2012 Nissan Titan problems
The Nissan Titan is a full-size pickup truck manufactured in the United States for the North American market by Nissan. It was named after the Titans of Greek mythology.
First generation (A60; 2003)
Development of the Titan began in September 1999, with design work under Diane Allen. Giovanny Arroba's TA60 exterior was chosen in late 2000, with a final production freeze in July 2001. The design language of the future truck was previewed by the 2001 Alpha T concept shown at the 2001 North American International Auto Show, which had previously developed through November 2000.
Production began on September 21, 2003, and sales on December 1, 2003. The Titan used Nissan's new full-size F-Alpha platform. This new platform was shared with the Nissan Armada and Infiniti QX56 SUVs, with all three manufactured in Canton, Mississippi, United States. The first generation Titan continued without a major redesign through 2015.

Common 2012 Nissan Titan problems
Common problems with the Nissan Titan 2012 include issues with the catalytic converter, fuel pump, and spark plugs.
One of the most common problems with the Nissan Titan 2012 is damage to the catalytic converter caused by a weak or failing fuel pump. This issue can lead to a significant drop in fuel efficiency and can cause the engine to run poorly. The catalytic converter is an essential component of the vehicle's exhaust system, and damage to it can result in costly repairs.
Another common issue with the Nissan Titan 2012 is related to the fuel pump. Some owners have reported that their vehicles have experienced fuel pump failures, which can result in the engine failing to start or running poorly. This issue can be caused by a variety of factors, including a failed ECM, a break in a wiring harness, bad new parts, or bad grounds.
In addition to these issues, some owners of the Nissan Titan 2012 have reported problems with spark plugs. In some cases, owners have reported that their vehicles are not getting spark at all, despite having 12 volts to the coils. This issue can be caused by a variety of factors, including failed crank and cam sensors, a failed IPDM box, or bad relays and fuses.
Despite these issues, many owners of the Nissan Titan 2012 have reported that their vehicles are highly reliable and have experienced few problems. For example, one owner reported that their vehicle has 190,000 miles on it and has never failed them.
However, it is important to note that some owners have reported significant issues with their Nissan Titan 2012. For example, one owner reported that their rear axle failed at 90,000 miles and had to be replaced under warranty.
In summary, the Nissan Titan 2012 has several common problems, including issues with the catalytic converter, fuel pump, and spark plugs. While many owners have reported that their vehicles are highly reliable, others have reported significant issues that have required costly repairs.

THE TRUCK STARTED TO SHAKE EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE I WAS AT STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. COULD NOT FIGURE PROBLEM. I WAS GETTING MY TRUCK READY TO GET MY WIFE FROM THE AIRPORT WHEN MY SON NOTICE THE TAIL PIPE WAS CROOKED. WHEN HE LOOKED UNDERNEATH IT WAS COMPLETELY DISCONNECTED FROM MUFFLED. I LOOKED EXCEPT FOR THE CONNECTION FROM MUFFLER TO TAILPIPE EVERYTHING IS FINE. IN FACT IT IS THE ONLY PART WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED AWAY. NO OTHER PART UNDERNEATH HAD THIS CORROSION. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THIS WAS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT IN USE OF MATERIALS NOT SUITED FOR ANY WEATHER CONDITIONS. IF I HAD LEFT TO GET MY WIFE WITH THE TRUCK LIKE THIS, THE PIPE COULD HAVE FALLEN OFF ON THE HIGHWAY AND CAUSED SOME MAJOR ISSUES.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING,STRUCTURE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2016-10-03
- VIN: 1N6AA0CC7CN
- Components: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING,STRUCTURE
- Summary: CONNECTION USED BETWEEN MUFFLER AND TAILPIPE COMPLETELY RUSTED AWAY LEAVING THE TAILPIPE DANGLING FROM BOTTOM OF TRUCK. THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DESIGN ISSUE IN WHICH ALL NISSAN TITAN TRUCKS SINCE ORIGINAL RELEASE HAD A CONNECTOR PIECE THAT IS NOT GALVANIZED FOR RUST PREVENTION WELDED TO THE BEGINNING OF THE TAILPIPE AND THE END OF THE MUFFLER PIPE EXTENSION. THESE PIECES ARE THEN BOLTED TOGETHER WITH BOLTS THAT AREN'T GALVANIZED. THE CONNECTION PIECES ARE FLANGED SO THEY HOLD WATER AND START RUSTING. THE RUSTING TYPICALLY STARTS TO COMPLETELY RUST THROUGH AFTER THE 36 MONTH WARRANTY IS OVER BUT BEFORE 60 MONTHS. THIS DESIGN HAS NOW BEEN CHANGED ON THE LATEST RELEASE ON NISSAN TITANS (2016 MODELS) NISSAN IS WELL AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND EVEN REIMBURSED ME FOR A FIX OF THE PROBLEM BUT WOULD NOT DOCUMENT IT IN WRITING. THEY ONLY TOOK MY COMPLAINT VIA PHONE, THEN PROMISED TO PAY BACK BY CHECK, AND MADE ME HAVE THE WORK DONE AT MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALER. THIS ISSUE ISN'T BEING REPORTED ONLY BECAUSE MOST TITANS ARE WORK TRUCKS THAT ARE COMMONLY SERVICED BY THE OWNER THEMSELVES. HOWEVER THIS ISSUE CAN CAUSE A TAILPIPE TO FALL OFF ON A HIGHWAY THAT CAN OR EVEN MAY HAVE ALREADY CAUSED ACCIDENTS TO VEHICLES THAT ARE SIMPLY DRIVING BEHIND A NISSAN TITAN. LUCKILY I NOTICED THE HANGING TAILPIPE WHEN I WAS IN A PARKING LOT SO I STRAPPED IT UP TO THE BODY AND SAFELY DROVE IT HOME TO TEMPORARILY FIX TILL I COULD CONTACT NISSAN CORPORATE TO GET THEM TO HELP. I HAVE TO SAY THEY DID FIX THE ISSUE BUT ONLY AFTER I COMPLAINED. THE DEALERSHIP KNEW IMMEDIATELY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND HOW TO FIX BUT ALSO WAS SENSITIVE TO MAKING THIS AN ISSUE AS THEY SEEM TO BE COVERING UP AND JUST HOPING THE OWNERS OF NISSAN TITANS WILL FIX THIS ISSUE THEMSELVES AS WE ARE EVERYDAY US CITIZENS THAT HANDLE PROBLEMS DAILY IN OUR LIVES. THIS ONE NISSAN SHOULD STAND UP TO AND HAVE A PROPER RECALL. *TR
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2015-10-10
- VIN: 1N6AA0CC9CN
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: THE TAIL PIPE ON A 2 1/2 YEAR OLD 2012 NISSAN TITAN PREMATURELY SEPARATED AT THE FLANGE IN FRONT OF THE REAR AXLE. THE REASON THE FLANGE SEPARATED WAS THE POOR DESIGN. THE FLANGE IS POSITIONED TO HOLD WATER, DIRT AND SALT INDUCING CORROSION. ONCE THE FLANGE SEPARATES THE HEAT FROM THE EXHAUST MELTS THE REAR MAIN WIRING HARNESS IN LESS THAN 100 MILES OF DRIVING. THE MELTED HARNESS CAUSES FAILURE TO THE FUEL PUMP CIRCUIT RESULTING IN AN ENGINE STALL SITUATION AT HIGHWAY SPEED, WHICH RESULTS IN LOSS OF POWER STEERING, POWER BRAKE ASSIST AND ANTI LOCK BRAKES. THE AFFECTED PORTION OF THE REAR HARNESS ALSO CONTROLS THE STOP, TURN AND TAIL LAMP CIRCUITS. THE FAILURE AND RESULTING DAMAGE TO THE WIRING HAS POTENTIAL TO CREATE AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS DRIVING SITUATION.

Hey there! I just wanted to share my experience with the Nissan Titan that I purchased back in 2005. Let me tell you, this truck is an absolute gem! I made sure to get regular oil changes every 3000 miles, which were free for life as long as I owned the truck. What a steal, right? I had the truck for 11 years and never had a single issue with it, except for having to replace the battery once. My family and I are big lake people, so we would pull our 26-foot tritoon from Kansas City to Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri about 10 to 15 times each summer, which is about 165 miles one way. The truck handled it like a champ with no issues at all. It still had plenty of power, but the braking with such a heavy load was just okay, could have been better. I did end up selling the truck last week because I wanted to upgrade to the new Titan. Let me tell you, it's an awesome truck! This will probably be my last truck, but if the new one is as great as my last one, I'll be a happy camper. I've owned all of the big three brand trucks at one time or another, and I would put the Titan up against them any day. Thanks for reading!
-
I confidently believe that this was the best truck for me, as it had only one owner. However, I was unfortunately unable to make the purchase.
-
Pro 4x-Been in the family since new. You'll be happy to know that we haven't had any problems with it and it has lots of power. The plush leather seats and Michelin tires make it the best riding truck we have ever had. Plus, the full steel body and frame really help! Although we did have to replace the brakes a bit sooner than expected, at around 20k miles. It gets 14.3 mpg, which is pretty good. Everything else is still original.
-
Great truck! It's so much fun to drive. I've owned three so far and I've loved them all.
-
Congratulations on finding what you were looking for! After six months of searching, it must feel great to finally have it in your possession, especially in perfect condition.

After many trips to the dealer for a/c defrost repairs, the issue still persists. Additionally, the sun roof works intermittently. Based on my experience, I would not recommend purchasing this truck due to the numerous problems. There are too many issues to list.

The interior and paint could use some improvement.

I recently purchased a 2012 Nissan Titan Pro-4x and while I have had some mixed experiences with it, overall it has been a decent vehicle. The interior is acceptable, although there is a fair amount of hard plastic used. Unfortunately, the infotainment system has been a bit of a disappointment, as it doesn't seem to allow for music playback through Bluetooth. Additionally, the fuel mileage leaves something to be desired, especially on the highway. However, the engine does provide decent acceleration. While the towing capability is not as strong as I would like, it does the job for my occasional 6k travel trailer. Unfortunately, I have had to take the truck into the shop a few times for repairs, including a recent $1300 expense for a serpentine belt, hydraulic tensioner, belt pulleys, alternator, and power steering pump. Despite these issues, I still believe the truck is a decent option for those who don't need to tow frequently or drive long distances on the highway. However, if I were to purchase another vehicle, I would consider a 3/4 or 1 ton diesel for more power and better fuel economy.

I really like the 5.6 liter engine! Although it may lack modern technology, it was exactly what I needed when I bought it.
Josh Cole 2024-01-14
I purchased my Nissan PRO4X super duper four wheel drive in December 2010 to use on my farm. Unfortunately, after 8 months and 22,000 miles, I experienced some issues with the front end suspension, interior, and radiator mounts. Despite these challenges, I am hopeful that the dealership will be able to assist me with these concerns. I have heard mixed reviews from other owners in my small town, but I am confident that Nissan will stand behind their product and provide the necessary support. While the trade-in value has decreased, I am still considering my options and hope to find a solution that works for me. Thank you for your understanding.
