The Volkswagen Arteon is a car manufactured by German car manufacturer Volkswagen. Described as a large family car or a mid-size car, it is available in five-door liftback or estate body styles. The Arteon was unveiled on 6 March 2017, at the Geneva Motor Show, and at the Chicago Auto Show for the North American market. It is direct successor to the CC; however, Volkswagen announced that the Arteon is positioned to be more upmarket than the CC. The vehicle is based on the MQB platform.
Production of the saloon was discontinued in 2023. The wagon is to be continued until 2026.
Launch
Launched in Europe in 2017, the Arteon is positioned above the Passat, and is heavily based on the 2015 Volkswagen Arteon concept car shown at the Geneva International Motor Show. The Arteon made its debut for the United States at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show. Volkswagen delayed the launch in the United States of the Arteon due to unspecified issues with the emissions testing. Vehicles started arriving at dealerships in the US in April 2019. It became available in the Canadian market in the spring of 2019. The Arteon had multiple delays for Malaysia, only arriving to the market in August 2020. Less than a year later, in July 2021, the facelifted model was launched. However, it was discontinued for the Canadian market after the 2021 model year due to poor sales. Volkswagen announced that 2024 would be the final model year for the Arteon due to poor sales, and a shift in focus to high-volume models.

I spent a lot of time searching for a stylish sedan with important features like AWD, suspension- and steering-adjusted driving modes (not just transmission shift points), keyless entry, driver memory, a real back seat, etc. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything that wasn't priced over $50,000. However, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the Arteon comes with a 6yr/72k warranty and is priced much more reasonably than other cars that are not nearly as stylish or sporty. It's a shame that no one within a 200 mile radius sells the Arteon anywhere near the MSRP or invoice. I also noticed that many reviewers seem to overlook some of the Arteon's features, such as the adjustable steering in the Driving Mode, the behavior of the climate control, and the adaptive headlights. Even VW's website and brochures don't provide detailed descriptions of some of the Arteon's features, such as the auto-dimming and auto-folding side mirrors and the auto-recline seat entry. However, the Arteon has equipment that cannot be found on a fully loaded Audi A4, such as remote start. While some of the interior details may not be as nice as those in Volvo's or Audi's cars, they are pretty much on par with the entry level Mercedes and BMWs. Additionally, the Arteon's virtual cockpit display is vastly superior to those in other luxury brands. I would recommend avoiding the silly R-Line appearance package, as the oversized wheels just roughen the ride and make road noise louder. It's not a smart move for VW to provide R-Lines to reviewers! To sum up, the Arteon is a sporty sedan, not a sports car.Once properly set up (not just selecting the Sport mode), the Arteon provides a near-perfect balance of not only sport and comfort, but also utility. The spacious rear seats and huge hatch opening trunk make it a practical choice for any driver.

I absolutely love this car! The value quotient is incredibly compelling, especially considering the highly discounted price I paid. Even on this low trim level, there are so many small things that make a big difference. For example, the rear seat ski pass through, power emergency brake, sun glass cubby, angled easy insert seat belts, exact read tire pressure monitor, oil temperature gauge, covered cup holders, and automatic air recirculating are all fantastic touches. And let's not forget how gorgeous the car looks! It handles like a dream with excellent steering, and the ride quality is on par with the Audi A6's I've had in the past. Plus, the hatchback design creates a huge and versatile cargo area. The blind spot warning indicator in the mirror is the biggest and most noticeable I've come across, which is a huge plus. And with Apple CarPlay, there's no need to pay for a Navi. The gas mileage is even better than expected, beating EPA figures and getting over 30 on the highway. The only minor downsides are that it could be a little quicker/sportier and have larger glove box and cabin storage, but those are small trade-offs for such an amazing car. I liked my first Arteon so much that I upgraded to the top of the line, and I'm so glad I did. Of note, I kept the 18” wheels, which make the ride supremely comfortable over rough roads. The brakes and steering are excellent, and while it could be a bit sportier and faster, the 2022 model is adding some horsepower. If you're in the market for a new car, I highly recommend getting an Arteon. Don't wait too long though, as the 2023 model may be the last offered in the USA.

The Arteon is a fantastic daily driver. It's comfortable and zippy (besides some noticeable turbo lag). It's not mind-blowingly fast, but it's more than sufficient, and the adaptive dampers are something I don't think I'll ever be able to go without. I've never had a car that can change so much based on the drive mode.

I recently purchased the SEL Premium R-Line Arteon, which is one of the most beautiful cars of 2019 according to Car and Driver magazine. The car's design, performance, and spacious cargo area are some of its best features. If you're looking for a car that will turn heads and spark conversations, the Arteon is the perfect choice. The car's fuel economy is also impressive, averaging between 32-34 mpg on the highway. The Arteon comes with a range of features that make driving a pleasure, including the digital cockpit, 4Motion all-wheel drive, and adaptive cruise control. Although it's not a true performance sedan, the Arteon can be aggressive when you need it to be. Additionally, the car comes with a 6 year/72K miles limited warranty, which is one of the best available. The only downside is that there are no rear seat USB outlets, but this can be easily remedied with a 12V-to-USB converter. Overall, I am extremely pleased with my purchase.

I have owned my 2020 Arteon for 6 months and have only driven it for 3000 miles. Unfortunately, I have experienced some issues with excessive wind noise at speeds of 50mph and above. Despite taking it to Rick Case VW Weston Florida, where 'Customers are Friends', they were unable to identify the cause of the issue after keeping the car in the shop for 8 days. However, I am confident that this issue can be resolved and will be taking it up with VW directly. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I see that you've owned the car for less than 6 months. Let me start by saying that the car has a lot of pros. It has better than advertised MPG (in normal mode) and tons of space on the inside, making it a great car for tall/wide people. The cargo space is also very practical. Additionally, the car has all the tech you could ask for, minus a heads up display and behind the times backup camera resolution. The interior and exterior ambient lighting is amazing, and the headlights are adaptive and super cool. However, there are some cons to the car as well. The LANE KEEPING ASSIST turns on every time you start the vehicle, and it takes three steps to disable while using finnicky touch controls on your steering wheel. The sport mode is underwhelming due to lackluster transmission, and there are lots of QC issues - my passenger window, like another reviewer, also had wind noise at 60 mph and above. The car has too many touch capacitive buttons/controls, and I would definitely not own it past the bumper to bumper coverage. There are also too many exterior proximity sensors that activate randomly, and no answers/fixes from the dealership. My ventilated seats would turn on every time I start the car, regardless of outside temperature (no answers or fixes from dealership). The area for the wireless charger was horribly designed, and the charging speed is useless. Overall, it is a great show off car. No one will be impressed though, other than other Arteon owners, and some other VW owners, whose cars will smoke yours in acceleration and handling. It is a great cruising car for long distances, but not so much around town.

Hi there! I noticed that the front passenger window whistles at 60 mph or more. I understand that it's a frameless window and the dealer is not sure if they can fix it. Don't worry, we'll find a solution together. If it cannot be fixed, we can explore other options, including a trade-in. I just wanted to say that it's a great car otherwise!

This is part review, part cry for help. We have had the Arteon for 15 months and unfortunately, we have had to replace the tires 8 times at $300 each. While a couple of replacements were due to large potholes, some were caused by minor bumps on the road that we couldn't even feel. It seems that the side walls of the tires just slice open from the pressure on the rim. Despite this issue, we still love the way the car drives. We would greatly appreciate any advice or solutions for the tire problem.

Between the time of purchase (Nov '22) and the first week of Jan 2023, I had three flat tires. If you live in an area with potholes or skinny, windy roads where you may occasionally go slightly off the road when there are oncoming cars, you may want to consider other options. Although the car itself is great, it seems to have some issues with tire wear.
