Suzuki Kizashi problems

The Suzuki Kizashi is a mid-size car manufactured by Japanese automaker Suzuki. It was unveiled in the United States on July 30, 2009. The Kizashi went on sale in Japan on October 21, 2009, in North America on December 1, 2009, and in Australia and New Zealand on May 11, 2010. It is the first mid-size Suzuki automobile sold in the Australian market. In February 2011, the Kizashi became available to the Indian market. The car was also available in European markets.
In December 2013, Suzuki announced that the Kizashi would be gradually discontinued in global markets, and would not get a successor. In December 2014, the production of the car ceased in the Sagara plant. Despite a good technical record, the car had suffered from poor sales because of the global financial crisis and Suzuki's withdrawal from the American and Canadian markets in 2013 and 2014, respectively.
Etymology
Kizashi (In kanji: 兆) is a Japanese word which means "something great is coming", "omen", "sign", or "warning".

What year should I avoid Suzuki Kizashi?
Summary: Suzuki Motor of America, Inc. (Suzuki) is recalling certain 2010-2013 Suzuki Kizashi vehicles. Dust can enter the vent line that provides fresh air to the carbon canister, restricting its air flow and possibly creating excessive negative pressure in the fuel tank which may result in the fuel tank cracking.
Why did Suzuki Kizashi fail?
Maruti Suzuki launched Suzuki Kizashi in the Indian market in 2011. It failed to capture the Indian market because of its brand image, pricing approach, and upgradation before time (missed out on the diesel engine option). Kizashi suffered as a result of poor timing and management.

He recommends that I go back to the dealer and ask for a refund of the money or change of vehicle, since the owner omitted the true fault of the vehicle, I ask him the return or exchange and there was a refusal to return the money and change the vehicle, leaving me with a newly purchased unused vehicle, it was explained to the owner that the vehicle does not pass emissions. The vehicle cannot be fixed since it is a discontinued brand of vehicle and there are no spare parts.

- Date Complaint: 2024-01-25
- VIN: JS2RE9A5XA6
- Components: AIR BAGS,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: I have received multiple recall notifications for problems with air bag on the passenger side, and a fuel tank that Suzuki says may crack. It would be great to have these things taken care of, but the repair providers that Suzuki has authorized are both 3 HOURS away! That means 6 hours total driving time, which is quite unreasonable. Does the NHTSA have any authority to either 1) get Suzuki to authorize a shop a reasonable distance from me, or, 2) have Suzuki reimburse me for recall repairs done at a local facility? I have called Suzuki myself, but they are extremely unhelpful. They made their money when they sold the car, and seem to be extremely unwilling to promote any lasting good will.

- Date Complaint: 2022-09-26
- VIN: JS2RF9A39C6
- Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: There is/are recalls on this vehicle regarding the fuel tank and vacuum lines on the fuel filler neck assembly, which causes check engine warnings that indicate "evap emissions" readouts, leaks during refills, interior gas fumes, and potential explosions. This car is currently leaking fuel during refills (and only during refills), has frequent interior gas fumes, and is also having check engine light evap emissions readouts. On 09/12/22 I contacted Suzuki Motor USA regarding the issue because I had learned of the recalls specific to these issues. Customer Service informed me that the recall work on the vehicle had already been completed and said I would have to pay for further repairs, since the recall work was not guaranteed. Recall work not guaranteed? Even though the symptoms I am experiencing are the exact same problems that initiated the recall. Said vehicle is garage parked and shows no signs of rust or deterioration of rubber or metal. Therefore, I am convinced that the recall repair work was insufficient, improperly completed, or involved defective replacement parts. I am seeking assistance to make Suzuki "properly" complete the recall work on this vehicle.

We bought this car for our very responsible 17 year old son. It looks great, gets good gas mileage, and is fun to drive. Unfortunately, he got into a head-on collision, and the car was totaled, as was the other truck. Thankfully, my son walked out of that car with only minor burns where the airbag hit his arms. We had heard that the safety ratings were good, but we didn't realize just how good! Thank you, Suzuki, for building such a safe car.

Hello! I just wanted to share my experience with this amazing car. I've owned several nice cars in my day, but I always love to try out new and different models, especially if they have great curb appeal. This one caught my eye as soon as I saw it on the road and I had to find out what it was and where to test drive one at. At the time, I was driving a Mustang GT, which is an awesome car in itself. Although this one didn't quite have the GT pep, it was perfect for me. I also owned a Lexus IS 250, and this car reminded me of it almost to a tee. It's very well made, with excellent interior quality and accessories, and the exterior is just awesome (I own a Black metallic one). I've had this car for 2 years now and I absolutely love it!

We recently purchased our second new car, after having owned many second-hand cars over the years. Unfortunately, we had to sell our 12-year-old Nissan Pulsar SLX due to a car accident that left me with a broken back. The seating position of the Pulsar was no longer suitable for me, and I needed a vehicle with a higher, more ergonomically correct seat. Although we were sad to see the Pulsar go, we were excited to explore newer models. My requirements centered around my physical needs, but I also wanted the latest technology, fuel economy that was at least as good as the 1600cc Nissan Pulsar auto we'd just sold, and value for money. We were specifically looking for an automatic car, which ruled out some otherwise excellent options like the Ford Fiesta Econetic and the Toyota Rav4 diesel. After considering several options, we found that the small cars of today are excellent vehicles, with the Honda City being the best overall and the Swift being the best value for money. It's no wonder the Swift is New Zealand's best-selling small car!In the early running, I also considered the Honda Insight hybrid. Although I liked it, my wife found the passenger seat uncomfortable and the split window disconcerting. Despite having the lowest running costs, even when Road User Charges (RUCs) were taken into account, the Insight dropped off the list. I briefly looked at SUVs, but they were going to cost the same as medium-sized petrol cars to run, so I decided to look at the medium car market instead. The Suzuki SX4i AWD is a unique and great wee SUV with comfort, features, and power, but it let itself down on wind and engine noise. It's a shame because otherwise, I would have bought it! It was amazing to realize that the new cars with 2.4lt engines could equal the Pulsar for fuel economy while being a lot bigger and more powerful! I compared the Ford Mondeo Titanium Hatch diesel, the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord Euro, Hyundai i45, VW Passat, and the Suzuki Kizashi Ltd. and Sport. The Camry was the first to go as it was dearer and less economical, and while the ride and seating were comfortable, it was very plain-Jane. It was also a run-out model, due to be replaced with an all-new one. The VW was too dear, as was the Honda Accord. The Hyundai was my early favorite for technology, style, economy, features, and seemed good value. It was perfect in driving position and nearly took the prize. Until I tried the Kizashi... What can I say? I run out of superlatives to describe this car!All our friends love it, especially the colour, and my wife doesn't want to get out of it. The heated seats and dual-zone climate air were the clincher for her, as was the colour and tints which set the car off beautifully! We look forward to many years of service from what has to be the best mid-sized car on the road today!

This car has completely changed my opinion of Suzuki vehicles. I used to own a Suzuki XL-7 4WD Limited, which left much to be desired in many ways. As a result, I traded it in for a Nissan after owning it for a short time while it was still in pretty good condition. I thought I would never buy a Suzuki again. However, by chance, I came across this beautiful car and both my wife and I love it. The look, both interior and exterior, is quite pleasing to the eyes. The ride is smooth and comfortable, and the performance is surprisingly exciting. Not to mention, you get possibly the best bang for your buck. The bottom line is that this is a really great car and definitely worth looking into.

I had a 2004 BMW 330XI that was costing me a fortune in repair bills. However, after much deliberation, I finally decided to go for the Kizashi and I'm so glad I did! I've owned it for six weeks now and I must say, I'm really enjoying it. The exterior styling is distinctive, the interior is plush and comfortable, and it's a lot of fun to drive. The build quality is excellent and it's clear that a lot of thought went into every detail, right down to the tactile feedback of the control buttons on the steering wheel and center stack console. It's amazing that you can get something so rare for under $30k. Of course, it's not a high-end Mercedes or an exotic car, but it's still a lot of car for the money and nobody else seems to have one.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my car. I really love it, but I did run into an issue when it hit 120K. I called the dealer and was told that it has a timing chain instead of a belt, and that I didn't need to worry about changing it. Unfortunately, three weeks later, my chain slipped and now I need a new motor. It's going to cost me either 2700.00 to replace the motor or 2500.00 to fix it. I think it's important for people to know that these cars have chains, but the tension part that keeps it in place can go out, causing some serious issues. Thanks for listening!

This car was one of the first to have push-to-start technology, which was still being developed at the time. While I owned this car, I faced some frustrating moments when the dashboard error code caused the on/off engine button to malfunction, resulting in the car not starting. However, apart from this minor issue, I loved this car. Unfortunately, after just three months of owning it, the entire transmission failed. The cost of repairing it, including sourcing a used one, was more than what I paid for the car, so it was essentially totaled. I have owned cars with conventional automatic transmissions my whole life and have never had a transmission problem. This was my first CVT car, and within three months, the transmission failed. It's important to properly maintain CVT's, or they may fail. I gave this car a one-star review for its operating issues, and it's now sitting in a junkyard. It's a shame because if it had a normal automatic transmission, I'm sure the little 4-cylinder motor would have run just fine for ages. I loved the little button that allowed me to switch from FWD to AWD, the sound system, the seats, and the styling. Beware of the CVT version of this car.

On our way to a day trip 160 miles from home, our 10-day-old car with only 700 miles on it started experiencing issues with gear shifting and high RPMs at low speeds. Despite trying manual mode, the car continued to malfunction and eventually the gas pedal stopped working altogether. We quickly contacted Roadside Assistance and remained confident that the issue would be resolved. Although the closest tow truck was 45 miles away, we remained calm and collected throughout the situation.

This car is great, but Suzuki needs to stand behind all of its work in its warranty. Despite having owned the vehicle for less than two months and not having driven it on a dirt road, it already has numerous paint chips and scratches from rocks. The paint quality is unacceptable. I took it to the dealership where I purchased it, which was 2 1/2 hours away, and the service manager took pictures of every chip. However, even after showing the evidence, Suzuki refused to consider it a paint issue and denied coverage under the warranty. While I still love the car, it is disappointing that the outside appearance is not up to par.
