suzuki logo

The Suzuki Kizashi is a mid-size car manufactured by Japanese automaker Suzuki. It was unveiled in the United States on July 30, 2009. The Kizashi went on sale in Japan on October 21, 2009, in North America on December 1, 2009, and in Australia and New Zealand on May 11, 2010. It is the first mid-size Suzuki automobile sold in the Australian market. In February 2011, the Kizashi became available to the Indian market. The car was also available in European markets.

In December 2013, Suzuki announced that the Kizashi would be gradually discontinued in global markets, and would not get a successor. In December 2014, the production of the car ceased in the Sagara plant. Despite a good technical record, the car had suffered from poor sales because of the global financial crisis and Suzuki's withdrawal from the American and Canadian markets in 2013 and 2014, respectively.

Etymology

Kizashi (In kanji: 兆) is a Japanese word which means "something great is coming", "omen", "sign", or "warning".

Common 2013 Suzuki Kizashi problems

Based on the information gathered from the sources provided, here is a list of common problems with the 2013 Suzuki Kizashi based on complaints from owners:

  • CVT Problems: Owners reported problems with the continuously variable transmissions (CVT) in the Suzuki Kizashi, especially in hot weather conditions. The CVT could start to act erratically, leading to issues with the transmission. Suzuki issued a Technical Service Bulletin recommending a CVT fluid change every 50,000km to address these problems.
  • Headlight Issues: The 2012 Suzuki Kizashi had the most overall complaints, with one of the most reported problems being headlights that stop working. This issue could potentially affect visibility and safety while driving.
  • Occupant Classification System (OCS) Failures: The OCS in the 2010-2013 Kizashi and 2006-2013 Grand Vitara experienced failures due to stress cracks caused by heat, leading to electrical issues. When the OCS fails to detect passengers correctly, it can impact the proper deployment of airbags, posing a safety risk.
  • Other Reported Problems: Some other reported problems include clutch failure, loose steering, paint peeling off rims, poor alignment causing premature tire wear, and poor quality wheels and materials. These issues highlight various concerns that owners have faced with the Suzuki Kizashi models from 2010 to 2013.

These common problems with the 2013 Suzuki Kizashi highlight a range of issues that owners have encountered, emphasizing the importance of proper maintenance and awareness of potential issues to ensure the longevity and safety of the vehicle.

Why did Maruti Suzuki Kizashi fail?

Maruti Suzuki launched Suzuki Kizashi in the Indian market in 2011. It failed to capture the Indian market because of its brand image, pricing approach, and upgradation before time (missed out on the diesel engine option). Kizashi suffered as a result of poor timing and management.

What is the problem with the Suzuki Kizashi 2012?

(Suzuki) is recalling certain model year 2010-2013 Kizashi vehicles manufactured October 2009 through July 2012. In the affected vehicles, spiders may weave a web in the evaporative canister vent hose, blocking it and causing the fuel tank to have an excessive amount of negative pressure.

What is the fuel consumption of a 2013 Kizashi?

The Suzuki Kizashi 2013 offers fuel consumption ranging from 7.9 to 8.4 L/100km. What is the Suzuki Kizashi 2013 warranty period? Suzuki Kizashi 2013 offers a 3 year, 100000 kilometre warranty.

Why did Suzuki stop making the Kizashi?

In December 2014, the production of the car ceased in the Sagara plant. Despite a good technical record, the car had suffered from poor sales because of the global financial crisis and Suzuki's withdrawal from the American and Canadian markets in 2013 and 2014, respectively.

Negative 2013 Suzuki Kizashi car reviews

  1. Casimir Hill 2025-01-05

This car was one of the first to have push-to-start technology, which was still being developed at the time. While I owned this car, I faced some frustrating moments when the dashboard error code caused the on/off engine button to malfunction, resulting in the car not starting. However, apart from this minor issue, I loved this car. Unfortunately, after just three months of owning it, the entire transmission failed. The cost of repairing it, including sourcing a used one, was more than what I had paid for the car, so it was essentially totaled. I have owned cars with conventional automatic transmissions my whole life and have never had a transmission problem. This was my first CVT car, and within three months, the transmission failed. If CVTs are not properly maintained, they can fail. I have given this car a one-star review for its operating issues, and it is now sitting in a junkyard. It is a shame because if this car had a normal automatic transmission, I am sure the little 4-cylinder motor would have run just fine for ages. I loved the little button that allowed me to switch from FWD to AWD, the sound system, the seats, and the styling. Beware of the CVT version of this car.

Positive 2013 Suzuki Kizashi car reviews

This car is great! The team at Suzuki of Manchester were so helpful and answered all of my questions, even the ones I didn't know I had! I love the way the car feels while driving on city streets, and it looks luxurious - especially with me inside it! ;)

  2. Vincent Dooley 2024-11-05

You won't find a better car for this price! The interior feels like it's worth 10k more. The materials are really nice, although I do wish that the GTS manual had leather available as an option. The cloth seats are still really good quality though. Even to this day, the car turns heads and people always ask about it. If I took off the Suzuki badges, people would think I'm filthy rich! The guy at the car wash even sat in it for a good 2 minutes checking it out. Honestly, I'm kind of glad the car isn't selling very well. I don't want it to become just another Sonata, people are already bored with its looks.

Hello! I just wanted to share my experience with my car. I've had it for three months now and I must say, it's been a great ride! It's amazing how safe it is, even safer than a Volvo. Plus, it's just as responsive and sporty as a BMW or Audi, but much more affordable. I'm surprised that it's not more well-known in America, but I think that's because of the lack of advertising. The warranty is great and it's so much fun to drive. Everywhere I go, people turn their heads to look at it. The build quality, fit, finish, and all the little details and gadgets that Suzuki included are really impressive. I highly recommend taking it for a test drive, even if you're only considering more expensive European cars. Thank you for reading!

I bought this vehicle last month as it was one of the only ones my wife and I did not reject. I really love this car! It has been treating me well! It handles very well, has AWD (mine does anyways), looks nice and is super spacious and comfortable! We knew the moment we heard the engine and sat in the comfortable seats that we wanted this car! It's pretty quick, has decent mileage, and it's just a really good solid car so far! I'm happy I bought it! Can't wait to see how it performs in the snow!

  5. Nathanael Runolfsdottir 2024-09-11

We recently purchased our second new car, after having owned many second-hand cars over the years. Unfortunately, we had to sell our 12-year-old Nissan Pulsar SLX due to a car accident that left me with a broken back. The seating position of the Pulsar was no longer suitable for me, and I needed a vehicle with a higher, more ergonomically correct seat. Although we were sad to see the Pulsar go, we were excited to explore newer models. My requirements centered around my physical needs, but I also wanted the latest technology, fuel economy that was at least as good as the 1600cc Nissan Pulsar auto we'd just sold, and value for money. We were specifically looking for an automatic car, which ruled out some otherwise excellent options like the Ford Fiesta Econetic and the Toyota Rav4 diesel. After careful consideration, we found that the small cars of today are excellent vehicles, with the Honda City being the best overall and the Swift being the best value for money. It's no wonder the Swift is New Zealand's best-selling small car!In the early running, I also considered the Honda Insight hybrid. Although I liked it, my wife found the passenger seat uncomfortable and the split window disconcerting. Despite having the lowest running costs, even when Road User Charges (RUCs) were taken into account, the Insight dropped off the list. I briefly looked at SUVs, but they were going to cost the same as medium-sized petrol cars to run, so I decided to look at the medium car market instead. The Suzuki SX4i AWD is a unique and great wee SUV with comfort, features, and power, but it let itself down on wind and engine noise. It's a shame because otherwise, I would have bought it! It was amazing to realize that the new cars with 2.4lt engines could equal the Pulsar for fuel economy while being a lot bigger and more powerful! I compared the Ford Mondeo Titanium Hatch diesel, the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord Euro, Hyundai i45, VW Passat, and the Suzuki Kizashi Ltd. and Sport. The Camry was the first to go as it was dearer and less economical, and while the ride and seating were comfortable, it was very plain-Jane. It was also a run-out model, due to be replaced with an all-new one. The VW was too dear, as was the Honda Accord. The Hyundai was my early favorite for technology, style, economy, features, and seemed good value. It was perfect in driving position and nearly took the prize. Until I tried the Kizashi... What can I say? I run out of superlatives to describe this car!All our friends love it, especially the colour, and my wife doesn't want to get out of it. The heated seats and dual-zone climate air were the clincher for her, as was the colour and tints which set the car off beautifully! We look forward to many years of service from what has to be the best mid-sized car on the road today!
