At the dealer while servicing have asked to check the frame as there ben lots of concern from Tundra owners. I'm its original owner. Just spend a significant amount of $$$ on service and additional equipment, was looking for another 5 years +++ of use . Just purchased RAV 4 and COROLLA S hatchback for family members .TOYOTA is not offering to help at no coast . I know that if my track will reach 15 year mark there will be nothing to be concerned by Toyota .Fix is estimated parts and labor over $10 K , I do not have this kind of money at this time as just purchased 2 BN Toyota's . ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2018-11-18
- VIN: 5TFBV54139X
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: REPORTING A SAFETY ISSUE REGARDING THE ECM, WIRE HARNESS, AND A SENSOR ATTACHED TO THE TRANSMISSION. IN PARTICULAR, A TRANSMISSION SENSOR FAILED AND ALLOWED A TRANSMISSION FLUID TO WICK ITS WAY THROUGH THE WIRE HARNESS AND INTO THE COMPUTER FOR THE TRUCK. IN THIS CASE, THIS CAUSED THE TRUCK'S STARTER TO ENGAGE WHEN THE LIGHTS FOR THE VEHICLE WERE TURNED ON, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER OR NOT THE TRUCK WAS ALREADY RUNNING. ADDITIONALLY, THE TRUCK WOULD NOT STOP RUNNING, EVEN WHEN THE KEY WAS DISENGAGED FROM THE IGNITION. UPON ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE IN THE DAYLIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE, THE TRUCK DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF MY STREET, JUST AFTER PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. AFTER HAVING THE TRUCK FOR A FEW DAYS, THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THAT TRANSMISSION FLUID HAD GOTTEN INTO THE COMPUTER AND THAT THIS WAS MOST LIKELY THE CAUSE FOR THE PROBLEM. THE TECHNICIAN SHOWED ME THE COMPUTER, TURNED IT UPSIDE DOWN, AND I COULD SEE THE FLUID DRIPPING OUT. THE TOTAL COST OF REPAIRS WAS $3,855.95. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH TOYOTA CUSTOMER CARE, WHICH WAS DENIED CITING THE FACT THAT THE TRUCK WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. TOYOTA DID NOT ISSUE A WRITTEN RESPONSE, AND I SIMPLY RECEIVED A PHONE CALL TO TELL ME THAT THE CLAIM WAS DENIED. I EXPLAINED THAT AN ISSUE SUCH AS THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN OVER NIGHT AND THIS FLUID COULD HAVE BEEN LEAKING INTO THE COMPUTER FOR YEARS. THE TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVE DID NOT CARE ABOUT THIS FACT OR THE POTENTIAL ISSUE WITH FLUID GETTING INTO THE TRUCK'S COMPUTER. A FAULTY COMPUTER, DAMAGED BY TRANSMISSION FLUID COULD CAUSE A NUMBER OF SAFETY ISSUES. IN THE CASE OF MY TRUCK, IT WAS THE FACT THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN OFF WHEN THE KEY WAS REMOVED. IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED IF NHTSA COULD LOOK INTO THIS. I AM AVAILABLE FOR ANY QUESTIONS OR FOLLOW UP. THANK YOU.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2018-11-25
- VIN: 5TFBW54159X

UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2018-06-12
- VIN: 5TFRT54179X
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IN MY VEHICLE DURING A FIVE MILE TRIP TO WORK AND IS STILL ON. THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE REVEALED A FAULT IN AN AIR VALVE. AFTER SOME RESEARCH I DISCOVERED THAT TOYOTA ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THIS PART BECAUSE OF A KNOWN ISSUE AFFECTING THE SAME YEAR/MAKE/MODEL AS MY TUNDRA. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO ASK ABOUT THE REPAIR PROCESS AS I WAS WITHIN THE 10 YEAR/150K MILE EXTENDED WARRANTY PERIOD. THEY STATED THE PART WAS REPLACED IN 2014. I WAS THEN DIRECTED TO CALL TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE. CUSTOMER SERVICE TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT HONOR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE THE PART WAS ALREADY REPLACED. I DO NOT HAVE FAITH THAT REPLACING THE PART WILL FIX MY TRUCK IN THE LONG RUN. TOYOTA OBVIOUSLY IDENTIFIED A FAULT WITH THEIR TRUCKS AND EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON A KNOWN BAD PART. BUT, THIS DID NOT FIX THE TRUCK. THE SAME PROBLEM HAS COME BACK AGAIN AFTER THE PART WAS REPLACED AT A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP ONLY FOUR YEARS AGO. I BELIEVE THAT EVEN IF I HAVE THE TRUCK FIXED, THE PROBLEM WILL PERSIST EVERY COUPLE OF YEARS. I BELIEVE TOYOTA SHOULD BE LIABLE FOR REPLACING THE PART.

I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THE TRUCK SINCE THEN WITH THE NOISE COMING AND SUBSIDING, THE TRUCK NOW HAS 46,000 MILES ON IT AND THE NOISE HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE WITH VIBRATIONS ON THE HIGHWAY. THE SEVEN YEAR WARRANTY RAN OUT AND I'M SURE THAT IF I TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER THEY WILL NOW HEAR THE NOISE. I LOOKED AT ONLINE FORUMS AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE TRUCKS, TOYOTA HAS TO KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM. I DON'T KNOW WHY THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL TO FIX THE PROBLEM WHEN THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINTS.

- Manufacturer: TOYOTA MOTOR NORTH AMERICA, INC.
- Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:ACCELERATOR PEDAL
- Summary: TOYOTA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2005-2010 AVALON, MODEL YEAR 2007-2010 CAMRY, MODEL YEAR 2009-2010 COROLLA, COROLLA MATRIX, RAV4, MODEL YEAR 2010 HIGHLANDER, MODEL YEAR 2008-2010 SEQUOIA, AND MODEL YEAR 2007-2010 TUNDRA VEHICLES. DUE TO THE MANNER IN WHICH THE FRICTION LEVER INTERACTS WITH THE SLIDING SURFACE OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL INSIDE THE PEDAL SENSOR ASSEMBLY, THE SLIDING SURFACE OF THE LEVER MAY BECOME SMOOTH DURING VEHICLE OPERATION. IN THIS CONDITION, IF CONDENSATION OCCURS ON THE SURFACE, AS MAY OCCUR FROM HEATER OPERATION (WITHOUT A/C) WHEN THE PEDAL ASSEMBLY IS COLD, THE FRICTION WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS OPERATED MAY INCREASE, WHICH MAY RESULT IN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECOMING HARDER TO DEPRESS, SLOWER TO RETURN, OR, IN THE WORST CASE, MECHANICALLY STUCK IN A PARTIALLY DEPRESSED POSITION.
- Consequence: THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL MAY BECOME HARD TO DEPRESS, SLOW TO RETURN TO IDLE, OR, IN THE WORST CASE, MECHANICALLY STUCK IN A PARTIALLY DEPRESSED POSITION, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A REINFORCEMENT BAR IN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WHICH WILL ALLOW THE PEDAL TO OPERATE SMOOTHLY. GM WILL NOTIFY OWNERS FOR THE PONTIAC VIBE PLEASE SEE 10V-018. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON FEBRUARY 5, 2010 AND WILL BE COMPLETED ON MARCH 15, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TOYOTA AT 1-800-331-4331.
- Manufacturer: TOYOTA MOTOR NORTH AMERICA, INC.
- Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:ACCELERATOR PEDAL
- Summary: TOYOTA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2004-2010 PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL CAN GET STUCK IN THE WIDE OPEN POSITION DUE TO ITS BEING TRAPPED BY AN UNSECURED OR INCOMPATIBLE DRIVER'S FLOOR MAT.
- Consequence: A STUCK OPEN ACCELERATOR PEDAL MAY RESULT IN VERY HIGH VEHICLE SPEEDS AND MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO STOP THE VEHICLE, WHICH COULD CAUSE A CRASH, SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.
- Remedy: TOYOTA FILED AN AMENDED DEFECT REPORT ON NOVEMBER 25, 2009, STATING THAT DEALERS WILL MODIFY THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND, ON CERTAIN VEHICLES, ALTER THE SHAPE OF THE FLOOR SURFACE UNDER THE PEDAL. THESE CHANGES ADDRESS THE RISK OF PEDAL ENTRAPMENT DUE TO INTERFERENCE WITH THE FLOOR MAT. REDESIGNED ACCELERATOR PEDALS WILL BECOME AVAILABLE BEGINNING IN APRIL 2010 AND DEALERS WILL REPLACE ANY MODIFIED PEDAL WITH THE NEW PEDAL IF DESIRED. ALSO, DEALERS WILL REPLACE ANY GENUINE TOYOTA OR LEXUS ALL-WEATHER FLOOR MATS WITH REDESIGNED ALL-WEATHER MATS, OR REPURCHASE THE PREVIOUS MATS FROM OWNERS WHO DO NOT WANT THE NEW ONES. ADDITIONALLY, SOFTWARE MODIFICATIONS WILL BE INSTALLED ON CAMRY, AVALON AND LEXUS ES 350, IS 350 AND IS 250 MODELS THAT WILL ENSURE THAT THE BRAKE OVERRIDES THE ACCELERATOR IN THE EVENT BOTH BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDALS ARE APPLIED. TOYOTA WILL BEGIN MAILING LETTERS TO OWNERS ON DECEMBER 31, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TOYOTA AT 1-800-331-4331, LEXUS AT 1-800-255-3987.

As a fellow 'empty nester', I can confidently say that this small V8 performance vehicle is the perfect choice for those seeking a comfortable and intimate driving experience. With its hard top coupe styling and cozy interior, this vehicle comfortably seats four adults and boasts decent gas mileage, with an impressive 21.5 MPG Hwy. The 60-40 split, flip up rear seat with under seat storage provides ample space for all your camping gear or whatever else you need to securely lock away. Additionally, this vehicle can tow up to 5000lbs, making it a great all-around choice. I personally love the white exterior with graphite bucket seats and console - it looks great and I always receive compliments on it. It's like having a traveling office!

Your truck has loads of power and a silky shifting 6 speed tranny. The MPG has stayed around 16 overall with about 30% of your driving in the city. The truck steers and tracks exceptionally well and acceleration is effortless. Overall, the ride quality is good, and the nav/JBL with Bluetooth has been a real pleasure to use. The backup camera is also very helpful in a truck this size.

Just turned 10,000 miles and I am still just as pleased with this truck as the day I picked it up. I had taken it in for the gas pedal recall and also had the radio replaced, but other than that, this is the best truck I've ever owned. After owning 3 Chevy's and Dodges, I'm so glad I listened to my mechanic when he said that Dodge, GM and Ford make pretty good trucks, but they're not a Tundra!

I had the V8 in a 05 Tundra and got better mileage than this one with a 6 cyl but it has the power. If you get the V8 you will get 2 or 3 mpg better at least. I think I will wait for the hybrid when I get a new one. I really love this truck and the reg cab looks tougher than the dbl or crew

This is my first Toyota truck and unfortunately, it will probably be my last. While it does a good job of pulling my horse trailer, I have had some issues with it. The Tundra has had trouble holding an alignment, which has caused me to replace my tires more frequently than I would like. The radio has also had some issues, turning off and on by itself. I am disappointed that the dealer has not been able to fix the alignment problem, even after taking it to another tire place. Despite these issues, I still appreciate the Tundra's ability to pull my horse trailer.

I have to say, I was a bit surprised when I had to replace the rear wheel bearing, left intake manifold, and head gaskets on my vehicle. I've never had to do any of this on any of my previous vehicles. However, I did pull a 2000 lb popup camper for about 6000 miles over a 4 year period, so I guess it's not too surprising. I highly recommend doing research on owner forums and speaking to mechanics before making a purchase.

I recently drove the biggest truck I've ever been in and it was quite an experience! It felt like driving a school bus due to its size, but I loved the Big V8 and Big brake. The truck was surprisingly quiet and handled the roads very well. The only downside was that it used a lot of gas, getting around 14-18MPG on mixed driving. Unfortunately, it's becoming too expensive to fill up the gas tank, so I may have to trade it in for a Tacoma or take out a second home equity loan. I'm amazed at how so many people can afford to drive a Big V8 every day, but unfortunately, it's not feasible for me at this time.

The Tundra is a powerful truck, but my personal experience with it has been disappointing. Unfortunately, I have had to spend about $4,500.00 on repairs before reaching 80,000 miles due to issues such as the radio, door lock actuators, and oil and water pump leaks. While I cannot recommend this particular vehicle based on my experience, I acknowledge that others may have had a different experience.

Firstly, I'm happy to report that this truck with the 5.7L engine gets great MPG, with 21 on the highway and 15 in the city when unloaded. However, when it comes to towing my 5800 lbs travel trailer to and from the NC Mountains during the spring, summer and fall months, I've had some challenges. Despite purchasing the 5.7L, SR5, extended cab with the tow package, we experienced some reverberation and bouncing on our first trip to Boon, NC, which seems to be a common issue. Additionally, we noticed some shifting between 5th and 6th gear on straight roads, which has also been discussed in this forum. Lastly, it's worth noting that the truck dents quite easily.

Hi there! I'm a big fan of Toyota and have owned several of their vehicles over the years. When I purchased my 2008 Tundra, I was really excited to add it to my collection. Unfortunately, I did experience some issues with the truck's acceleration and transmission, which made driving it a bit unpredictable and even dangerous at times. Despite bringing it to two different dealerships, the issue was never fully resolved, which was disappointing. Additionally, I had some trouble with the radio and aux input, which took a while to get fixed. I also had an issue with a bedliner that I purchased from the dealer, which ended up cracking prematurely. While these issues were frustrating, I still appreciate the quality and reliability of Toyota vehicles overall. Thanks for listening to my experience!Although Toyota generally produces good vehicles, I had a negative experience with a lemon and unfortunately, they and their dealerships were not helpful in resolving the issue. I would rate the Tundra 2-3 stars, but my experience with Toyota as a company was zero stars. Since 2008, I have purchased vehicles from Honda and Hyundai, and I am currently considering an F150 to replace my Tundra. While I still drive the same truck in 2017, I have experienced ongoing transmission issues that make it unsuitable for daily use. However, it performs well on the highway. I have since purchased a Tesla and I am very happy with it. Although I will not be purchasing any more Toyotas, I am glad that there are many good alternatives available with excellent customer support.
