The Daewoo Magnus is a mid-sized sedan developed and manufactured by Daewoo for model years 2000-2006 under a single generation, and marketed globably by GM Daewoo and other General Motors divisions, as well as GMDAT stake holder Suzuki. Developed under its internal Daewoo designation V200, the Magnus was marketed prominently in the United States as the Suzuki Verona.

The V200 is a successor to the Daewoo Leganza (model V100), used a larger chassis of its platform. Launched in 23 November, it was sold alongside the Leganza in Korea until the end of V100's production in 2002, when it also superseded it in export markets. The V200 itself was given an extensive facelift for 2006, which resulted in the model known as V250, or Daewoo Tosca in Korea. The V250 completely superseded all versions of the V200 during 2006.

The Evanda comes equipped with the Daewoo-developed XK6 inline-6 engine (DOHC 24V, 155 hp (116 kW) at 5800 rpm, 177 lb⋅ft (240 N⋅m) of torque at 4000 rpm – Canadian specification) or a Holden-built 2.0 L D-TEC inline-4 (DOHC 16V) carried over from the Leganza. ItalDesign of Italy was responsible for the styling and design of both the Leganza and Magnus. However, the upcoming V250 was styled in Korea by GM Daewoo.

Common 2006 Suzuki Verona problems

The Suzuki Verona, produced from 2004 to 2006, is known for several common problems based on complaints from owners. Here are the main issues:

  • Sloppy Handling: The car's handling was described as unresponsive and less than ideal, which can make driving less enjoyable and potentially more challenging in certain situations.
  • Mediocre Crash-Test Scores: The Verona did not perform well in crash tests, which could be a concern for those prioritizing safety.
  • Heavy Wind Noise: Some owners reported high levels of wind noise during driving, which can be distracting and uncomfortable.
  • Low-Grade Interior Materials: The Verona's interior materials were criticized for being cheap and low-quality, which can affect the overall driving experience.
  • Lack of Side Curtain Airbags: The absence of side curtain airbags was noted as a shortcoming, which could be a safety concern for some buyers.
  • Engine Running Erratically: Some owners reported that the engine would run erratically when first started on cool mornings, which could indicate a problem with the engine management system.
  • Early Quality Problems: The Verona suffered from early quality problems, which likely contributed to its poor sales performance and discontinuation after the 2006 model year.
  • Undersized Engine: The Verona's engine was considered undersized, which could lead to poor performance and lower resale values compared to more established competitors.
  • PCM Software Update Available: 20 people have reported issues with the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) software, which could indicate a need for software updates or repairs.

These common problems with the Suzuki Verona should be considered when evaluating the car as a potential purchase. While the Verona has some positive aspects, such as a strong warranty and a long list of standard features, its weak engine performance, sloppy handling, and mediocre crash-test scores make it a less desirable choice for many buyers.

Negative 2006 Suzuki Verona car reviews

  1. Izaiah Zulauf 2025-11-03

I bought the car at 30k miles after an old lady had it. I got it for a great deal and thought I had made a smart purchase. However, within the first week, my TPMS light was going off with 40 lbs of air in each tire. Despite this, I drove it to college (700 miles) over 10 times. While at college, my car started jerking and pulling, and I found out that I had to replace my intake. Although it was expensive, I got it replaced and everything was good. Unfortunately, about a day later, the jerking started again. It would stall out at lights, go low (300) rpm, and jump to 6000 rpm. This would spin my tires and even fight my brakes, causing me to have an accident with a 2011 Lexus (not good). I got it repaired and found that the wire connectors were loose.

  2. Elmo Emard 2025-10-16

I initially fell in love with this car when I saw it on the lot, and my excitement only grew when I saw the price tag. Unfortunately, my experience with the car has not been as positive as I had hoped. From week one, the car has had a number of issues and has been a bit of a lemon. I began taking the car to the Suzuki dealership myself after the dealer I purchased it from struggled to get a power outlet fuze replaced under the Suzuki warranty in a timely manner. While I have spent a significant amount of time at the nearest Suzuki dealership having various parts replaced, including the oxy-sensors, ECU, ignition lock, wheel lock, and many smaller sensors, unfortunately, the bumper-to-bumper warranty has now expired and I am left with a car that is still not functioning as it should.

  3. Abelardo Buckridge 2025-08-04

You get a lot for your money with this car. The ride is smooth and quiet, and it handles well on the curves. Plus, the interior is plush and comfortable. It's a great car for the price!

  4. Alek Harber 2025-07-24

The Suzuki Verona has experienced several issues, including stalling. Despite this, Suzuki has not taken responsibility for the problem. It is my belief that the car is unsafe, and I am not alone in this assessment.

  5. Garnet Haley 2025-07-23

Although there have been some issues with this car, I am confident that they can be resolved. The cruise control and ABS system may require some repairs, but with the right expertise, they can be fixed. Additionally, the CD player and gas cap can be easily replaced. I understand your frustration, but I assure you that this car has the potential to be a reliable vehicle with the proper care and attention.

Positive 2006 Suzuki Verona car reviews

  1. Jamel Rutherford 2025-11-21

I really like this car. I purchased the Verona after owning a Nissan Altima (which I adored) for 6 years. The number of features available for such a low price is truly amazing. Mine is fully loaded and an absolute pleasure to drive. There is plenty of legroom and the automatic driver's seat is fantastic. It also gets pretty decent gas mileage for a V-6 - I get 30 even when driving around in the mountains. In conclusion, if you are looking for a great car with lots of features but without breaking the bank, the Verona is an excellent choice. The 100,000 mile warranty is also fantastic, even though I hardly ever need to use it!

  2. Dan Quigley 2025-11-13

A great car for the money! I'm so glad to hear that you love it. It looks and feels fantastic, doesn't it?

  3. Ben Beahan 2025-11-06

Suzuki is on to something with the Verona and Camry and Accord better take notice! This car really impressed me. The acceleration may be a bit slow off the line, but who's looking to race? Not me, my kids are riding with me. I fell in love with this car and am looking forward to enjoying it for many years to come. Suzuki, keep the innovations and power coming, and you will see this car soar!

  4. Imani Keebler 2025-10-25

I really enjoy this car overall. It's a lot of fun to drive and has great appeal. The only issue I have encountered is finding parts, especially since I like to do some of the work myself. Even auto shops seem to have trouble finding the necessary parts, such as air filters. However, despite this setback, I still think it's a great car and I haven't had any major problems with it. Overall, I would rate it an eight out of ten.

  5. Jefferey Schinner 2025-09-28

Our '05 was purchased as a demo with 6,500 miles on it. It runs incredibly smoothly and, despite a few minor issues, we have no significant complaints. While the city gas mileage could be improved, we achieve a respectable 30-32 mpg on the highway. The city mileage is around 23 mpg. The only area for improvement is the sound system, which we believe Suzuki could have designed to a higher standard.
