VISIBILITY PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2018-11-20
- Components: VISIBILITY
- Summary: HELLO, MY NAME IS [XXX] AND I AM CONTACTING YOU REGARDING A RECENT SAFETY ISSUE MY PARENTS EXPERIENCED. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED: DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT 70 MPH, MY DAD WENT TO ADJUST HIS OUTSIDE MIRRORS. WHEN DOING SO, HIS FINGER BRUSHED THE "FOLD" BUTTON BY ACCIDENT, AND THE OUTDOOR SIDE MIRRORS FOLDED IN. HE WASN'T AWARE THAT HE TOUCHED THE BUTTON AS HE HAS NEVER USED THIS FEATURE IN THE PAST. NEEDLESS TO SAY THEY ARE NOW DRIVING 70 MPH IN A VERY LARGE TRUCK AND DO NOT HAVE A CLEAR SAFE VIEW AS THEY HAVE TO CHANGE 4 LANES TO EXIT THE FREEWAY AND THEN NAVIGATE TO A SAFE AREA TO TRY TO FIX THIS ISSUE. THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION HAS BEEN COPIED AND PASTED FROM THE OWNER'S MANUAL. " WHEN YOU ARE HEADING INTO A NARROW PARKING SPACE OR GARAGE, PRESS THE "FOLD" BUTTON IN THE UPPER RIGHT CORNER OF THE SIDE MIRROR CONTROLS, JUST TO THE LEFT OF THE STEERING COLUMN. BOTH MIRRORS WILL FOLD IN TOWARD THE SIDE WINDOWS. TO PUT THEM BACK INTO DRIVING POSITION, PRESS THE BUTTON AGAIN." IT IS MY OPINION THAT THIS FEATURE IS DANGEROUS. THE FEATURE SHOULD ONLY OPERATE AT AN EXTREMELY SLOW RATE OF TRAVEL. THIS FEATURE IS ONLY NEEDED IN TIGHT PARKING SPOTS AND SHOULD NOT ENGAGE AT HIGH RATES OF SPEED. THE OWNERS MANUAL EVEN STATES NOT TO DRIVE THE CAR WITH THE MIRRORS FOLDED. BUT IF YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW THEY WERE ENGAGED, HOW DO YOU KNOW HOW TO RECTIFY IT WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT 70 MPH? IT IS AN ACCIDENT AND A LAWSUIT JUST WAITING TO HAPPEN. THANK YOU. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

Negative 2015 Toyota Tundra car reviews
Positive 2015 Toyota Tundra car reviews
-
Great truck! The only drawback is that it doesn't come with automatic light or power rear slider unless you purchase the limited edition with the 5.7 engine. Also, the cruise control switch can be a bit awkward to use. But overall, it's a fantastic truck with plenty of power for the 4.6l engine, especially when compared to the Ford 5.0l. You can expect an average mileage of 18mpg.
-
After 5 years and 55,000 miles, I can happily say that I still love my Tundra! I haven't had any issues with it, and I wouldn't even consider going back to Chevy. I'm absolutely delighted with my truck and would highly recommend the Tundra to anyone. It's clear that the Toyota Tundra stands out from the crowd when it comes to reliability and performance, and it handles all weather and terrain with ease.
-
The Tundra is simply the best! While the mileage may be around 16 to 17 mpg, it excels in all other areas.
-
The fuel economy could be improved.
-
I completely agree with the other reviews - this truck is absolutely awesome! The exhaust has a nice rumble that reminds me of the lion's roar at the beginning of movies. It tows my 16-foot enclosed trailer with ATVs and dirt bikes with ease, and you would never know it was back there. Coming from a 2007 Suburban that struggled to pull a little red wagon, this truck is fantastic. Although I wish the seats were leather, they are still comfortable. The gas tank is a bit small for a vehicle that only gets 13 mpg, but that's a minor issue. One thing I noticed is that the headlights could be better, but the brights work fine. Parking this beast takes some getting used to, but the backup camera is a great help. Overall, I absolutely love this truck! CONS: headlights, gas tank, and no leather seats PROS: I am lucky enough to own one!

This vehicle seems to be missing some important safety features that I'm looking for. I think I'll focus on 2018 or newer models that have everything I need. That being said, I still really like the Tundra.
Kody Funk 2024-01-28
I can understand your disappointment with the design of the full-size truck and the recent redesign. However, as a Toyota, you may have expected better quality and feel compared to other brands. On the positive side, the truck has great power and the transmission seems to have the right shift points. Although, the heat and air controls could feel more premium. Additionally, the steering may require constant corrections on the highway and the fuel mileage is not ideal.
