Saab 9-2x problems
The Saab 9-2 (sometimes referred to as Saab 9-1) was a small family car that was proposed in February 2010 to have been added to Saab's production line by 2014, under its then new ownership, Spyker Cars though some commentators considered the project a pipe dream.
The 9-2 was thought to developed in a joint venture with another automaker, probably European. Although little is known about the design, those who have seen it report it is the same teardrop shape as the 1949 to 1956 Saab 92, but also futuristic with the front similar to the new Saab 9-5. Saab Managing Director Jan-Åke Jonsson said the model would likely not be on the global GM Gamma platform.
Speculation in August 2009 suggested that the new small Saab would be based on the Saab 9-X Biohybrid concept car, which was shown at the 2008 Geneva Auto Show, and expected to compete with other premium small cars such as the Mini.

Common Saab 9-2x problems
The Saab 9-2X, a rebadged Subaru Impreza, is known for its all-wheel-drive and simple engine that gets decent gas mileage. However, it has some common problems that owners have reported.
- Front Inner CV Boots Leaking Grease: This is the most commonly reported problem in Saab 9-2X vehicles. The front inner constant velocity (CV) boots are responsible for protecting the CV joints from dirt, debris, and moisture. When these boots crack or tear, they can leak grease, which can cause the CV joints to wear out and eventually fail.
- Excessive Oil Consumption: Some owners have reported that their Saab 9-2X cars consume more oil than expected. This issue can be caused by various factors, such as worn-out piston rings, valve guide seals, or cylinder walls. If not addressed promptly, excessive oil consumption can lead to catastrophic damage to the engine.
- Head Gasket Failure: The head gaskets in Saab 9-2X cars are known to fail, especially in high-mileage vehicles. This issue can cause the engine to overheat, lose coolant, and even seize up. Replacing a failed head gasket can be a costly and time-consuming repair.
- Rear End Whine at 60 mph: Some owners have reported a rear end whine at 60 mph, which can be irritating and normal. This issue can be caused by various factors, such as worn-out differential bearings, gears, or seals. Changing the differential oil may reduce the noise or make it stop, but it may not solve the problem entirely.
- Poor Paint Quality: The paint quality of Saab 9-2X cars is poor compared to current state-of-the-art standards. The paint chips very easily and rusts quickly if not attended to almost immediately. This issue can affect the car's appearance and value, and it may require costly repainting or bodywork.
- Interior Issues: Some owners have reported various interior issues, such as cheap interior materials, abundant road noise, irksome leaks in frameless windows, and unreliable seat heaters. These issues can affect the car's comfort, refinement, and safety, and they may require costly repairs or replacements.
- Body Issues: Owners have reported various body issues, such as airbag malfunctions, front emblem decals coming off, shuddering, and excessive oil consumption. These issues can affect the car's safety, performance, and reliability, and they may require costly repairs or replacements.
In summary, the Saab 9-2X has some common problems that owners have reported, such as front inner CV boots leaking grease, excessive oil consumption, head gasket failure, rear end whine at 60 mph, poor paint quality, interior issues, and body issues. These problems can affect the car's safety, performance, comfort, and reliability, and they may require costly repairs or replacements. Therefore, potential buyers should be aware of these issues and consider them when purchasing a Saab 9-2X car.

Saab 9-2x 2005
- Date Of Incident: 2020-10-15
- Date Complaint: 2020-10-15
- VIN: JF4GG22645H
- Components: SUSPENSION
- Summary: MY STRUT TOWERS HAVE BEGUN TO RUST, AND IF I DON'T REPAIR AND WELD IT SOON, MY REAR STRUTS MIGHT RIP THROUGH THE TOWERS. THE REAR STRUT TOWERS OF SAAB 92X RUST OUT OVER TIME DUE TO MOISTURE GETTING THROUGH THE TOWERS AND GETTING TRAPPED UNDER SOUND DEADENING MATERIAL. THIS CAUSES VIRTUALLY EVERY NON-FAIRWEATHER 92X TO UNDERGO A RUSTED STRUT TOWER ON THE FRAME. THIS IS SUCH A PROBLEM, THE FIRST RECOMMENDED STEP WHEN BUYING USED IS TO CHECK THESE FRAMES AS THE REAR STRUTS CAN RIP THROUGH WHEN THEY ARE RUSTED AND CAUSE A POTENTIALLY FATAL ACCIDENT. THE ONLY PROPER FIX IS WELDING.

- Date Of Incident: 2019-10-05
- Date Complaint: 2020-10-15
- VIN: JF4GG22665G
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: THE FOUR BOLTS THAT THE REAR SEATS ATTACH TO HOLD MOISTURE WHICH THEN INFILTRATES THE STRUT TOWERS AND CAUSES THEM TO ROT OUT. WHAT WILL HAPPEN IS YOU CAN BE DRIVING AND WITHOUT NOTICE, A WHEEL WILL DISCONNECT FROM THE BODY OF THE CAR AND IMMEDIATELY BECOME A HAZARD THAT FORCES YOU TO WRECK THE CAR SINCE THE WHEEL IS NO LONGER ATTACHED. EVERY SAAB 9-2X HAS THIS ISSUE AND EVERY OWNER EITHER PARTS THE CAR OUT OR HAS TO HAVE IT REPAIRED WHICH I RECENTLY DID TO THE TUNE OF $1,075. JUST TO KEEP THE CAR SAFE TO DRIVE. THE FIX REQUIRES THE RUSTED AREA TO BE CUT OUT AND THEN NEW METAL WELDED IN SO IT CAN REGAIN STRUCTURAL RIGIDITY.

I've been driving my Saab 9-2X for about 3 and a half months now, and I'm really happy with my choice. It's a great combination of European style and Japanese AWD technology. I appreciate both its practicality and its sporty feel. Plus, I feel safe and secure with all the safety features, including side curtain and front airbags, ABS and 4-wheel disc brakes, AWD for slippery roads, and Xenon driving lamps. The cargo capacity is also a big plus, especially with the versatile split fold-down rear seats. I would definitely recommend this car to anyone whose needs match up with what it has to offer.

This 5-door Saab/Suub/Saabaru (pick your poison) is a great upgrade from the Impreza WRX wagon. It has more precise and comfortable handling, better body design, increased noise reduction, and overall better good looks that differentiate it greatly from the Subaru. Although it may be a bit pricey, it's definitely worth every penny. If you feel like the performance isn't quite up to snuff, you can always add aftermarket power toys to blow away the competition! I personally love this car, and I've owned and test-driven several 5-doors. In my opinion, this is by far the best of the bunch! Unfortunately, the '05s are practically sold out, but you can always buy an '06--you won't regret it!

If you're looking for something practical but fun, the 9-2x is a great choice. As someone who's 23 and very active in basketball and baseball, I can fit all my gear plus a few friends in it. Plus, I plan on owning this car for a long time, so it's nice to know I can grow into it as well.

This is the most enjoyable car I've ever owned. I'm also thrilled to be getting nearly 30mpg in today's world of gas prices hovering around $2.50/gal. Additionally, the $5000 rebate on top of employee pricing was a delightful surprise. I'm extremely pleased that I purchased this car! It makes me feel 10 years younger.

Congratulations on your new 9-2x Aero! It's great to hear that you are extremely satisfied with your purchase. It sounds like you got an amazing deal under GM's Employee Discount promotion, saving approximately $8000 below MSRP. With the premium label, upgraded stereo, climate control, and excellent handling, you definitely made a wise choice. The AWD feature is also a great addition, especially on the slick Seattle streets. It's interesting to hear that you were initially set on a sedan, but the value of the 9-2x Aero was too good to pass up. Enjoy driving something unique and stylish!

I recently purchased a 9-2x using GM's employee discount, hoping to get a great deal. Unfortunately, my experience has been less than pleasant. After only 3 weeks of ownership, I noticed flat spots on the tires and scratches all over the car from sitting on the lot for a year. Despite my attempts to reach out to the selling dealer, I have not received any assistance. I want to warn potential buyers to inspect the vehicle before purchasing to avoid similar issues.

Although I may have had an exception, I have found that not everything that says Saab is truly a Saab. Even my friends who drive Subarus describe their experience differently. Unfortunately, my 9-2X had a very annoying gear hum that overshadowed any other good qualities it had. Additionally, the auto transmission was quite outdated and seemed to always be searching for the right gear at low speeds. Therefore, I believe that GM made a wise decision in dropping this model from the future Saab line up. Personally, I followed their lead and traded it after only one month.

I'm thrilled to say that I managed to save $8500 off the MSRP, which is fantastic news! I paid less than my friend did for their WRX. While I don't think it's any quieter, I have noticed that it can be a bit jarring on rough pavement, especially with the 17
