I've been driving my 2017 VW Egolf for a month now and it's been amazing! As someone who works in the service department at a major VW dealership, I can confidently say that the '17 model is a no-brainer. It has 50% more range than the '16, amazing pick up, and regen. Plus, the infotainment system is updated and perfect.

If you're considering purchasing an e-Golf, you're probably already familiar with the different models, years, and benefits of each. For us, this car's range and amenities are all we need for almost all of our car trips (which is about 325 days a year). It's a joy to drive, requires little to no maintenance, and is easy to charge at home (you can get a charger on Amazon for under a grand). The stock radio sounds great, and the handling is fun around town. While it's true that this model (SE) doesn't have any kind of cruise control at all, it's not a big deal since you probably won't be doing a lot of highway driving. As a second car, it's a no-brainer (if you can charge at home). As a primary car, it's still a great option and is very affordable. In summary, we absolutely love it!

This car is not only a joy to drive, but it is also incredibly functional. The front and back are super roomy, and even at 6'4'', I have plenty of leg and headroom. I have even transported 8' 2x4s from the lumber yard by folding down the back seat, although I wouldn't recommend it as a construction vehicle. As my first electric car, I was concerned about the 125-mile range, but with careful driving, I typically get 150-160 miles per charge. The car even teaches me how to conserve power! I can easily use it for a week of driving to and from work and weekend errands on a single charge. I didn't opt for the level 3 charger, and I'm glad I didn't for a local use vehicle. I have never needed it as a level 2 charger quickly tops off my charge while I'm in the grocery store.

Despite encountering some issues with my car, I am confident that it will be resolved soon. After experiencing an electronic error, I had to have it towed to a dealer 3 miles away. Although the only person who could work on it quit, I remained optimistic and took it to a dealer in Denver. However, they were unable to diagnose the issue and sent it to Oxnard. While I am still waiting for updates on my car's status, I am confident that it will be resolved soon. I have come across similar complaints on forums, but I trust that my car will be fixed and I will be able to sell it.

I recently purchased a car in California and informed the dealership that I would be relocating to Georgia within the year. Unfortunately, I was not informed that the car would not be serviceable in Georgia. I had the car shipped to Georgia and when it was time for its first maintenance, I discovered that no dealerships in the area were trained to service the car. I was informed that having the car serviced by a non-dealership mechanic could potentially void my warranty. When I contacted VW to inquire about the possibility of having someone trained in the area, I was informed that it was my responsibility to know whether or not they service the vehicle in other states. It is quite surprising that a car made by a major manufacturer cannot be serviced by at least one local dealership. This experience has been quite frustrating and has left me feeling disappointed with the level of customer service. If you are considering purchasing this car and anticipate moving to another state during the time you own it, I would recommend considering another vehicle instead.

When we received the e-Golf, the company promised a range of over 100 miles on a full charge. However, after a software update, we experienced some issues with the car. The range dropped to just 54 miles, and the charger caused some problems in our house. We also had some difficulties during the winter months, as the car did not have heating and we had to pull over a few times due to running out of battery. Unfortunately, attempts to fix the problem were unsuccessful, and the VW Co and Financial office refused to take the car back. Instead, they charged us a $2500 early return fee.

I work 9 miles from home and have to charge my car every night. Unfortunately, due to the bumper to bumper traffic, the 107 mile fully charged battery drops down to 87 within 10 minutes and then down to 55 before I get home. It takes 22 hours to fully charge, so I have to charge it every night for 12 hours and hope that it is fully charged. Although I was told by sales to “realistically” expect 100 miles per charge, not the 126 advertised, I still enjoy driving it. However, I have experienced some issues with the delay function. I put it on for the first time and in the morning, my car was still at 55. Overall, I am hoping to find a solution to these issues as I believe this car has great potential.

I have been experiencing some issues with my car's high voltage battery and charging system for the past 11 weeks. Unfortunately, VW did not cover the charging issue as my car was just over 5 years old. Since my local VW dealership did not have trained technicians on site, my car was sent to Colonial VW in Massachusetts. Although the repair took longer than expected, I was able to get in touch with Sylvia at VW of North America customer care who has been very helpful in finding a way forward. After several calls, I suggested that VW offer to buy the car back and Sylvia immediately provided me with a process for VW to consider an offer. Although it has been frustrating to deal with this issue for so long, I am grateful for the support I have received from Sylvia and the team at VW of North America.It's going to be 12 weeks next week without a car. I wouldn't recommend buying a Volkswagen, their service is terrible.
