2019 Toyota Camry problems
The Toyota Camry (/ˈkæmri/; Japanese: トヨタ・カムリ Toyota Kamuri) is an automobile sold internationally by the Japanese auto manufacturer Toyota since 1982, spanning multiple generations. Originally compact in size (narrow-body), the Camry has grown since the 1990s to fit the mid-size classification (wide-body)—although the two widths co-existed in that decade. Since the release of the wide-bodied versions, Camry has been extolled by Toyota as the firm's second "world car" after the Corolla. As of 2022, the Camry is positioned above the Corolla and below the Avalon or Crown in several markets.
In Japan, Camry was once exclusive to Toyota Corolla Store retail dealerships. Narrow-body cars also spawned a rebadged sibling in Japan, the Toyota Vista (トヨタ・ビスタ)—also introduced in 1982 and sold at Toyota Vista Store locations. Diesel fuel versions have previously retailed at Toyota Diesel Store. The Vista Ardeo was a wagon version of the Vista V50.
Etymology
The name "Camry" derives from the Japanese word kanmuri (ja:冠, かんむり), meaning "crown". This follows Toyota's naming tradition of using the crown name for primary models starting with the Toyota Crown (1955), continuing with the Toyota Corona (1957) and Corolla (1966); the Latin words for "crown" and "small crown", respectively. Maintaining this theme was the Toyota Tiara (1960) named after the "tiara" form of crown. The Atara trim level name used on the Camry in Australia since 2011 means "crown" in Hebrew. The rebadged Camry variant for Japan, the Toyota Scepter (1991)—took its name from "scepter", a royal accessory to a crown.

Common 2019 Toyota Camry problems
The 2019 Toyota Camry has been reported to have several common problems, primarily related to the transmission system and fuel pump.
Transmission issues are a significant concern for Camry owners, with many reporting sudden acceleration problems, hesitation, and difficulty changing gears. These issues can result in a delayed response when pressing the accelerator pedal, causing a lag of around five seconds before the vehicle starts to accelerate. This can be dangerous, especially when pulling out of a side street or setting off from a stoplight. While no recall has been issued to address this specific issue, it is crucial to have the vehicle checked by a professional mechanic to ensure safety.
Another common problem with the 2019 Toyota Camry is related to the fuel pump. A recall was issued in November 2021 for up to 227,490 vehicles due to a broken vane cap inside the brake system vacuum pump, which could cause the vehicle to lose braking assistance, making it incredibly difficult to slow or stop the vehicle. This issue has been addressed with a free replacement of the brake system vacuum pump.
Additionally, fuel pump failure has been a widespread issue across 2019 Toyota models, including the Camry. This problem could cause the vehicle to stall unexpectedly, which prompted two separate recalls to replace the vehicle's fuel pump.
While the Camry has earned a reputation for reliability over the years, the 2019 model has been subject to seven recalls, with 181 complaints received by the NHTSA. Of these complaints, 68 relate to the fuel system, with owners reporting unexpected stalling when pulling out into traffic or setting off from the lights. This issue is widespread across 2019 Toyota models and has affected numerous Toyota and Lexus models, including the Camry.
In summary, the 2019 Toyota Camry has been reported to have several common problems, primarily related to the transmission system and fuel pump. These issues can cause sudden acceleration problems, hesitation, difficulty changing gears, and unexpected stalling. While no recall has been issued for the transmission issues, it is crucial to have the vehicle checked by a professional mechanic to ensure safety. The fuel pump issues have been addressed with recalls and free replacements of the fuel pump.

The 2018 generation Camry, while still a very good car, appears to be designed for a projected life of 225,000 miles rather than the previous 350,000 miles. It has more minuscule electronic/tech parts and features that may be delicate. However, the car's outstanding strength is its great gas mileage. The LE model gets something like the official 28 city/39 highway estimate and is likely to get you 600 miles on a long highway trip on one tank of gas. That's an important metric, especially when driving for long hours without having to stop at a gas station. While some may find the various safety features unhelpful and even a safety distraction, it's important to note that they are designed to promote safety and reduce accidents. The dynamic cruise control may take some getting used to, but it's a useful feature that can help prevent accidents. Overall, the Camry is a practical and quality car that is sure to appeal to a wide range of buyers. The 'lane departure alert' constantly beeps with different tense melodies, seemingly every time you change lanes or make the slightest evasive maneuver. It can be distracting and everyone in your car wants to know what is going on every few minutes. Thankfully, you can deactivate this feature once you iterate through the annoying adjustments to change the volume of the warning beeps. One area where Toyota could improve is driver seat comfort - the material is still too thin and harsh for longer rides. I noticed my leg undersides getting sore in 1-2 hours. However, for short rides, e.g. less than 1-2 hours, it is okay. On the other hand, handling, braking, and smoothness of ride are superb on this car! The storage pockets and cubbins on this car are ample and versatile and improved over the previous version. However, the sliding lid under the console is not simple to use, umbrellas don't quite fit in the door holder compartments, and the glove compartment is offset at an angle that makes it difficult to approach. The console center storage is large and versatile - not organized, but at least you have room to put things there. The Entune system can be complicated, has redundant and unnecessary iterations, and seems amateurish. Because of this, it can tempt one to distracted driving. However, Bluetooth linkage with one's iPhone works well and the sound quality through the stereo speakers is very clear. After burying the clock in the last generation Camry, it now seems the clock shows up in three places at the same time, mostly in too-small print. Just give me back the simple dash-mounted clock. The bottom line is that this car has regressed slightly, from 4.5 to 4 stars, but it is still a very good car. The focus on the next re-do should be simplicity and practicality of 'safety' features and Entune, as well as driver's seat comfort.

The Camry XLE looks great and the interior is really comfortable. The safety features are top-notch and the panoramic glass roof is a really enjoyable feature. The trunk space is more than adequate and the driver's seat is really comfortable. Apple play is a very useful feature that I really appreciate. Although I was disappointed that there is no memory feature for the driver's seat position, it's still an excellent vehicle overall.

The 4-cycle engine of this car is great, but there is some noise during startup that goes away after about 15 to 30 seconds. After a minute or so, another noise comes and goes away. I was told at Cox Toyota that it's the car system doing a self-emissions check, which is normal and happens each time you start the car after about 5 minutes of turning it off. However, there is a lag in the transmission at times during quick stops and goes, and it feels like the transmission is not sure what gear to catch, so it snatches a little and accelerates rapidly. Other than that, it's a great car that is worth the price. I got the 2019 Camry XSE Windchill Pearl with red interior, and it looks great with the legal limit tint and 19-inch wheels. Toyota worked hard on this one, and I give them credit for that!

I was a bit surprised to see all the complaints about this car. Personally, I've driven it for about 25000 miles and while I understand the frustration with the entertainment system not working seamlessly with your phone and the headlights not going quite far enough on the road, I still find it to be a comfortable and sporty-looking car. As an average-sized 5-9 man, I really appreciate the leather-wrapped steering and the smooth transmission on the highway. The car is very stable at high speeds and handles turns really smoothly. The suspension is well-designed and the engine runs really well. While the doors may sound a bit cheap when closing, this seems to be a common issue with most cars these days. Overall, I think this car is a great value for the price I paid, which was around 23500 for a 2019 model. By the way, I change my own oil at about four thousand miles using Mobil 1 synthetic 0w 20 and a Wix oil filter. I highly recommend it!I have no complaints about the engine noise, it sounds like a proper engine, and the road noise is minimal. However, it would be great if there was sound deadening material inside the driver's and passenger doors. I am not comfortable taking everything apart to install it. I wish the SE model had high-speed charging capabilities from the USB port for my phone, but I found a high-speed charging cigarette lighter charger on Amazon for only $13, and it works great. I also wish it was possible to completely disable eco mode on the SE model and permanently disable the traction control and Lane assist beeping. I do wish it had a beeping noise when reversing and something is in the way, and I wish it had fog lights. I am sure I can have aftermarket fog lights installed for not very much money. The stereo sounds great, and it has never disconnected from my phone. The air conditioner works great, and it regulates the temperature very nicely. I have zero complaints about the paint; all you have to do is put wax on it. The tires are really good and showing very little wear. The rims are really nice, and it has plastic skid plates underneath the entire car to protect all the parts of the car. If you do drive up onto something, those can be replaced fairly easily. All the complaints I had about my Hyundai Elantra have been fixed by getting this car. It has plenty of power, and the air conditioner and stereo work better. The engine is obviously more reliable. New cars are just not as solid as they used to be, but for the money, this is probably the best car on the market. Even with a little bit of lag at slow speeds, I am sure that will be fixed in no time. You will appreciate this car on the highway; it handles the bumps really well.

I leased my Camry LE about two weeks ago. I've already put about 600 miles of mixed driving on it. The car shifts smoothly, and the V4 engine provides adequate power and excellent fuel economy. The ride is smooth and comfortable. In city driving, it's easy to handle, with a small turning radius that makes it easy to park and maneuver. On the highway, I get over 40 mpg at 75 mph. The adaptive cruise control really works well to maintain a safe following distance in busy traffic. The seats were comfortable during a 3.5 hour drive. I also appreciate all of the basic safety systems on my car. The auto dimming brights respond quickly and the sensors pick up just about anything (including the lights on a house at a T intersection). The lane departure system works well. I haven't yet tested the pedestrian detection system (thankfully). The backup camera works well and has a crisp image. Overall, I'm very happy with my car so far!

Hi there! I wanted to share some of the features of my car with you. It has a panoramic sunroof, bird's eye view, full-up technology package with JBL sound system and heads-up display, front and back parking sensors, and driver assist package. I've been driving this car for over a year now and it was wonderful in the beginning! However, I have noticed a few issues with it lately. For example, the adhesive Toyota uses to adhere the weather seal around the panoramic sunroof melted due to the summer heat in Las Vegas. But, the dealership was quick to replace it under warranty. I have also noticed some issues with acceleration, but the Toyota Service Department is currently looking into it. Despite these issues, the car is definitely comfortable to drive, especially with the inflatable lumbar support for the driver. Thanks for listening!I was hoping that the car would provide me with the necessary support to drive long distances without any pain, but unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations. The wireless phone charger dock is not very useful unless you have a phone or phone case that is sticky, and I was disappointed that I had to buy an Apple phone to use all the technology features in the car. I have been a Samsung person for over 10 years and I refuse to switch to an iPhone. However, the Amazon Music app through the car has terrible sound quality, so I just stream music from my phone through Bluetooth, and the sound system is impressive. The trunk is spacious, and the ability to lay the back seats down allows for larger/longer items to be transported. Although, the opening for the trunk does not allow for bulky items to be loaded into the trunk. I was expecting more from the 2019 Camry XSE 2.5L 4-cylinder after driving a fully loaded 2012 Camry SE 3.5L V6 for 7 years. I miss my older Camry and I am already looking at purchasing a different car. Despite this, I still appreciate the flashy beauty of the car.

The car has some visibility issues, such as small headlights for night driving and a rear window that is partially blocked by high headrests. Additionally, the heating strips in the rear window do not fully defrost the window due to the upper space being used for the radio antenna. The visor extender on the driver's side is also blocked by the roof design, requiring it to be pulled over the rearview mirror to use. The seats are lower and have less headroom than the older design, which may feel confining for some drivers. Furthermore, the car frame by the doors recedes, causing rain and snow to wet the seat when the doors are opened. While the trunk is wide, it is not as deep as the previous version, which may require suitcases to be laid sideways. Overall, the test drive was disappointing.

I used to own a Toyota Camry and had a great experience with it, which led me to purchase a 2019 Camry. Unfortunately, I have been experiencing some issues with the car. There have been transmission issues since day 1, as well as problems with the bluetooth/stereo and navigation system. Additionally, I have noticed a safety issue where the car won't accelerate/downshift for about 5-10 seconds when changing to a faster lane in stop and go traffic. I have raised these concerns with Toyota, but unfortunately, they have not been able to provide a solution yet. I would recommend bringing up any issues with your Service Advisor and keeping track of them in case you need to file for arbitration. It's important to note that Toyota is aware of these issues and is working to provide a fix. I am disappointed with my experience with Toyota and will not be purchasing from them again. I encountered some issues with my car and had to file under the 'Lemon Law'. Despite the dealership telling me that there was nothing wrong with the car and no codes stored, I still experienced problems with a miss. During the discovery process of the lemon law case, it was revealed that there were codes stored, including a miss in the #2 cylinder and multiple misses. It is important to be aware that not everything the dealership says is accurate, and they may not want to fix an issue if it is intermittent. Thank you for your understanding.

Like many other commenters, this is probably my 6th or 7th Toyota, but my 3rd Camry. I was surprised when the transmission shifted with a huge jerk!!! My 2009 Camry was amazing. I am truly disappointed with the driving capability of the car, but I love the styling and interior. I am not a fan of the Entune system. Frankly, it doesn't work. I hope Toyota recalls and fixes these transmission problems to keep their customers happy!!!

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with the 2019 Camry LE that I bought brand new in November 2018. Overall, I've had a pretty good experience with the car. During the warranty period, the only repair it needed was an engine software update for slow acceleration. While the transmission did need to be replaced at 102,000 miles, I've found that the car is comfortable, roomy, handles well, and gets great miles per gallon. On highway trips, I frequently get 35.5 miles per gallon, which I think is really impressive for a non-hybrid, gasoline powered, midsize sedan with a listed curb weight of 3,300 pounds. Of course, there are some downsides to the car as well. The acceleration was slower than expected until the transmission was replaced with a factory remanufactured one, and the engine and transmission noise is a bit pronounced, as is the road noise. Additionally, the safety alerts can be frequent and largely unnecessary. However, all things considered, I believe that this sedan is a fair front wheel drive option for the 2019 model year. Thanks for reading!
