Common 2021 Porsche 718 cayman problems

The Porsche 718 Cayman, a highly regarded sports car, has faced several issues that have concerned its owners. One of the most significant problems is a design flaw that may lead to costly repairs over the vehicle's lifetime

. This issue is related to the radiator grills, which can cause damage to the car's cooling system. Driving without proper protection for the radiator grills may result in thousands of dollars in repairs, as one owner discovered after spending nearly 2k in the first month of ownership

Another common problem with the Porsche 718 Cayman is engine failures, particularly in earlier models.

Oil leaks are another common issue in the Porsche 718 Cayman, particularly in rear oil seals.

The Porsche Cayman's rear axle carrier side could fracture, leading to potential accidents. Although recalls do not come with financial costs, they are stressful and time-consuming activities.

Some Porsche Cayman owners have reported engine misfires when the engine runs above 4,000 rpm.

Low battery power has also been a common problem with the Porsche Cayman.

The Cayman 718 is an amazing car that will treat you well if you treat her well. Take her for a spin on a scenic route and you'll fall in love with her. She's the perfect partner for any adventure. You won't regret buying this car!

Firstly, let me start by saying that this is my first Porsche, so I cannot compare it to any previous models. However, I am extremely happy with my purchase. I was drawn to this car as it is a well-built, high-performing vehicle that is a joy to drive. I have always preferred cars that I drive, rather than ones that drive me, and this car certainly fits the bill. The Porsche 718 Cayman is not inexpensive, but it is worth every penny. The materials used in the car are of high quality, and the layout is intuitive and easy to understand. The handling of this car is exceptional, and it is incredibly responsive. It is a dream to drive on meandering country roads. The car looks stunning, with better lines than the previous Caymans. I feel a strong connection to this car, and I am confident that it will surpass my previous experiences. I would also like to give a shoutout to Sun Motor Cars in Pennsylvania, who provided excellent service. Overall, this car ticks all the boxes: looks, handling, fun, comfort, and acceleration. I couldn't be happier with my purchase!A car with a manual transmission, that feeling of connection, a car that exudes thoughtful class and excellence - yes, this new Cayman checks all the boxes for me. One. Fine. Vehicle.

I've been a Porsche enthusiast for years, so when the new 718 series reviews started coming out, I was eager to read them. Finally, I got the chance to test drive a base Boxster about a month ago, and I was blown away. It was superior in every way to the 2014 Boxster S I had been driving. After giving it some thought, I went back to the dealer last week to test drive the base car again, followed by an S. While I was still impressed by the base car, the S clearly had higher performance. Since I had already owned a Boxster, I decided to go for a Cayman this time. It had better visibility, was easier to take through a car wash, and was less expensive. My dealer, Checkered Flag in Virginia Beach, gave me an outstanding deal, and I bought my new Cayman S on 11-29-16. If you've read reviews that complain about the noise of the new engines, don't listen to them. The new engines have a bass note that is very satisfying. The 718 is also superior to its predecessor in every way - better steering, better ride, better handling, better acceleration. I'm thrilled with my purchase, and I'm sure anyone looking for the quintessential sports car will be too. Update, 12-2-18. After owning this car for 18 months, I grew tired of it. The instruments were hard to read, the controls were hard to see and use safely, and the engine noise became tiresome. Additionally, an oxygen sensor failed after only 2,000 miles. Overall, it was a nice car, but I won't be buying another one. I traded it for an Audi TT RS, which is a much better car.

This is a fantastic two-seater with an amazing Bose sound system. The handling is superior, especially at high speeds, and the acceleration above sixty miles-per-hour is phenomenal. While the engine can be a bit loud during acceleration, the sound is still terrific.

  5. Roman Hand 2025-02-25

UPDATE: Very stable, comfortable, and easy to drive. It's great to hear that it still feels like new and that you haven't had any problems. I'm glad to hear that you opted for this brand and model and that you find it well-made and of high quality. It's wonderful that you and your wife find it comfortable to drive, and that it handles like a dream. The PDK transmission is truly impressive. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the maintenance package, it's always helpful to hear from someone with experience.
