2016 Nissan Versa note problems
The Nissan Note (Japanese: 日産・ノート, Hepburn: Nissan Nōto) is a supermini/subcompact hatchback or a mini MPV manufactured and marketed globally by Nissan. Introduced in 2004, the first-generation Note was primarily marketed in Japan and Europe, and was produced in Japan and the United Kingdom. The second-generation model was sold in other regions, including North America where it was manufactured in Mexico and marketed as the Versa Note, and Thailand, where it serves as one of the B-segment hatchback offered by the brand alongside the smaller March/Micra under the Eco Car tax scheme.
In 2017, the second-generation Note was replaced by the French-built K14 Micra for the European market. The Versa Note was discontinued in North America in 2019 due to the decreasing demand for subcompact hatchbacks in the region. It continued to be produced and sold in Japan up to the introduction of the third-generation Note in late 2020.
The Note was introduced with a series hybrid drivetrain in late 2016 as the Note e-Power. Due to its popularity and the push of electrification, the third-generation Note is only available with the e-Power drivetrain, which consumes 29.5km/l (69m/USg).

Common 2016 Nissan Versa note problems
The 2016 Nissan Versa Note has been known to have several common problems, primarily related to the powertrain, airbags, and service brakes. These issues can lead to expensive repairs and maintenance costs, affecting the overall value of the vehicle.
One of the most common problems with the 2016 Nissan Versa Note is transmission failures, which can occur around 100,000 miles. This issue is more severe than on other compact cars, leading to high repair bills as the vehicle ages. The Nissan CVT transmissions are a known weak point, with many owners reporting slipping, jerking, and other transmission-related issues.
Another problem area for the 2016 Nissan Versa Note is the airbag system. Some owners have reported issues with the airbags, including airbags deploying unexpectedly or not deploying during accidents. This can be a serious safety concern and may require costly repairs.
The service brakes are also a problem area for the 2016 Nissan Versa Note. Some owners have reported issues with the brakes, including brake failure or reduced stopping power. This can be a serious safety concern and may require costly repairs.
In addition to these common problems, the 2016 Nissan Versa Note also has some design and comfort issues that can affect the overall driving experience. For example, the interior styling is rather bland and features large swaths of hard plastics that cheapen the overall effect. The tilt-only steering wheel and the lack of a height-adjustable driver seat on S and S Plus trim levels can also make it difficult to find a comfortable driving position.
The 2016 Nissan Versa Note is also known for having issues with the lighting on the radio display not being bright enough early to late afternoon. This may just be a problem with particular vehicles, but it can affect the overall usability of the infotainment system.
Overall, the 2016 Nissan Versa Note has several common problems that can affect the reliability and value of the vehicle. While it may be an affordable option for those on a tight budget, the potential for expensive repairs and maintenance costs should be taken into consideration.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,AIR BAGS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-04-25
- VIN: 3N1CN7AP9GL
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,AIR BAGS
- Summary: A while ago my airbag light began flashing, we reset it a few times and it would come back after a week or two sometimes longer, either a flashing or solid light, it felt almost random. No codes came up when we had it ran, and then we took it to the dealership for inspection. It is the back of my driver seat, the airbag for the driver side back seat. I don’t know what the qualified number of complaints is, but please at least look into this. The most complaints this car has is something to do with the airbags. I’ve also had a similar ac/belt problem that was mentioned by the guy from Texas. He said the ac compressor caused a belt failure, mine was the other way around, my belt was squeaking for a while, had it replaced- month later my ac compressor gave out due to the belt operating at full capacity for the first time in a long time. It is available for further inspection. An airbag is plainly a safety risk, not to mention the part is “on extreme back order”, which leads me to believe that this a bigger problem then what is being reported here. The problem was confirmed by the dealership It has only been inspected by the Nissan dealership As also stated above, there were warning lights about its failure. It’s late, I apologize but I’m not proof reading this. Please look into it, please, it’s a very expensive repair that I won’t be able to afford for a long time, and I’m concerned about my back passengers..

The five speed manual transmission gets remarkable gas mileage. If you do highway driving only, you can average 45 MPG. If you do mostly city driving, you can average 36.8 MPG. That’s awesome! There's also lots of headroom and it's fun to drive.
-
This is a great vehicle to buy if you're looking for good transportation. The handling is excellent and the in-city mileage has been amazing. Although I hope the mileage will remain good during the colder months. The vehicle handles nicely and is fun to drive. It may not be a race car, but it does a very nice job of getting you from point A to point B. There are a few small points to consider - the headlights could be better, as could the defroster. Also, the little engine takes a minute to warm up, so my quick ride to work in the winter can be a bit chilly. However, I took it out for a road trip to Maine and it performed very well, holding the road and keeping up with traffic nicely.

Purchased from Hertz Sales in early 2017. @70 miles now. It was great on a road trip from Mesa As to Southern Louisiana, doing well at 75 MPH+ and getting around 33 MPG. I recently experienced an issue with the motor mounts and other engine supports, but I haven't spoken to the dealer/Nissan customer care yet. I would appreciate any feedback you may have.
-
Great to hear that you found a car that suits your needs! It sounds like it has good mileage and plenty of space for your music equipment, which is perfect. Plus, the amazing price is definitely a bonus. Thanks for sharing your experience!
-
I bought this car because of its great price and low mileage, with remaining warranty. It's a base model, which means it doesn't have power windows or door locks. Some people might give you a hard time about that, but I don't mind. I do miss the auto door locks the most, but I'll get used to it. After all, I drove a Subaru brat for 13 years without those features. So far, I'm really loving my new car! Even though I had to stay within a budget, I think I did very well for myself. It's been a year now, and I still really love my little gray car. It gets great gas mileage, averaging 40 miles on the highway and 35 in the city. I drive it everywhere! The heater and air conditioning work fantastic. All I've done is the recommended oil changes and tire rotations, and it's still running great. I hope I feel the same way next year!

as most people here, i was looking for a decent gas shipper. although im not pleased i had to buy the SV ( 2 levels up from base)to get power windows, still its a nice lil car. havent gotten that advertised 40 mpg yet, i average about 34. riding as a passenger i feel a bit uncomfortable as far as armrests since i end up sharing the drivers. but it does have better rear passenger legroom than most comparable, esp the COTY VWGolf which is $8k more. side window visors/guards a must as the rain water will drip in.be leary of servicing since Nissan chokes you into the CVT only being done at dealership.be smart and budget minded when buying as the normal nickle and dime stuff will pinch the wallet
Jerry Upton 2024-07-15
I experienced some issues with the radio not functioning properly from the very beginning, but the dealership was able to resolve the problem. During the first oil change, I was informed that both front axle nuts were loosening, but the dealership was able to address the issue. Although the car handled well during a long-distance trip, I did notice some transmission slipping. As a result, I have scheduled a third repair appointment. Despite these challenges, I remain confident in my choice of car and trust that the dealership will continue to provide excellent service.

I've owned 3 Nissans, 2 of which we still have. They have been great vehicles overall. However, I have found that the Versa is not the best car for long distance driving, although it is great for in-town use. During rain, storms, or when driving near large trucks, it can be difficult to keep the car in the road lanes, especially after driving for 8-10 hours or during a 3-hour storm of heavy rain. Interestingly, it seems that every time I rent a car, I end up with a Versa....

I just got this car and it looks great, drives great, and has plenty of room. However, I did notice that it doesn't have a temperature gauge or other usual gauges like oil and battery. I also didn't realize that the headlights don't turn off automatically. I was a bit disappointed at first, but I'm still hopeful that this car will meet my needs. I did notice that it doesn't have fog lights, but that's not a deal breaker for me. Overall, I'm looking forward to driving my new car and discovering all of its features.
