Models
For the model year of 2017 (the first model year), a short and long wheelbase sedan as well as an estate model were made available. S90
Before its reveal, the first official pictures of the S90 were shown on Wednesday, 2 December 2015. The S90 was unveiled to the public in January 2016, at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan. The S90's design was well received, winning the Production Car Design of the Year award for 2015.
While not a direct successor to the second-generation S80, the S90 replaces it as the flagship sedan in Volvo's lineup. Several trim levels are available, ranging from Momentum to Inscription. In July 2016, an optional, cosmetic R-Design package was announced. A long wheelbase version was announced for availability in the United States.
For the 2022 model year in the United Kingdom, the range was limited to the S90 Recharge, a mild-hybrid sedan. The S90 Recharge was limited to Plus and Ultimate trim levels with the T8 AWD mild-hybrid engine, a 2.0-litre 455-horsepower (339 kW; 461 PS) 4-cylinder available with all-wheel-drive only.

- Potential engine fire: Volvo has issued a recall for around 70,000 cars in the UK, including the S90, due to potential engine fires. This issue affects S90s made before 25 April 2018, and owners should contact Volvo directly for further information or to arrange a fix.
- Automatic emergency braking (AEB) system failure: The AEB system, which is designed to apply the brakes when the forward collision sensors detect an imminent collision, may not function correctly in some 2017 Volvo S90s. A software update is required to fix this issue, which can be performed by any Volvo dealer.

I was torn between the Audi A6 and S90, but after test driving both models, I fell in love with the S90's interior. I did hear about the infotainment issues, so I made sure to check that it was working properly with no delays. Compared to the A6, I felt that the S90 with its 20-inch rims and polestar tune was a complete package that handled well for its size. While some critics may complain about the exhaust sound, I don't think that's a fair criticism for a car in this segment. Overall, I find the S90 to be a comfortable, safe, and stable car with decent reliability, and I am very satisfied with my purchase. I would definitely recommend it!

Hi there! We're currently 21 months into our 36-month lease and everything has been going smoothly so far. The only minor issue we've encountered is that the navigation system could be improved. Overall, we're still really enjoying our lease!

I'm a cardiologist who drives quite a few miles every year. I've had an Audi and a BMW before, but the S90 is hands down the best car I've ever had. It's comfortable, luxurious, and has just the right amount of gadgetry. In my opinion, it's even prettier than others in its class, except perhaps the Jaguar.

The S90 is the best car I've owned, with its no-nonsense luxury, great looks, and respectable fuel economy. Although I've owned BMW, Audi, and VWs, the S90 stands out. While it may not handle like it's on rails, it's comfortable, responsive, and has an incredible sound system, which is very important to me as an audiophile. I agree with some of the other reviews that the infotainment system is a little sluggish, but it's not terrible. If you're looking for a refined ride with great looks and good gas mileage, I highly recommend checking out the S90. I've had it for a year and have had no problems since I bought it CPO in 2019.

Volvo is making a huge comeback with their all new XC90 and S90 models. Both vehicles have been sharply refined and only the best materials have been used in their construction. The amount of standard technology that they offer is truly staggering. Unlike other luxury companies in Volvo's class, such as Lexus and Mercedes-Benz, Volvo doesn't nickel and dime you for everything. Additionally, Volvo's fantastic lease offers are very appealing. Volvo has always been a reliable brand and they also have one of the best resale values in the market.

This car has at least 100 'warnings' built into it that the dealer says cannot be cancelled. Imagine driving down the freeway at 75mph and suddenly the steering wheel starts shaking, the dash has a bell that screams at you and a red alarm warning goes off in your face. It can be quite scary, but rest assured that these warnings are there to keep you safe. However, if you experience repeated warnings, it's best to have the car checked by a professional.

People often compliment my 2017 S90 when I'm pumping gas or stopped at red lights. However, I must be honest and tell them not to buy one. I have had numerous issues with it every year and I cannot wait for my 36-month lease to end!
