no problems at all. It's fast, reliable, fuel-efficient, and worth every penny. My wife loves our ILX, and I plan to keep it forever.

I bought my car in 2016 mainly for its technology and safety features. It has been alright so far, although the navigation system can be quite slow and the DVD updates are not always done on a yearly basis as they should be. While the technology may be a bit outdated now, the car itself runs smoothly and gets great mileage on the highway.

Congratulations on your first “luxury” car! It sounds like you made a great choice with the ILX, especially since it has all the standard features you were looking for. I'm glad to hear that it exceeded your expectations during the test drive and that you ended up taking it home. 😂😂 While the infotainment system may be a bit confusing at first, I'm sure you'll get the hang of it in no time!

The car looks great and handles beautifully, which is even better since it's Made in America! While I'm a bit disappointed in the electronics interface, as some features are not as intuitive as I'd like and will take me on a steep learning curve, the car is still feature-packed, which is one of the reasons I purchased it. The controls could be more intuitive, but the eight-speed DC transmission, handling, and relatively quiet ride are particularly impressive. At that price point, it's all I could have wanted and more. Additionally, I've been getting over 40mpg on trips, which is fantastic!

I've always admired this car whenever I saw it driving or parked, so I decided to visit the dealer and take it for a test drive. I was thoroughly impressed with its acceleration, steering feel, handling, and overall ride quality. Although the interior isn't luxurious, it has a sporty and upscale aura to it. The exterior lines and design also look quite sporty. I ended up leasing it for much less than the competition, including the Audi A3, BMW 3 series, Mercedes Benz CLA, Lexus IS, Infiniti Q50, and others. Overall, it's a fun car to drive, and I feel like it offers great value in the crowded and highly competitive entry-level compact sedan category. The base model offers everything I wanted, including a peppy 2.4/201 HP engine (more than some of the more expensive competitors), a moonroof, heated leatherette seats, power driver's seats, heated mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, steering wheel controls for Bluetooth, audio, cruise, and more. If you want more options like navigation, safety features, and various other upgrades, the payment rises accordingly, but it's still less than every other competitor. I also test drove mainstream compact sedans such as the Honda Civic, Nissan Sentra, and Mazda 3, all of which drove terrifically as well, but the prices were too close to the more powerful Acura ILX.

I leased a Mazda3 premium plus and loved it. I was considering getting the new redesigned one, but had some negative feelings about the Mazda dealership experience. Against my better judgement, I looked at the Acura ILX. Let me just say that this car is inferior to the 3 in virtually every respect, and in some ways vastly inferior. However, there are some positives to the ILX. The headlights are the best I have ever seen, illuminating the road extremely well under any circumstances. The value is also great, as it is easily the cheapest

Unfortunately, this car does not support Bluetooth connectivity for music playback. Additionally, there seems to be a vibration issue that affects the sound quality, which is disappointing for someone who enjoys listening to music while driving. The dealership suggested adding foam around the speakers to improve the situation, but it may not completely solve the problem. It's worth noting that this issue seems to be specific to this Acura model due to the plastic parts used around the speakers. It's understandable to feel frustrated with this situation, especially if you've had better experiences with other car brands. Hopefully, this information helps others who may be experiencing similar issues.

The ILX's hands-free system is not as user-friendly as it could be. While it does have speed dial options, it lacks a dial pad and requires some manual input. The technology could be improved to make it more intuitive and safer to use while driving. Despite the car's high cost, the entertainment system is basic and lacks features such as a touchscreen or Siri radio. However, the ILX does have good speakers. While the reviewer has had some negative experiences with the car, it is important to note that everyone's experience is different. It is always a good idea to test drive a car before purchasing it to ensure that it meets your needs and expectations.I called the company regarding my issue, but unfortunately, they have not taken any steps to rectify the situation or offer me a more suitable car for my needs. It is disappointing to receive such a lacklustre response. It is my hope that the company will take my concerns seriously and work with me to find a satisfactory solution. I believe that every customer deserves equal attention and assistance, regardless of their status.

I recently leased a 2017 Acura ILX, which is my seventh Acura. I have always loved my previous Acuras, but unfortunately, I am not enjoying this one as much. The new 8 gear transmission with two clutches is too complex and does not offer the performance that Acura claims. The car struggles to find the right gear when accelerating, and it lacks power from 10mph to 40mph. My previous car, a 2014 Acura ILX, was perfect, and I regret not keeping it. The muffler is also quite noisy, which is not to my liking. Despite these issues, I am hopeful that the car will improve over time.

I own this car and I have some regrets about it. The features on a Civic are much more advanced and have more technology than the ILX. The seats are not even manual on the passenger side and it doesn't have a push start remote like the Civic. Additionally, it doesn't have navigation and the backup camera doesn't have a beep sound. Overall, it's not as high quality as a Honda Civic and I don't think it's worth the price.
