2011 Suzuki Kizashi problems

The Suzuki Kizashi is a mid-size car manufactured by Japanese automaker Suzuki. It was unveiled in the United States on July 30, 2009. The Kizashi went on sale in Japan on October 21, 2009, in North America on December 1, 2009, and in Australia and New Zealand on May 11, 2010. It is the first mid-size Suzuki automobile sold in the Australian market. In February 2011, the Kizashi became available to the Indian market. The car was also available in European markets.
In December 2013, Suzuki announced that the Kizashi would be gradually discontinued in global markets, and would not get a successor. In December 2014, the production of the car ceased in the Sagara plant. Despite a good technical record, the car had suffered from poor sales because of the global financial crisis and Suzuki's withdrawal from the American and Canadian markets in 2013 and 2014, respectively.
Etymology
Kizashi (In kanji: 兆) is a Japanese word which means "something great is coming", "omen", "sign", or "warning".

O'REILLY, ADVANCE AUTO, AND AUTO ZONE HAVE ALL STATED THAT THEY WOULD BE HAPPY TO SELL ME MORE HEADLIGHTS, BUT IT WOULD NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT SOUNDED MORE LIKE AND ELECTRICAL ISSUE AND UNTIL THAT IS ADDRESSED I WOULD MORE THAN LIKELY HAVE TO REPLACE THE HEADLIGHTS MORE THAN ONCE WITHIN 6 MONTHS. - Summary: Suzuki Motor of America, Inc. (Suzuki) is recalling 2010-2013 Kizashi vehicles. The front passenger seat Occupant Classification System (OCS) may misclassify an adult occupant as child and deactivate the front air bag.
- Consequence: The deactivated front air bag will not deploy in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
- Remedy: Suzuki will notify owners, and service providers will replace the front passenger seat cushion, which includes a new OCS mat assembly, free of charge. - Summary: Suzuki Motor of America, Inc. (Suzuki) is recalling certain 2010-2013 Kizashi and 2006-2013 Grand Vitara vehicles. The front passenger leather seat may shrink due to high humidity and high temperature. As a result, the occupant classification system (OCS) sensor mat may not accurately detect if an adult or child is occupying the seat.
- Consequence: In the event of a crash necessitating airbag deployment, an incorrect classification may result in the passenger frontal air bag deploying even if there is a child in the front passenger seat, increasing their risk of injury.
- Remedy: Suzuki will notify owners, and dealers will replace the seat bottom cushion, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters were mailed on May 3, 2019. All second letters notifying owners of the remedy were mailed by April 10, 2020. Owners may contact Suzuki customer service at 1-800-934-0934. Suzuki's numbers for this recall are 4011 and 4012.

- Consequence: A cracked tank may leak fuel, increasing the risk of a fire.
- Remedy: Suzuki has sent owners an initial notification to inform them of the recall. When parts are available, a second notice will be mailed and dealers will install a cover over the opening near the suction pipe inlet, and relocate the suction filter. The fuel cap and fuel tank will also be replaced with improved parts. The recall began August 12, 2019. Owners may contact Suzuki customer service at 1-800-934-0934.

The shift selector can be moved out of the "Park" position without depressing the brake pedal.
- Consequence: If the shift selector is moved out of the "Park" position while the brake pedal is not depressed, the vehicle may unexpectedly roll, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
- Remedy: Suzuki will notify owners, and dealers will replace the shift selector assembly and inspect, and if necessary, replace the shift knob, free of charge. The recall began January 16, 2015. Owners may contact Suzuki customer service at 1-714-996-7040. Suzuki's number for this recall is VL.

Hello! I just wanted to share my experience with this amazing car. I've owned several nice cars in my day, but I always love to try out new and different models, especially if they have great curb appeal. This one caught my eye as soon as I saw it on the road and I had to find out what it was and where to test drive one at. At the time, I was driving a Mustang GT, which is an awesome car in itself. Although this one didn't quite have the GT pep, it was perfect for me. I also owned a Lexus IS 250, and this car reminded me of it almost to a tee. It's very well made, with excellent interior quality and accessories, and the exterior is just awesome (I own a Black metallic one). I've had this car for 2 years now and I absolutely love it!

We bought this car for our very responsible 17 year old son. It looks great, gets good gas mileage, and is fun to drive. Unfortunately, he got into a head-on collision, and the car was totaled, as was the other truck. Thankfully, my son walked out of that car with only minor burns where the airbag hit his arms. We had heard that the safety ratings were good, but we didn't realize just how good! Thank you, Suzuki, for building such a safe car.

We recently purchased our second new car, after having owned many second-hand cars over the years. Unfortunately, we had to sell our 12-year-old Nissan Pulsar SLX due to a car accident that left me with a broken back. The seating position of the Pulsar was no longer suitable for me, and I needed a vehicle with a higher, more ergonomically correct seat. Although we were sad to see the Pulsar go, we were excited to explore newer models. My requirements centered around my physical needs, but I also wanted the latest technology, fuel economy that was at least as good as the 1600cc Nissan Pulsar auto we'd just sold, and value for money. We were specifically looking for an automatic car, which ruled out some otherwise excellent options like the Ford Fiesta Econetic and the Toyota Rav4 diesel. After considering several options, we found that the small cars of today are excellent vehicles, with the Honda City being the best overall and the Swift being the best value for money. It's no wonder the Swift is New Zealand's best-selling small car!In the early running, I also considered the Honda Insight hybrid. Although I liked it, my wife found the passenger seat uncomfortable and the split window disconcerting. Despite having the lowest running costs, even when Road User Charges (RUCs) were taken into account, the Insight dropped off the list. I briefly looked at SUVs, but they were going to cost the same as medium-sized petrol cars to run, so I decided to look at the medium car market instead. The Suzuki SX4i AWD is a unique and great wee SUV with comfort, features, and power, but it let itself down on wind and engine noise. It's a shame because otherwise, I would have bought it! It was amazing to realize that the new cars with 2.4lt engines could equal the Pulsar for fuel economy while being a lot bigger and more powerful! I compared the Ford Mondeo Titanium Hatch diesel, the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord Euro, Hyundai i45, VW Passat, and the Suzuki Kizashi Ltd. and Sport. The Camry was the first to go as it was dearer and less economical, and while the ride and seating were comfortable, it was very plain-Jane. It was also a run-out model, due to be replaced with an all-new one. The VW was too dear, as was the Honda Accord. The Hyundai was my early favorite for technology, style, economy, features, and seemed good value. It was perfect in driving position and nearly took the prize. Until I tried the Kizashi... What can I say? I run out of superlatives to describe this car!All our friends love it, especially the colour, and my wife doesn't want to get out of it. The heated seats and dual-zone climate air were the clincher for her, as was the colour and tints which set the car off beautifully! We look forward to many years of service from what has to be the best mid-sized car on the road today!

The Kizashi was one of the cars on my short list to test drive, along with the new Optima. After driving the Optima first, I got in the Kizashi and was immediately impressed. This car is so much fun to drive, and the design and quality of the interior are top-notch. Everywhere I go, people compliment its looks. The power is more than adequate for my needs, and it's actually larger than it appears in pictures. While the rear seat room is a bit less than most competitors, four adults can still fit comfortably. The seats are well-shaped and supportive, even in the back, which is a big improvement over the Optima's rear seat that felt low, flat, and dark.

I recently traded my '09 Mazda6 for the Kizashi, and I must say, I am thoroughly impressed! The Kizashi outperforms my previous car in every aspect. The car feels incredibly sturdy and well-built, with excellent ergonomics. The interior design and materials are top-notch, giving the impression of a much more expensive car. The gauges are beautiful, especially at night, and the engine is impressively quiet at both idle and cruise, while still providing plenty of power. Although the CVT took some getting used to, it works well, especially at highway speeds. I've been averaging 27 mpg mixed and about 32 mpg highway, which is fantastic. For me, the Kizashi is the perfect size, as many other mid-sized cars have grown too large. I've had a blast driving it, and it's even turned a few heads! Overall, I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my car. I really love it, but I did run into an issue when it hit 120K. I called the dealer and was told that it has a timing chain instead of a belt, and that I didn't need to worry about changing it. Unfortunately, three weeks later, my chain slipped and now I need a new motor. It's going to cost me either 2700.00 to replace the motor or 2500.00 to fix it. I think it's important for people to know that these cars have chains, but the tension part that keeps it in place can go out, causing some serious issues. Thanks for listening!

On our way to a day trip 160 miles from home, our 10-day-old car with only 700 miles on it started experiencing issues with gear shifting and high RPMs at low speeds. Despite trying manual mode, the car continued to malfunction and eventually the gas pedal stopped working altogether. We quickly contacted Roadside Assistance and remained confident that the issue would be resolved. Although the closest tow truck was 45 miles away, we remained calm and collected throughout the situation.

This car is great, but Suzuki needs to stand behind all of its work in its warranty. Despite having owned the vehicle for less than two months and not having driven it on a dirt road, it already has numerous paint chips and scratches from rocks. The paint quality is unacceptable. I took it to the dealership where I purchased it, which was 2 1/2 hours away, and the service manager took pictures of every chip. However, even after showing the evidence, Suzuki refused to consider it a paint issue and denied coverage under the warranty. While I still love the car, it is disappointing that the outside appearance is not up to par.
