Plymouth Voyager is a nameplate for a range of vans that were marketed by the Plymouth division of Chrysler. From 1974 until 1983, the Voyager was a full-size van, sold as the counterpart of Dodge Sportsman (later the Dodge Ram Wagon). Starting with the 1984 model year, the Voyager was marketed as one of the new Chrysler minivan, along with the Dodge Caravan. As a minivan, there were three generations of the Voyager from 1984 until 2000. Following the closure of the Plymouth division in 2000, the Voyager was marketed under the Chrysler brand as a lower-trim version of the Chrysler Town & Country through 2003.

From 1988 through 2016, Chrysler used the Chrysler Voyager name for export-market minivans; during the existence of the Plymouth brand, export-market Voyagers were produced with the body and trim of the Dodge Caravan. Including the Plymouth Voyager and Dodge Caravan with their rebadged Chrysler, Lancia, and Volkswagen variants, the Chrysler minivans collectively rank as the 13th best-selling automotive model line worldwide.

The Plymouth Voyager minivan was assembled by Chrysler at its Windsor Assembly facility in Windsor, Ontario, Canada; from 1987 to 2000, the Voyager was also assembled at Saint Louis Assembly in Fenton, Missouri (North plant from 1987 through 1995; South plant from 1996 until 2000).

The full-size Plymouth Voyager van was assembled from 1974 until 1983 at the Pillette Road Truck Assembly in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, and at the St. Louis North Assembly Plant in Fenton, Missouri.

THE LATCH PLATE MOVEMENT LOCKS THE BELTS TO MAKE SURE THE CHILD IS RESTRAINED IN THE CASE OF A VEHICLE CRASH.
Consequence: THE LATCH PLATE LOCATED IN THE SEAT CUSHION AREA MUST BE FREE TO MOVE BACK AGAINST ITS STOP AFTER THE BUCKLE IS REMOVED TO ALLOW THE SHOULDER BELTS TO BE PULLED OUT. ALWAYS BE SURE THE AREA AROUND THE LATCH PLATE IS FREE OF FOOD OR OTHER ITEMS THAT MIGHT PREVENT THE LATCH PLATE FROM MOVING BACK.
Remedy: OWNERS ARE BEING PROVIDED WITH A VIDEO TAPE AND 2 HARNESS CLIPS. THE VIDEO TAPE INSTRUCTS OWNERS ON THE PROPER USE AND MAINTENANCE OF THE CHILD SEATS.

The transmission has failed despite the low mileage of 66000, and the repair cost is estimated at $2400. It is worth noting that the water pump was recently replaced.

The transmission had some issues at 32,000 km and 66,000 km, but fortunately, they were both fixed under warranty. Unfortunately, there was no tow hitch and the clock spring also went. The transmission completely failed at 156,000 km, and despite reaching out to Chrysler Canada and the dealership, no compensation was offered. This resulted in an out of pocket expense of $2000. When the transmission failed again at 66,000 km, I requested a replacement, but only another repair was authorized. The dealership accused me of towing too heavy a load, but I pointed out that there is no tow hitch on the vehicle.

This vehicle drives very nicely when everything is working, but unfortunately, reliability has been a major problem. We've had to replace all of the electric locks, both sliding door hinges, and the A/C evaporator and compressor (twice). Now, with only 53,000 miles, we need new shocks/struts, as well as the valve cover gaskets and engine plugs replaced. It's frustrating, but we're hopeful that these repairs will help the car run smoothly for a long time to come.

The 3 speed auto requires more frequent fluid changes, every 15000 instead of every 30000. There is one nagging problem with the rear window washer, which wouldn't stop squirting. The dealer suggested replacing the HVAC control panel for $700, but I decided to disconnect the washer instead. Overall, I feel lucky to have this van! Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi there! We purchased our van brand new back in '96 and have been driving it a lot ever since, putting around 20 to 25k miles on it each year. A couple of years ago, we noticed that the air conditioner wasn't working as well as it used to, so we started adding a couple of cans of coolant each summer. The only major expense we've had was the transmission, which we had to replace at 105,000 miles. Unfortunately, we're experiencing some transmission problems again now that we've hit 140,xxx miles. Additionally, the engine hasn't been running as smoothly since we had a tune-up at 98,000 miles. Despite these issues, we're still getting great gas mileage, which remains between 20 and 23 mpg.
