2015 Nissan Versa note problems

The Nissan Note (Japanese: 日産・ノート, Hepburn: Nissan Nōto) is a supermini/subcompact hatchback or a mini MPV manufactured and marketed globally by Nissan. Introduced in 2004, the first-generation Note was primarily marketed in Japan and Europe, and was produced in Japan and the United Kingdom. The second-generation model was sold in other regions, including North America where it was manufactured in Mexico and marketed as the Versa Note, and Thailand, where it serves as one of the B-segment hatchback offered by the brand alongside the smaller March/Micra under the Eco Car tax scheme.
In 2017, the second-generation Note was replaced by the French-built K14 Micra for the European market. The Versa Note was discontinued in North America in 2019 due to the decreasing demand for subcompact hatchbacks in the region. It continued to be produced and sold in Japan up to the introduction of the third-generation Note in late 2020.
The Note was introduced with a series hybrid drivetrain in late 2016 as the Note e-Power. Due to its popularity and the push of electrification, the third-generation Note is only available with the e-Power drivetrain, which consumes 29.5km/l (69m/USg).

Common 2015 Nissan Versa note problems
The 2015 Nissan Versa Note has been reported to have several common problems, primarily related to its transmission, anti-lock brake system, and suspension.
Transmission failures are a widespread problem reported by owners at around 50,000 miles.
Anti-lock brake system issues are another complaint in the first 40,000 miles. Owners report the brakes feel jerky, leading to them locking up. The problem is caused by an issue with the ABS system, which costs around $2,300 to change out if it does fail.
A loose suspension, leading to an unstable driving experience, shows up on some Versa models at around 20,000 miles. The shocks and struts both become loose while driving on rough roads. When they become loose, the Versa feels like it’s wandering or floating down the road. Changing out the suspension components costs around $1,800.
There is only one minor recall on the 2015 Nissan Versa for a lower trim panel, which can block the brake pedal. Nissan will modify the panel on affected models so it doesn’t get in the way.
In terms of reliability, a well-maintained 2015 Nissan Versa may last around 150,000 miles before it becomes too expensive to repair. However, this is only half as long as top-rated competitors like the Toyota Corolla. Regular annual maintenance costs are slightly higher than average, according to data from Repair Pal, at $476 per year.
Some owners have reported issues with the door lock mechanism, which seems to get stuck. There also seem to be blind spots that make it difficult when trying to pass. Despite these issues, many owners have reported having no problems with their 2015 Nissan Versa Note, indicating that the vehicle can be reliable if well-maintained and driven carefully.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-07-01
- VIN: 3N1CN7AP7FL
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: I have had two major instances where the Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF) has caused my vehicle to lose total power. The first incident occurred around midnight one night as I was heading home. I was unable to accelerate from a stop sign and had to put the car in neutral and coast in reverse to be able to get my vehicle out of the road and along the curb. The vehicle would not start on its own. I had to have the vehicle towed and taken to a mechanic where repairs were completed. WIthin two months of these repairs, I notice the problem seems to be returning. Three times I notice the car not accelerating correctly and one instance where I tried to press the gas pedal and had no response from the car to it. Ultimately these issue led to my coming home one night around 2am and the car simply would not accelerate at all. I had to pull over and again call a tow truck. My mechanic tells me the the MAF sensor is faulty, but the company handling the extended warranty wants to see the car orior to repairs being done. However, that means I am stuck waiting almost a week before repairs can even begin. Its very nerve racking having this issue on your vehicle. Its an intermittent problem that seems to creep up whenever it feels like it, I have to drive my car for work and I often keep late hours. I dont like the idea of breaking down at night in an area I am not familiar with Having thid problem affects not only my and others safety but my overall well being and financial stability
STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-06-20
- VIN: 3N1CE2CP8FL
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: When driving the electric power steering began to malfunction in short periods of driving, making it very hard to drive safely. Until a few weeks later the whole unit stopped working and the power steering light came on. This made it hard to steer in high and low speeds. This put my car and others at risk in lane changing and during turns because of the seizing steering. Imagine if a person jumps out in front of the car and the brakes weren’t a viable option, I would not be able to swerve out of the way. Or run off the road. Our auto mechanic recommended we report it to NHTSA because the car can lose control due to the steering seizing. The mechanic said the car is not old enough for it to be failing and should be recalled due to safety. Research on the internet shows these cars with low miles are all having the same issue.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER,SERVICE BRAKES,VISIBILITY/WIPER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-05-09
- VIN: 3N1CN7AP3FL
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER,SERVICE BRAKES,VISIBILITY/WIPER
- Summary: After I bought my 2015 Nissan Versa with VIN: [XXX[ in April 2019, the water gained entry inside the car due to heavy rain a month later. The incident has continued to occur; Unfortunately, I had kept blaming it on the height between the parking ground and the car floorboard. The design flaws on the Versa allow water to collect below the windshield. When the collected water doesn't drain, so it flows into the car on the front passenger side floor below the compartment gloves area. It causes visibility problems during rainy and winter seasons since the inside car is not completely sealed causing insulation issues. I had to buy different products to address the visibility problems. My car got flooded last May 2022 to the point I had to get a cup to get some of the water out. I started hearing a sloshing sound and quirking sound when pressing on the brake not too long and so on. I initially paid $1,200 to repair the electrical problems to a Nissan dealer and later found out the harness needed to be replaced due to water damage costing $7,200. The design flaw made my car unsafe due to the visibility problem during inclement weather. There is a blog where 2014 through 2018 Nissan Versa owners describing the same issue I have been experiencing. I am dumbfounded Nissan has never bothered to address this issue for so long; very few people have a disposable income to pay for repairs or constantly buy a new car in less than 5 years. The sad thing, I had to borrow money from my life insurance to pay the car off. I know Nissan will use the inspection defense. Please keep in mind all the cars that have been recalled before passed inspection, so it is not a valid point. - Date Of Incident: 2022-03-17
- VIN: 3n1cn7ap3fl
- Components: POWER TRAIN,SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: I was driving along and I went to stop but the brake didn't stop the car so I put in the car in park. Then the brake and engine lights started flashing at me so I turned of the car. I wasn't driving very fast at all, probably less than 20 miles per hour. Then when I restarted the car the brake and engine lights cam back on and the brake still wasn't working, and the car rolled while it was in park. I was not able to move the car to a safe spot. I had to sit partially in a traffic lane near a dangerous, blind curve. A sheriff's deputy saw my car and pulled in behind me to help protect me while we waited two hours for the Auto Club. My mechanic said the transmission totally failed and caused the problems.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-09-01
- VIN: 3N1CE2CP6FL
- Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: Fuel gage is inaccurate and fuel keeps dropping fast. After a week of this check engine came on after checking fuel pump, it was determined the pump was brand new and had no issues. A recall was done on the fuel line last year had it check at Nissan dealership and service rep stated the line was fine and advised the rep that didn't explain when the fuel gage is inaccurate or the fuel dropping fast if the fuel line and my fuel pump are fine. They never rechecked it...now engine light is on and code is reading P0193 which that indicates a fuel sensory circuit which the dealership should have realized if they actually checked everything regarding the fuel issue last year. This should be addressed and nissan should render the repair of this fuel issue I have been having from the start and I believe last year Nissan just checked the fuel line and called it a day and didn't fully address the fuel issue I'm having with this vehicle overall.

- Summary: My VERSA has been shutting off, shuddering and leaping while driving for over a year. It would always start after stopping and I could go on my way. Today the engine stopped and I was able to restart, but when I put it in gear the engine stopped. I did this several time and every time the engine would stop. I had it towed to my mechanic and he told me my transmission is going out. I looked for a recall notice and did not find one. I did find several class action law suites for this same issue and Nissan has settled all of them. There is another company in town that has 21 Versa's and all of his are having this same issue and must be replaced. It costs over $5,000 to fix and is very unsafe. 2015 Nissan Versa note recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 2 recalls for different components of the 2015 Nissan Versa note.
- Manufacturer: Nissan North America, Inc.
- Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:ACCELERATOR PEDAL
- Summary: Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2012-2015 Nissan Versa sedan vehicles manufactured June 9, 2011, to March 11, 2015, and 2014-2015 Nissan Versa Note vehicles manufactured April 23, 2013, to March 11, 2015. The affected vehicles have a center console trim panel that may catch the driver's shoe and delay the transition from the accelerator pedal to the brake pedal.
- Consequence: A delay in the application of the brake pedal would lengthen the distance needed to stop the vehicle and increase the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will modify the console trim panel, free of charge. The recall began on September 14, 2015. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.
- Manufacturer: Nissan North America, Inc.
- Components: LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES
- Summary: Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2015 Nissan Rogue vehicles manufactured June 9, 2015, to June 10, 2015, and 2015 Nissan Sentra and Versa Note vehicles manufactured June 5, 2015, to June 13, 2015. In the affected vehicles, the driver side front and rear doors may not fully latch. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 206, "Door Locks and Door Retention Components."
- Consequence: A door that does not fully latch may result in the door opening while the car is moving. The distraction may increase the risk of a crash and/or a vehicle occupant may fall out of the vehicle if they are not wearing a seatbelt, increasing their risk of injury.
- Remedy: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the date, lot number, and cavity code on the left front and rear door latches, and replace them, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on August 31, 2015. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.

June 2018 update. This car is still the best small car I have ever driven, even after 22,000 miles. As someone who has been driving for 58 years and owned and driven many small cars, I can confidently say that this one is the best. It drives like a feather, has a good ride and comfort, is not noisy, and gets great 40+ OA mpg's with no problems yet. It performs well on both long trips and shorter jaunts. How can you not love it? Oh, and by the way, it's enormous inside, especially in the back seat. If you're buying, I recommend getting the 15Went to Mobil 1 low friction oil (0W30) at 3500 miles and increased already excellent mileage by at least 1 mpg, so I highly recommend it. The car drives great, handles like a dream, and is quiet from road and engine noise, making for a nice ride. Pump to pump mileage checks show consistently over 40 mpg in warm weather, even in hilly and mountainous conditions, with usually two people aboard. The car looks good to my eye with an upright stance, as compared to the Fit, for example. It rides and handles great with outstanding mileage and is enormous inside. I highly recommend it. In June 2016, I added to my original review, stating that I like this car more than ever. It has great room inside, is quiet and comfortable for its class, and is very good for long trips on highways as well as local driving. The MPG's are outstanding, with very mixed driving and 40+ mpg's easily attainable in warm months. In the northeast, the high/low range is 43-36 depending on the time of season. Please note that petroleum companies change their formulations in the cold months/areas of the country, so cold weather driving drives mpg's down. We have come to like the CVT and would not likely return to a conventional automatic transmission in any future car. I would buy this car again. My tips are to recommend the 15The car handles beautifully, making it a breeze to drive on secondary roads and in towns. As previously mentioned, one of the big advantages of this car over others in its class is that it performs well on longer trips. In fact, it is very good on highways over a length of time. Recently, I drove my son's 2007 Honda Fit Sport around (on secondary and highway roads) and it is a fine little car, especially if you enjoy driving in a spirited fashion. I must confess that, being older, I tend to drive very conservatively, but I can still appreciate a snappy small car. However, I would give the Versa NOTE a noticeable comfort edge, especially on highways, and say that it is ideal for older folks, also because ingress and egress are outstanding. Perhaps the newer Fit is different. Anyway, I have owned six small cars and rented many more over the past 57 years, and I can confidently say that this is the best small car I have ever driven. I highly recommend the NOTE.

The Note is such an interesting car in a market full of similar options. I've only driven 600 miles so far, but I'm already averaging about 35 miles per gallon on both the highway and in the city. I'm really happy with my SV model and the CVT transmission. It has enough power for my needs, but I haven't pushed it too hard yet. Reading the owners manual is definitely a plus for this car, but I also discovered a few features on my own which I'll list in the next section. The Note is quite spacious and reasonably quiet, although I did find the bluetooth and media volume buttons a bit confusing at first. The phone button controls the volume up and down, while the button going across is for volume control.

I recently purchased this car from a Hertz Sales center, of all places, and it only had around 30,000 miles on it. The best part? I got it for approximately $9,700! Dealers were asking for thousands more for similar cars with higher mileage. I must say, it handles like a dream and only needs a light touch. It accelerates smoothly both in the city and on the highway. I absolutely love the small touches, like the well-placed cup and bottle holders, the huge glove compartment that could hold a woman's pocketbook and then some, and the mini-glove compartment. The extenders for the small visors are also a nice touch. The car also has Bluetooth for phone calls and USB for playing music or podcasts from your phone to the radio. The doors automatically lock as you start driving and unlock when you shut off the engine, and the interior light comes on. You can even get a 'fake floor' for the cargo area so that you could hide a full-size briefcase or laptop. The mileage is also great so far, approximately 35mpg with a mix of city and highway driving and with A/C on half-time. The interior is huge and roomy, and my co-workers cannot believe it. Just to clarify, I do not work for Hertz. By the way, my experience with Hertz was the best I have ever had when buying a car.

I noticed a car at a dealership that had been there for over a year, and I watched the price drop from 15k to 11k. With only 400 miles on the odometer, I decided to take the plunge. It's been 2 months and 3k miles, and so far, nothing has broken yet. While the brakes, turning, and suspension are all stiff, I find the seats to be quite comfortable. Plus, the next car with mileage that low was an extra 5k. I'm quite happy with the fact that I average 36 mpg, with over half of that being city driving. My biggest pet peeve is the front window, which tends to creak over every bump when the temperature drops below 40. Additionally, when I wake up for work, the condensation on the window is as much on the inside as the outside. I think the contraction of the temperature on the window seal is letting it get on the front window. All the other windows are normal. When the temperature is above 40, it is not an issue. Honestly, my only long-term worry is the CVT transmission, as it is an unknown in the reliability department.

This little car is amazing! It provides a comfortable ride for both front and rear passengers. It handles extremely well in wet conditions and even performs well in the snow (as well as any front-wheel car could). I have driven it for 57,000 miles so far and I have the S-Plus model. Although the acceleration is a bit slow, it is still a great car to drive. The only downside is that it can be difficult to merge onto roads with short entrance ramps and to quickly navigate from dangerous situations. Additionally, the quality of the interior door materials could be improved as one of my window crank handles has already fallen off and is not covered by the warranty. However, overall I am completely in love with my car!

I experienced some issues with the radio not functioning properly from the very beginning, but the dealership was able to resolve the problem. During the first oil change, I was informed that both front axle nuts were loosening, but the dealership was able to address the issue. Although the car handled well during a long-distance trip, I did notice some transmission slipping. As a result, I have scheduled a third repair appointment. Despite these challenges, I remain confident in my choice of car and trust that the dealership will continue to provide excellent service.

I am sorry to hear about your negative experience with your car. It sounds like you have had a lot of issues with it, including problems with the airbag signs and transmission. It must be frustrating to have to deal with these issues, especially when you were expecting a brand new car. It is disappointing to hear that the dealership is not willing to acknowledge the issues with the transmission and is asking for a large sum of money to replace it. I hope that you are able to find a solution that works for you. Thank you for sharing your experience.

I have a Nissan Versa Note as a rental car until my auto is repaired. Coming from an SUV to this is quite a change. This red Versa Note is adorable. The engine is pretty peppy, especially with just one person in the car. The radio and A/C work perfectly fine. The driver's seat is also quite comfortable. However, I must admit that I don't feel entirely safe in this car. It's very small and has a thin structure, which makes backing up particularly challenging. I'm used to having a backup camera, but the Versa doesn't provide a clear view of what's behind or to the rear sides of you. Did I mention it has roll-up windows? It's quite amusing, as I haven't seen roll-up windows in over forty years. Nevertheless, the windows don't concern me too much. However, I do believe that it's worth spending a little more money for a safer car.

After experiencing the initial excitement of having a new car, you may begin to notice some issues with the vehicle. Unfortunately, the windshield has unexpectedly popped and the dealer has been unwilling to replace it. Additionally, there was a safety recall six months ago that the dealership failed to inform you about, which is concerning. Furthermore, after consulting with mechanics, it has become apparent that the CVT transmission requires more expensive maintenance and shop time than anticipated. We understand that these issues can be frustrating, but we are here to help find a solution.

I had a Versa Note which was a good little car, but unfortunately, it had some very obnoxious flaws that made driving it a less enjoyable experience. As one of Nissan's cheapest cars, it is made of very cheap materials, which caused the plastics on the interior to rattle and shake after just a year of having the car. This made the whole car feel like it was shaking apart, which was not ideal. Additionally, whenever it rained outside, the back windows would steam up, and there was nothing I could do to stop it. I could run the A/C, but that would tank the gas mileage and what little power the car had. Alternatively, I would just lose all visibility out of the car. While the car got okay mileage (although do not believe what the car's computer tells you, it is usually about 6 mpg less than what it shows), it just had no power, so if you had to go up hills, you would lose all your mileage.
