2006 Saab 9-2x problems
The Saab 9-2 (sometimes referred to as Saab 9-1) was a small family car that was proposed in February 2010 to have been added to Saab's production line by 2014, under its then new ownership, Spyker Cars though some commentators considered the project a pipe dream.
The 9-2 was thought to developed in a joint venture with another automaker, probably European. Although little is known about the design, those who have seen it report it is the same teardrop shape as the 1949 to 1956 Saab 92, but also futuristic with the front similar to the new Saab 9-5. Saab Managing Director Jan-Åke Jonsson said the model would likely not be on the global GM Gamma platform.
Speculation in August 2009 suggested that the new small Saab would be based on the Saab 9-X Biohybrid concept car, which was shown at the 2008 Geneva Auto Show, and expected to compete with other premium small cars such as the Mini.

Common 2006 Saab 9-2x problems
Based on complaints from owners of the Saab 9-2X 2006, several common problems have been reported:
- Anti-Theft Disabling Function: Owners have experienced issues with the anti-theft disabling function. Malfunctions in this system can lead to difficulties in starting the vehicle or unintended activation of the anti-theft feature, causing inconvenience to the car owner.
- Rear End Whine at 60 mph: A common complaint among owners is a rear end whine at 60 mph. This noise, although considered normal, can be irritating and affect the overall driving experience, potentially indicating issues with the vehicle's differential or gear components.
- Hood Ornament Paint Peeling Off: Some owners have reported the paint peeling off the hood ornament. While this is a cosmetic issue, it can impact the aesthetics of the vehicle and may require repainting or replacement of the affected parts.
- Handle on Rear Hatch Sticking: Another reported problem is the handle on the rear hatch sticking in the open position. This issue can hinder the proper operation of the rear hatch, causing inconvenience when accessing the trunk space.
- Chirper on the Alarm Intermittently Working: Owners have noted that the chirper on the alarm can suddenly start to only work intermittently. This can compromise the security features of the vehicle, potentially leading to concerns about the effectiveness of the alarm system.
- Front OEM Rotors Prone to Warping: There have been reports of front OEM rotors used on the 2005 models being prone to warping. Warped rotors can affect braking performance, leading to vibrations, noise, and reduced braking efficiency, posing a safety risk.
These common problems reported by owners of the Saab 9-2X 2006 highlight various issues ranging from mechanical concerns to cosmetic flaws. Addressing these issues promptly through proper maintenance and repairs is crucial to ensure the vehicle's optimal performance and longevity.

Hi there! I wanted to share my experience with you. Last year, I was on the hunt for a practical AWD compact car that I could use for city driving and occasional road trips. To my surprise, I stumbled upon this turbo Saabaru (which, yes, has an automatic) and it turned out to be the best option by far. When driving around town, it's just as easy to handle as any other compact car, but the turbo ensures that it doesn't lose power on the highway (I'm sure you know what I mean!). But it's not just practicality that makes this car great: being a WRX, it's always ready to play. Once you hit 3500 RPM, it hisses, growls, and takes off like a rocket. It handles curves like a dream (even though it's front-heavy, the grip is amazing). And the best part? You can switch back to casual driving mode once you're done having fun on the road. Thanks for listening!

My wife purchased the 05 9-2x Linear with the cold weather package, including heated seats, windows, leather, and more, at the end of 2004. She uses it as her primary vehicle for her pharma sales job, which requires a lot of driving. Even after driving it for about 180,000 miles, the Subaru quality still shines through. It has only needed new tires and brakes at regular intervals. This car is driven often in the back roads of central Virginia and the Appalachia area of West Virginia. Although it burns a bit of oil and the fog lights have had to be replaced due to sand and rocks thrown from trucks during the winter, it is a quality car that is fun to drive with its 5-speed transmission. I highly recommend it.

I have a 2005 Saab 92x Linear Automatic. I purchased it during the GM employee discount for everybody promotion instead of the Subaru Impreza. Despite having over 266,000 miles, it still runs smoothly. I ensure that it receives a dealer tune-up every year and I change the oil every 5,000 miles. I recently had the rear struts replaced and I am currently having it serviced for three Lug Studs that broke while driving. Unfortunately, I also discovered another broken stud on the front left hub while checking the proper torque on the other lugs. The dealer had previously replaced two studs on the back right rear tire during service about two months ago. Overall, the car has been a reliable and cherished member of my family.

We all know that the 9-2x is a Subaru Impreza. However, it shares components from the WRX, a cult-followed vehicle known for its fun drive and good performance. The Saab offers the same features as the best WRX on all models of the 9-2x. The styling is much improved over the Subaru, especially the 2.5 sport model of the Outback or whatever. With discounts from dealers, it is not too much more than the Subaru but is much better in fit and finish in small details. It is a better performer than the Impreza and equal to the WRX if you opt for the turbo, and a nice in-between if you get the linear.

As a visiting nurse who travels frequently, I have had the pleasure of driving my 92x for quite some time now. It has been a reliable companion on all of my journeys, with no issues to speak of despite having 100,000 miles on the clock. It's a shame that they stopped producing this car after only two years, as it truly is a great vehicle.

The interior of the car is quite simple and unassuming, with few extra features. The seats are designed to be snug, almost like racing seats, which is great for taking tight corners without sliding around. However, those with a larger posterior may find them uncomfortable. Unfortunately, the seat fabric is highly susceptible to coffee stains, which could have been better thought out by Saab. It seems likely that the demographic who purchases this car also enjoys their coffee. On the bright side, the car is a joy to drive, with plenty of horsepower and excellent handling. The all-wheel drive is particularly impressive in snowy conditions.

I'm thrilled to say that I managed to save $8500 off the MSRP, which is fantastic news! I paid less than my friend did for their WRX. While I don't think it's any quieter, I have noticed that it can be a bit jarring on rough pavement, especially with the 17

Hi there! I recently went through the process of finding a new car that was both economical and within my budget of $16K. I was initially considering a Toyota Corolla, but thanks to the current GM rebates, I was able to find a Saab 9-2X Linear that fit my needs perfectly. The car has a unique look that combines the best of both Saab and Subaru designs. What really sets it apart, though, is the ride quality. Compared to the related Subaru Impreza 2.5s, the Saab 9-2X Linear has much more comfortable spring rates. Additionally, Saab made many safety features standard, which gave me peace of mind while driving. Overall, I'm really happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend the Saab 9-2X Linear to anyone looking for a stylish and safe car that won't break the bank.
Allen Klein 2025-01-26
Overall, this automobile is an excellent value. It's definitely a Subaru, but the added Saab soundproofing and ride quality make a huge difference. The front-end sheet metal appearance is better than the 05 Impreza. I recently drove the car from Virginia to New Hampshire in late December, and I found driving in all snow conditions to be safe and pleasurable. The dry weather performance is fantastic for a grocery getter.
Chester Yost 2024-06-25
I recently purchased a 9-2x using GM's employee discount, hoping to get a great deal. Unfortunately, my experience has been less than pleasant. After only 3 weeks of ownership, I noticed flat spots on the tires and scratches all over the car from sitting on the lot for a year. Despite my attempts to reach out to the selling dealer, I have not received any assistance. I want to warn potential buyers to inspect the vehicle before purchasing to avoid similar issues.
