The BMW 3 Series is a line of compact executive cars manufactured by the German automaker BMW since May 1975. It is the successor to the 02 Series and has been produced in seven generations.

The first generation of the 3 Series was only available as a 2-door saloon; the model range expanded to include a 4-door saloon, 2-door convertible, 2-door coupé, 5-door estate, 5-door liftback ("Gran Turismo") and 3-door hatchback body styles. Since 2013, the coupé and convertible models have been marketed as the 4 Series, styles no longer included in the 3 Series.

The 3 Series is BMW's best-selling model, accounting for around 30% of the BMW brand's annual total car sales, and has won numerous awards throughout its history.

The M version of the 3 series, M3, debuted with the E30 M3 in 1986.

Common 2013 Bmw 320i problems

The BMW 320i 2013 is a popular entry-level luxury car known for its agile handling, upscale interior, and good fuel economy. However, like any car, it has its share of common problems that owners have reported. Here are some of the most frequently mentioned issues:

  • Loss of drive: If you have a 2013 3 Series with a manual gearbox and find it difficult to engage gears, it might be that the bolts securing the pressure plate are loose. This issue was addressed with a recall for cars made between February 2013 and June 2013, and the bolts should have been replaced to fix the problem.
  • Power steering issues: Some cars produced between the start of production and December 8, 2015, may have a potential issue with the power steering, causing heavier steering than usual if it fails. Affected examples will need to have a new power steering system fitted to fix the fault.
  • Seatbelt mechanism: Some examples manufactured between September 1, 2014, and March 31, 2015, could have a faulty Driver's side seatbelt mechanism that makes it difficult to use in cold weather. If your car is affected, you will need to have the mechanism replaced.
  • Infotainment system: Some owners have reported issues with the infotainment system, including problems with the audio, GPS, phone, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display, and display screen. These issues can range from minor glitches to complete system failures, and may require professional repair or replacement of components.
  • Rear axle bolts: Cars produced between January 1, 2015, and September 1, 2016, may have rear axle bolts that can fail when reused. If any work has been carried out on the rear axle, you should ensure that new bolts have been fitted.
  • Crankcase bearing bushing: Some 3 Series models made from March 11, 2019, and July 9, 2019, may have a crankcase bearing bushing that was not pressed into the engine correctly. This issue may require a new engine to be fitted, so it's essential to speak to a BMW dealer for further information.
  • EGR cooler: There have been recalls for leaking EGR coolers that affect various BMW models, including the 3 Series. If your car was built between September 19, 2015, and November 22, 2017, you should contact your dealer for further information, as your vehicle may need to be inspected.

Overall, the BMW 320i 2013 is a reliable car with a good reputation for build quality and luxury features. However, like any car, it can have issues that may require professional repair or replacement of components. If you're considering purchasing a used 320i, it's essential to have it inspected by a qualified mechanic and to be aware of these common problems.

SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC,SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2013-09-17
  • Crash: 1
  • VIN: WBA3C3C51DF
  • Components: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC,SERVICE BRAKES
  • Summary: RE: TCN-KDN21-40701 ON 9/17/13 I WAS INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT. I WAS UNABLE TO STOP MY CAR AS IT ROLLED DOWN A HILL - ALTHOUGH I APPLIED THE BRAKES. THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED AS I WAS LEAVING A DRIVEWAY WHICH IS POSITIONED ON A HILL. IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT A WARNING MESSAGE FLASHED ON MY SCREEN. I THEN HEARD A LOUD "POP" AND THEN A "GRINDING" NOISE. AS I APPLIED THE BRAKES THE CAR CONTINUED ROLLING DOWN THE HILL AND THE AIRBAG POPPED OUT - KNOCKING ME UNCONSCIOUS. I WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE CAR. WHEN MY CAR REACHED THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL, IT HIT THE BACK OF ANOTHER CAR AND THEN TRAVELED ACROSS THE HIGHWAY. IT'S A MIRACLE I WASN'T KILLED! IRONICALLY, THE MAKE/MODEL MODEL OF MY CAR WAS RECALLED THE WEEK AFTER MY ACCIDENT. (REFER TO NHTSA RECALL # 13V454000). BMW CHECKED MY CAR AFTER THE ACCIDENT AND CLAIMED THAT MY CAR PASSED WITH "FLYING COLORS". THIS DOES NOT MAKE SENSE CONSIDERING THAT THE CAUSE OF MY ACCIDENT WAS DUE TO MY INABILITY TO STOP THE CAR - YET THE CAR WAS RECALLED DUE TO BRAKING PROBLEMS. BMW WAS ALSO UNABLE TO PROVIDE ME WITH AN EXPLANATION REGARDING THE GRINDING NOISE, THE POPPING SOUND OR WHY MY AIRBAG DEPLOYED PRIOR TO THE CRASH. MY CAR FIT ALL OF THE CRITERIA FOR THE CARS BMW WERE RECALLING. WHEN I INITIALLY ASKED BMW IF MY CAR WAS ON THE RECALL LIST THEY FIRST TOLD ME THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE COMPLETE VIN# LIST. WHEN I INQUIRED THE SECOND TIME - BMW CLAIMED THAT MY CAR'S VIN # WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. I DO NOT BELIEVE BMW. AND THE FACT THAT BMW CHECKED THE CAR AND CLAIMED NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT IS LIKE THE POLICE POLICING THE POLICE. BMW DOES NOT WANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT MY CAR WAS SUBJECT TO THE DEFECT THAT IT WAS BEING RECALLED FOR WHICH IS WHY THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED. BMW DOES NOT WANT TO SUBJECT IT SELF TO LITIGATION. HOWEVER, I DO NOT ACCEPT BMW'S FINDINGS BECAUSE IT IS NOT OBJECTIVE. BMW IS LYING. *TR
